給する変調イオン供給手段とを具備し、変調され
たイオン流を前記現像剤薄層に照射することによ
り、現像剤薄層に画像信号に対応した潜像を形成
して画像の記録を行なう静電記録装置において、 上記変調イオン供給手段を、 誘電体基板を挾んで背面電極と放電電極とを現
像剤担持体の長手方向に沿つて設け、上記放電電
極に、背面電極と放電電極との間に電圧を印加す
ることにより沿面コロナ放電を生起する空間領域
を、現像剤担持体の長手方向に沿つて形成し、上
記誘電体基板の放電電極側に、放電電極の空間領
域から生起したイオン流の漏れを防止する絶縁層
を介して、画像信号に応じてイオン流を変調する
