するクラツチとを備えた電動パワーステアリング
装置において、前記入力軸を筒状に形成して前記
両軸を弾性体を介して連結し、前記操舵トルク検
出器を前記弾性体の弾性変形に応じて操舵トルク
を検出するうにし且つ、前記入力軸の端部に複数
個の貫通孔を形成すると共に前記出力軸の外周面
に多面部を形成して該多面部と前記貫通孔とが互
いに重合するように前記出力軸を前記入力軸の端
部に遊嵌して、前記クラツチを前記入出力軸と同
心に且つ前記入力軸との間に隙間を残して配置さ
れると共にその外周にはすば歯車もしくは平歯車
が刻設されて該歯車により前記電動モータの回転
を減速する円筒状外輪と、前記貫通孔内に配置さ
れ前記入力軸の回転に応じて夫々前記円筒状外輪
の内周面と前記多面部の夫々とに係合し前記円筒
状外輪と前記出力軸とを連結可能な係合部材と、
前記貫通孔内に配置され前記係合部材を前記貫通
孔の円周方向一端面に付勢する弾性部材とから構
成して、該クラツチを前記弾性体の弾性変形によ
り前記出力軸と前記電動モータの断続を制御する
ようにしたことを特徴とする電動パワーステアリ
ング装置。
