CONSTITUTION:An ink 7 in an ink-reserving member 6 is transferred to an ink roll 5 by capillarity at the part of contact with a transfer roll, and the ink roll 5 is entirely impregnated with the ink. The ink roll 5 comprises a porous member, which is formed by sintering a powder of a synthetic resin such as polyethylene and polypropylene. The ink in the ink roll 5 is transferred selectively to a central part of the transfer roll 4 from the part of contact of the ink roll 5 with the transfer roll 4, because of the presence of grooves 8 provided on the transfer roll 4. The ink on the surface of the transfer roll 4 is transferred to a central part of an ink ribbon through the part of contact of the roll 4 with the ribbon.
