Abstract

PURPOSE:To restrain water flow on the flank of a gear case from breaking away so as to prevent the thrust of a propeller from being reduced by providing a fixed rudder, forming a smooth blade like flow line together with the flank of the gear case, in front of the gear case. The water absorbing performance in a suction port provided at the flank of the gear case 7 is also prevented from being lowered because of restraining the water flow from breaking away, thereby preventing the generation of engine troubles. The chord length of the rudder is further increased in the rectilinear state so as to improve straight line stability.

舵装置に関する。

ンジンの回転力をプロペラ5に伝えるドライブシャフト
を収容するドライブシャフト部6と、そのドライブシャ
フト部6の下方に設けられ、プロペラを回転自在に支持
するギヤケース7とから構成されている。

用を行なうギヤケースの前方に、そのギヤケースの側面
とともに全体が滑らかな翼型状の流線形をなすような固
定前を設けたので、ギヤケースを舷側に振った場合にも
旋回半径外側に沿う水の流れに剥離が生じにくくなり、
後方で回転するプロペラのスラストが減少することがな
く、旋回性能が向上する。また、上述のように水の流れ
に剥離が生じにくくなることから、ギヤケース側面に設
けられた吸水口における吸水性能の低下が防止され、エ
ンジントラブルが防止される。さらに、直進状態では舵
の弦長が増すことになり、直進安定性が向上する等の効
果を奏する。
