Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce crosstalk as well as to prevent noise by providing a shield plate composed of a three layer structure having a conductive plate and dielectric members laminated on both surfaces thereof, which is interposed between terminals of contacts and is connected to a metal shell. CONSTITUTION:A shield plate 6 is composed of a three layer structure having a conductive plate 61 made of cupper alloy which is bent for matching to the bent form of a contact terminal 12, for example, into a L-shape, and dielectric members 62 of a specified thickness made of ferroelectric material such as balium titanate stuck or bonded on both surfaces thereof. The shield plate 6 is inserted between the terminals 12 of plural contacts 1 planted on an insulator 3. On the side surface of the end of the conductive plate 61 abutted on the insulator 3, there is provided a tongue-like contact piece 61a electrically connected to both side surfaces of a back surface shell 22 made of metal. Both ends of the shield plate 6 is inserted between the contacts through positioning grooves 31, 32 formed between the insulator 3 and a terminal arrangement member 4, which causes the conductive plate to be connected to the earth potential and therefore it is possible to increase the capacity between the contact and the conductive plate.

[Detailed Description of the Invention] [Summary] Regarding an interface connector in which contacts are arranged in multiple rows, crosstalk between the contact rows is reduced by a shielding effect, and the capacitance between the contacts and the ground is reduced. The purpose of this invention is to improve the bypass characteristics against noise signals by increasing the number of noise signals, thereby providing a noise blocking function. It has a three-layer structure consisting of a metal shell that surrounds the fixing part and the contact part of the contact and is attached around an insulator, and a dielectric material laminated on both sides of a conductive plate. The structure includes a shield plate arranged between the columns and connected to the metal shell.

In recent years, with the spread of digital electronic devices, there are many opportunities for noise within the device to be radiated to the outside and adversely affect the operation of other electronic devices.
It is important to take measures against agnetic interference (electromagnetic interference). Therefore, technology has come into widespread use to provide a noise prevention function to the connector to which the input/output cable is connected to isolate the inside of the device and the external cable from noise.

In the figure, reference numeral 1 indicates a plurality of contacts, for example, a male contact portion 11 inserted into a contact of a mating connector.
Terminal part 1 which is bent into an L shape and connected to a printed board etc.
A plurality of rows of contacts 1 arranged in a line are implanted in an insulator 3 at a predetermined pitch and surrounded by a metal shell 2. The metal shell 2 consists of a front shell 21 that surrounds the contact part 11 side of the contact and a back shell 22 that surrounds the fixed part, and is integrated by being fastened with screws 23 or the like at the joints at both ends while sandwiching the insulator 3. and is connected to the ground potential of the signal transmission system. The insulator 3 is made of a molded product of an organic material, etc.
The contacts 1 are passed through to maintain a predetermined alignment. On the rear surface of the insulator 3, a terminal arrangement member 4 having abbreviated mounting portions 41 erected at both ends is mounted collinearly with screws 23. The terminal arrangement member 4 is made of an insulating material and has through-holes for passing through the vicinity of the tips of the terminal portions of the contacts and arranging them at a predetermined pitch, fastening holes for mounting on a printed board, and the like.

A shield plate 5 made of a conductive material bent in an L shape is inserted between the plurality of contact rows (two rows in the figure) so as to shield the terminal rows, and is connected to the rear end surface of the back shell 22 and grounded. It is at electric potential. Since the contact rows are shielded by this shield plate, crosstalk does not occur between the contact rows even when high-speed signals are transmitted (contact rows can be arranged with high density).

In other words, the terminal portion of the contact is electrically coupled to the shield plate via stray capacitance, and the high-speed components of noise passing through the contact are somewhat bypassed to the ground plate due to this stray capacitance. Since the capacity is extremely small, there is a problem in that the noise removal function is not sufficient.

In this method, a circular capacitor element, which has electrodes on the inner and outer peripheral walls of a circular dielectric, is passed through the terminal part of the contact to connect the contact to the inner peripheral electrode, and the outer peripheral electrode is connected to ground. A capacitor element of a predetermined capacity is connected between the connector and the ground, and the high frequency components of noise are bypassed to the ground and blocked at the connector. However, in this case, there is a problem of crosstalk because the shielding effect between the contacts is not sufficient, and there is also the problem of high cost because the capacitor element is passed through each contact.

Conventional shield plates were composed of only one layer of conductive material, so the space between the terminal part of the contact and the shield plate was separated by an air layer with a dielectric constant ε of 1. The electrostatic capacitance formed was only stray capacitance and was extremely small, but in the present invention, a dielectric material layer is interposed on both sides of the shield plate, so the electrostatic capacitance increases, and a capacitor element with a large capacitance can be placed between the contact and the ground. It is equivalent to connecting. For this reason, the impedance against common mode noise generated between each signal line and the ground is reduced, making it easier for high-frequency noise components transmitted through the contacts to bypass to the ground, preventing noise from entering the equipment through the connector, or from outside the equipment. Sending to can be prevented.

In addition, since the shield plate is provided between the terminal rows, it has a shielding effect that prevents crosstalk between the contact rows.
Even if the distance between the contact rows is narrowed to increase the density, the transmission characteristics of high-speed signals do not deteriorate.

In FIG. 1, a shield plate 6 is inserted between rows of terminal portions 12 of a plurality of contacts 1 implanted in an insulator 3 as shown by arrow A. A conductive plate 61 is bent into an L-shape, for example, and a dielectric member 62 of a predetermined thickness made of a ferroelectric material such as barium titanate is attached or adhered to both sides of the conductive plate 61. It has a three-layer structure. On the side surface of the end of the conductive plate 61 that contacts the insulator 3, tongue-shaped contact pieces 61a are provided to electrically connect to both sides of the metal back shell 22, as shown in FIG. a positioning groove 3 formed in the insulator 3 and the terminal arrangement member 4;
When both ends of the shield plate 6 are fitted in step 1.42 and inserted between the contact rows, the conductive plate is connected to the ground potential.

In this way, the dielectric member 62 made of a ferroelectric material is thickly present on the surface of the grounded conductive plate 61, so that the contact is stronger than when there is only an air layer between the terminal part of the contact and the conductive plate. The capacitance between the conductive plate and the conductive plate increases, the bypass effect against high frequency noise increases, and the noise blocking function improves.
