Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture a high damping steel pipe without losing high damping characteristics by brazing both side end parts of the circularly formed high damping steel sheet intermittently at a prescribed interval. CONSTITUTION:First, the coiled high damping steel sheet 5 which is uncoiled by an uncoiler 11 through plural stages of forming rolls 12 is formed in sequence into a circular shape to be worked in an open pipe 5A. Then, both side end parts 7, 8 of the open pipe 5A are butted by a pair of right and left push rolls 13 to form a seamed part 14 and the seamed part 14 is brazed by a brazing machine 15 at a prescribed pitch (p) to form the high damping steel pipe 5. Further, excess thicknesses 16 on the surface of the seamed part 14 are removed by a grinding machine 17 to uniformize the surface property of the high damping steel pipe 5B. The roundness of the high damping steel pipe 5B is adjusted by a sizer 18 and a continuously manufactured steel pipe 5B is cut by a cutting machine 17 in prescribed dimensions.

<Prior Art> Conventionally, as shown in FIG. 5, in a printing support roller of a typewriter or a computer printer, a metal tube 1 is attached to a presser metal fitting 3 supported by a roller shaft 2, and the outer surface of the roller is attached to a metal tube 1. Generally, a hard rubber layer 4 is wrapped around the surface.

Known examples of the metal tube 1 include double tubes made of lead or mild steel, and tubes made of aluminum alloy, for example, in order to maintain a silencing function. However, even if you use a metal tube like the one above, there is no sound! new noise prevention measures are required.

As one of the means to meet such demands for noise prevention, the use of damping steel plates, which are said to have high damping properties, has recently been attracting attention. This damping steel plate is made by interposing a viscoelastic resin as an intermediate layer between steel plates such as mild steel in a sand inch shape, and absorbs vibration energy through the sliding deformation of the viscoelastic resin due to bending vibrations received on its surface. It converts into thermal energy to exhibit a vibration damping effect, and attempts have been made to manufacture steel pipes using circular damping steel plates.

In addition, even if continuous welding is attempted using micro TIG welding, which uses a small current and has a small thermal effect, the resin directly under the weld will still melt and generate gas, and the gas will blow out and the weld will be damaged. There are problems such as the molten pool being destroyed and welding not being possible.

<Function> According to the present invention, since brazing is applied intermittently at predetermined intervals to both side edges of a vibration-damping steel plate formed into a circular shape, the thermal effect exerted on the abutting portions due to brazing can be reduced. Since the heat can be suppressed to a minimum and thereby the resin used for the intermediate layer is not affected by heat, it is possible to manufacture a vibration damping steel pipe that does not impair vibration damping properties.
