Abstract

PURPOSE:To suppress dispersion of exhaust noises by arranging, behind an engine, exhaust pipes used for respective front and rear side cylinders of a V-type transverse midship engine with respective catalysers provided thereto, and making exhaust pipe length from each cylinder to each catalyser nearly uniform. CONSTITUTION:In a midship type vehicle loaded with a V-type transverse engine, the V-type transverse midship engine 1 is provided with cylinder lines 3, 4 including respectively three cylinders arranged in a V-type in the longitudinal direction above a cylinder block 2. Further, they are arranged behind a bulkhead H defining the rear part of a compartment R of the vehicle, while also arranged toward the right side of a car body from the center line C of a car width. In this occasion, exhaust pipes 11 to 15, 21 to 25 of respective cylinder lines 3, 4 are extended to the rear of the engine 1 so as to be connected to catalysers 16, 26. And the lengths of the exhaust pipes from the cylinder lines 3, 4 to the catalysers 16, 26 are set nearly uniform, while both catalysers 16, 26 are arranged in the vicinity of nearly the center of the car width.

[Prior Art] In a mid-engine vehicle equipped with a V-type horizontal engine, an exhaust pipe for the left cylinder and an exhaust pipe for the right cylinder are extended outward from the engine, and a catalyzer (exhaust pipe) is installed in front of each of them. JP-A-63-247 discloses an arrangement structure in which a muffler is installed in front of each engine, and a muffler is installed in front of each engine.
This method is publicly known in Japanese Patent No. 120. This makes the weight distribution on the left and right sides of the vehicle uniform, and also makes the length of the exhaust pipes from both the left and right cylinders to the respective catalytic converters equal to prevent variations in exhaust sound.

[Problem to be solved by the invention] However, providing each catalytic converter and muffler on the left and right sides of the vehicle body in front of the engine reduces the interior of the vehicle, and the interior of the vehicle is likely to be affected by exhaust noise. This becomes a problem.

Therefore, the purpose of the present invention is to adopt a V-type horizontally mounted midship engine instead of a vertically mounted engine, and to suppress variations in exhaust sound by making the exhaust pipes from the front and rear inner cylinders to the respective catalytic converters have approximately equal lengths. , make the interior of the vehicle smaller,
While locating each exhaust pipe and catalytic converter behind the engine, the weight of the exhaust system up to the catalytic converter is brought closer to the center of the vehicle width to improve the weight balance of the vehicle, without affecting the body roll. An object of the present invention is to provide an exhaust system that can suppress the influence of weight.

[Means for Solving the Problems] In order to achieve the above problems, the present invention provides an exhaust pipe for the front cylinder and an exhaust pipe for the rear cylinder at the rear of the engine in a mid-ship vehicle equipped with a V-type horizontal engine. The exhaust pipes are extended, and a catalytic converter is provided in each exhaust pipe, and the lengths of the exhaust pipes from the front and rear inner cylinders to the respective catalytic converters are approximately equal, and both catalytic converters are placed close to each other about the width of the vehicle. do.

[Function] The exhaust pipes for the front cylinders and the exhaust pipes for the rear cylinders of a VWI-mounted mid-ship engine are extended to the rear of the engine, and a catalytic converter is provided on each of them, and the exhaust pipes from the front and rear inner cylinders to the respective catalytic converters are extended to the rear of the engine. Since the exhaust pipes are of approximately equal length, variations in exhaust sound are suppressed, and by arranging each exhaust pipe and catalytic converter to the rear of the engine, it is possible to eliminate the influence of space and noise into the passenger compartment.

In the embodiment, the engine l is arranged to the right of the vehicle width center line C, and the exhaust pipes 13 and 1 include the exhaust manifold 11 from the front cylinder row 3 to the catalytic converter 16.
4.15 is placed near the right side of the vehicle width center line C, while the exhaust pipes 23 and 24.25 including the exhaust manifold 21 from the rear cylinder row 4 to the catalytic converter 26 are projected to the left side of the vehicle width center line C. Turn around and return to vehicle width center line C
At the same time, the front cylinder catalytic converter 16 crosses the vehicle width center line C and faces to the left, and the rear cylinder catalytic converter 26 is placed above it to the right from the vehicle width center line C. By bringing the weight of the exhaust system close to the vehicle width center line C, it is possible to distribute it evenly between the left and right sides, and the weight balance of the vehicle can be improved.

[Effects of the Invention] As described below, according to the present invention, the exhaust pipes for the front and rear cylinders of a V-type horizontally mounted midship engine mounted on a vehicle are extended to the rear of the engine to form a catalytic converter. The length of the exhaust pipes from the front and rear cylinders to the respective catalytic converters is approximately the same, which suppresses variations in exhaust sound, and by arranging the exhaust pipes and catalytic converters toward the rear of the engine, the length of the exhaust pipes from the front and rear cylinders to the respective catalytic converters is approximately equal. The effects of space and noise can be eliminated.

Since both catalytic converters are placed close to the center of the vehicle, the weight of the exhaust system up to one catalytic converter can be brought closer to the center of the vehicle width, contributing to improving the weight and balance of the vehicle. The effect of this on vehicle body roll can be suppressed, without impairing the inherent maneuverability of the midship.
