Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve durability by forming a wrinkle for absorbing the thermal expansion of a heat insulating layer laminated on the surface of a rotary shaft in a heat generating layer. CONSTITUTION:A heating roll 11 is obtained by laminating the heat insulating layer 15 consisting of a foaming elastomer material as which silicone foaming rubber is good, the heat generating layer 17 connected to an outside power source at the end part in an axial direction and a protective layer 20 consisting of fluororesin on the metallic rotary shaft 13 in this order from the center to the outer periphery of the roll 11. Many wrinkles 19 extending in the axial direction are provided in the heat generating layer 17. Therefore, in the case that the heat insulating layer 15 consisting of the foaming elastomer material is thermally expanded with the temperature of the heating roll 11 rises, the heat generating layer 17 deforms corresponding to the thermal expansion, so that the heat insulating layer 15 is prevented from being pressed. 〈従来の技術〉 複写機等の電子写真プロセスを用いた電子写真装置にて
トナーを紙等の被転写手段に転写した後に定着させる熱
定着ロール装置に於ては、加熱ロールと圧着ロールとを
互いに密着させ、両ロールが互いに接するニップ部分に
被転写手段を通過させ、トナーを加熱すると同時に被転
写手段に圧着させるようにしているが、従来は加熱ロー
ルが昇温するまでに比較的長い時間を要していることか
ら、例えば同一出願人による特願昭63−57279号
明細書には、加熱ロールにシリコン発泡ゴム等の弾性材
からなる断熱・弾発層を設け、この断熱・弾発層表面の
全面に亘り金属製であって良い抵抗体からなる発熱層を
形成する構造が提案されている。この構造によれば発熱
層のみが昇温すれば上記した定着作業を行い得ることか
ら、加熱ロールの昇温時間が短縮される。

があった。また、断熱・弾発層内の空気が密封された状
態で温度変化による膨張・収縮を繰返すと、断熱・弾発
層のシリコン発泡ゴム等の耐久性が低下し易くなる。

れた電子写真装置の熱定着ロール装置を提供することに
ある。

により帯電されると同時にドラム1の表面部分に付着し
たトナーが用紙9に転写される。トナーを転写した後の
感光ドラム1の表面部分は清掃部6を通過し、残留トナ
ーが清掃される。そして露光ランプからなる除電部7に
於て軸線方向に概ね−様な電位に除電され再び上記した
プロセスを繰返すこととなる。一方、用紙9に転写され
たトナーは、定着部8に於て、加熱されると同時に用紙
9に圧着されることにより写像が用紙9に定着する。
