Abstract

PURPOSE:To suppress melting of a resin surface formed on a work and to prevent the generation of heat marks by cooling the coating surface of a vinyl chloride or the like with the latent heat of evaporation of the water impregnated in a cloth, thereby depriving the coating surface of the heat arriving at the same. CONSTITUTION:Five to six sheets of gauze which are superposed on each other are used as the water absorptive cloth 9. The gauze is placed on a stage 7 made of a copper plate and the end of the gauze 9 is immersed into a water receiver 8. The gauze is kept always wet with the water by capillarity. An instrument cluster body 1 which is the work made of a vinyl-coated steel plate is imposed on the gauze 9 by positioning the resin-coating surface of the work downward. A small projection 2a projected downward is formed to a retainer 2 which is the other work made of a steel plate and the retainer with its projection faced downward is imposed on the instrument cluster. The melting of the resin surface formed on the work is suppressed in this way and the generation of the heat marks is prevented.

[Means for Solving the Problems] In order to achieve the above object, the spot/8 contact method for a workpiece coated with vinyl chloride or the like of the present invention is implemented by placing a workpiece in water on a mounting table (7) made of a steel plate. Lay out a wet absorbent cloth (9),
On top of this, the resin-coated surface (
1a) is placed facing downward, and the other workpiece made of steel plate (2) is placed, and the spot welding electrode (4) is placed from above the steel plate workpiece, and this welding electrode A grounding rod (5) is brought into contact with the grounding rod (5) at a position slightly away from the grounding point for spot welding. Further, the end of the water-absorbing cloth (9) is dipped into a suitable water receptacle (8), so that the cloth is constantly kept wet by capillary action.

[Operation of the Invention] The spot welding method of the present invention is capable of powerfully cooling the heat reaching the coated surface of vinyl chloride or the like from the bottom surface of the spot welding electrode and ground rod by the latent heat of vaporization of water soaked into the cloth. As a result, melting of the resin surface applied to the workpiece is minimized and heat marks are not generated.
