Abstract

PURPOSE:To adjust the arrangement for displaying many digits without increasing the kinds of display units by freely inverting a display part at 180 deg. against a driving part so that it can be connected. CONSTITUTION:A display element 2 in the display part 1 is disposed on a printed wiring board 3 and housed in the head part 4a in a box shape in a display part case 4. In this case, when the display part 1 is inverted upside down at 180 deg. and an external connector 6 is made to be faced in a prescribed direction, external contacts 77-10 are made to be connected with an internal connector 15 shown by oblique lines, and since the external contacts 77-10 are short-circuited with the external contacts 71-4 each other, the display part 1 is rightly connected with the driving part corresponding to the terminals (a), (b), (c) and (d) in the display part 1. That means, the display part 1 can be connected with the driving part in both directions being inverted upside down at 180 deg.. Then, the display in the display part 1 can be freely selected in the same display unit not only in the direction of '+1' but also in the direction of '1+'. Thus, the title device can flexibly correspond to the adjustment for arranging the display.

However, conventional displays have the following drawbacks. That is, for example, in a display that displays "+1" in the leftmost digit in Fig. 7, if only "+" or "" is required to be displayed, "1" is inserted between the "+" or "" display and the next digit.
There is a gap only in the display, making the display unnatural. As a countermeasure, there is a way to invert the display 180 degrees vertically and move the "+" display to the right side of the diagram, as shown at 31A in the figure, but this time I would also like to use the "Engine" display. In some cases this is not possible. Also, “+1” is displayed and “
There would be no problem if two types of displays, each with a 10''' display, were prepared, but in that case, the number of types of displays would increase, which would increase costs. The present invention was developed in view of this situation. what has been done,
The object of the present invention is to provide a display device that can flexibly adjust the display arrangement.

Hereinafter, the present invention will be explained in detail based on FIGS. 1 to 6. First, FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view of a unitized display section 1, in which a display element 2 is mounted on printed wiring boards 41i and 3, and is housed in a box-shaped head 4a of a display section case 4. It has become. A translucent color cap 5 is attached to the head 4a.
is fitted and fixed with adhesive. A male connector 6 is coupled to the back surface of the printed wiring board 4 with male contacts 7 abutting against each other. The male connector 6 is inserted into the cylindrical body 4b of the display case 4, and the tip 7a of the male contact 7 faces the rear opening 4c. On the other hand, FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view of the drive section 8 which is unitized separately from the display section 1, showing a drive circuit 11 mounted separately on printed wiring boards 9 and 10 and a female connector connected to the printed wiring board 12. The connectors 13 are electrically connected to each other and housed together in the drive unit case 14.
The female connector 13 faces the front opening 14C. The drive unit case 14 is divided into upper and lower halves, and the upper and lower halves are connected by engagement of alternately formed pawls 14a and slots 14b, respectively. The display unit I and the drive unit 8 are coupled to each other, and the connection is made by inserting the drive unit case 14 into the slot 4d of the body of the display unit case 4.
This is done by engaging the claws 14d. At this time, the four legs 4e of the display case 40 are inserted into the front opening 14c of the drive case 14 and grip the female connector 13. At the same time, the tip 7a of the male contact 7 is connected to the female connector 13.
is inserted into the female contact 15 of the display section 1 and the drive section 8.
An electrical connection is made with the Now, within the display element 2, as shown in FIG.
ED chips 116-20 are arranged on a plane and form display segments 21-25. 26 is a terminal, and a total of 10 terminals 26 are led out from the display element 2 as shown in the figure. However, these ten terminals 26 are connected to each other on the printed wiring board 4, and the display section 1 is aggregated into four terminals shown in FIG. That is, the L-shaped chips I6 and 17 and the LED chips 18 and 19 are connected in series, and one terminal of these series circuits and one terminal of the LED chip 20 are combined as a common terminal, and eventually the fourth Four terminals a to d in the figure serve as input terminals from the drive unit 8. FIG. 5 shows the arrangement of the male contacts 7 of the male connector 6 to be connected to the terminals a to d. As shown in the figure, the male connector 6 has ten male contacts 7 with angles of 7I to 71 degrees. Further, on the back side of the printed wiring board 4 to which this male contact 7 is coupled, there is a fifth contact hole (not shown).
A connection pattern with the male contacts 7 is formed in the same arrangement as the arrangement of the male contacts 7 shown in the figure, and the base end of the male connector 6 is connected to this connection pattern by soldering. Then, this connection pattern and terminal a of display section 1
-d has the connection relationship shown in the upper part of FIG. Further, in the above connection pattern, points symmetrical with respect to the axis P of the connector shown in FIG. 5 are short-circuited on the printed wiring board 4 as shown by arrows A-D. As a result, the male contacts 7 connected to this connection pattern are also short-circuited in the correspondence relationship shown in FIG. therefore,
The terminals a, b, c, and d of the display section 1 are provided with two contacts 7 each symmetrical with respect to the axis P of the connector.
1 and 710.7□ and 7. .. 13 and 7. and 74 and 77 are connected together in pairs. On the other hand, in the female connector 13 connected to the male connector 6, the female contacts 15 corresponding to the male contacts L, 72, 73, and 74 should be connected to the respective terminals a, b, c, and d of the display section 1. Each terminal of the drive circuit is connected to each other. In such a configuration, the male connector 6 is now connected as shown in FIG.
When inserted into the female connector 13 in the direction shown in A), the female connector 15 on the drive unit 8 side corresponding to the terminals a, b, c, and d of the display unit 1 is in the shaded position, and the display unit 1
It is assumed that the drive unit 8 and the drive unit 8 are connected correctly. Next, if the display section is reversed 180 degrees vertically and the male connector 6 is oriented as shown in FIG. 6(B), the male contact 710
.. 7. 7. and 7. These contacts 7 are connected to the female connector 15 marked with diagonal lines. ,7w,7
Since the terminals e and 77 are short-circuited with the male contacts 7117□, 7, and 74, respectively, they correspond to the terminals a, b, c, and d of the display section 1, and in this case, the display section 1 and the drive section 8 will be connected correctly. In other words, according to the configuration of the illustrated embodiment, the display section 1 is connected to the drive section 8.
It can be connected either up or down 180 degrees counter-axis. Therefore, for example, in the case of FIG.
” orientation can be freely selected on the same display, and the above-mentioned inconvenience can be easily resolved. In the illustrated embodiment, the number of contacts in the connector is 10, but two contacts are idle. In the case shown in the figure, it is sufficient to have eight contacts. In other words, the number of contacts should be at least twice the number of terminals required to connect the display section and the drive section. Although the case where the axis is reversed is shown, it is also possible to configure it so that the left and right sides are reversed by 180 degrees.
