Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a light-weight gypsum board having improved bonding strength between a base paper for board and a gypsum core material by casting a specific slurry between a pair of board base papers and forming the slurry. CONSTITUTION:A liquid mixture is produced by stirring and mixing (A) 100 pts.wt. of burnt gypsum, (B) a mixture of 3-20 pts.wt. of a light-weight aggregate (e.g., perlite) and 0.1-0.5 pts.wt. of an inorganic fiber (e.g., glass fiber having a length of 6-25mm), (C) 70-30 pts.wt. of water, (D) 0.05-1.0 pt.wt. of a water- reducing agent (e.g., calcium ligninsulfonate) and (E) 3-20 pts.wt. of an acrylic copolymer resin emulsion. The liquid mixture is kneaded with 0.1-1.0wt.% of foam produced by frothing a surfactant and uniformly kneaded to obtain a slurry. The objective light-weight gypsum board having a thickness of 7-30mm and a bulk specific gravity of 0.40-0.65 can be produced by pouring the slurry into a space between a pair of base papers for board and forming in the space.
