The manufacturing process for forged products such as crankshafts includes, for example, a billet process in which a round bar-shaped steel material is cut into a predetermined length, a roll and star process to prepare the cross-sectional shape, and a preliminary (rough) process.
It consists of a Protzker process, which is processing, a Fischer process, which is finishing, and a trimming process, which removes firmness (see Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 59-225842). The Haster process, Protzker process, Fischer process, and trimming process are performed by presses, and the press used in the Protzker process is equipped with a preforming die, and the press used in the Fischer process is equipped with a finishing die. It will be done. The preformed product formed in the preform mold is then transferred to the finishing mold, and is pressed in the finishing mold to be finished molded.

However, as mentioned above, since the steel material is crushed by the strong force of the press and the excess material is released into the burr forming part 12b,
As the cumulative number of preforms 13 molded in the preform mold 10 increases, the edge portions 11c and 12
c wears out and its radius of curvature gradually increases. As the radius of curvature of the edge portions 11c and 12C increases, the radius of curvature of the connecting portion 13c increases accordingly. Therefore, as shown in FIGS. 9(a) and 9(b), when the above-mentioned preformed product 13 is transferred onto the finishing mold 14, the connecting portion 13c of the preformed product 13 is connected to the lower mold 15 of the finishing mold 14. The main body part 13a cannot be accurately accommodated in the main body forming part 15a by the edge part 15c, and the preform 13 is set on the lower mold 15 in an inclined or floating state. When finishing molding is carried out under such conditions, "wrinkles", "galling", "curling", etc. will occur in the finished molded product at the areas indicated by arrows A and B in the figure, etc.
This has led to the problem of frequent production of defective products.

According to the above configuration, as the edge portion of the lower die of the preform is worn out, its radius of curvature gradually increases, and accordingly, the radius of curvature of the connecting portion of the burr on the preform increases (even if it becomes thicker). This burr is formed above the normal position, so when the preform is transferred onto the lower mold of the finishing mold, the connecting part of the preform is on the edge of the lower mold of the finishing mold. The main body of the preformed product can be accurately accommodated within the main body forming part.If the final molding is performed in such a state, there will be no wrinkles, cracks, curls, etc. in the finished molded product. In addition, the burrs are pushed down to their proper positions during this final forming stage.
Subsequent trimming etc. can be performed without any inconvenience.
