軸孔5においてベアリング6,7を介して前記固
定軸2に対して回転自在に外挿冠着されており、
図示しない駆動源によつて回転するものである。
また、固定軸2と軸孔5との間の隙間8にはベア
リング6,7の焼付防止を目的として潤滑油が充
填されており、該潤滑油は、ハウジング1に形成
した環状凹部9に対して気密的に嵌着固定された
固定環10と、Oリング11を介して傘状回転体
3に気密的に固定され、その外径側に形成された
摺動端面12′において前記固定環10の摺動端
面10′と密接摺動する回転環12とよりなるメ
カニカルシールMによつて密封されている。

対し、その回転によつて周囲の流体等を外径側へ
排出せしめる方向に傾斜する構成としたものであ

10′,14′において互いに密接摺動するよう構
成されたものである。前記回転環14は、第2図
および第3図に単独で示すように、テーパ状を呈
するその外側面14′の外径側に、所要数の羽根
部材15,15…が周方向等配状に突設されてお
り、また該各羽根部材15はその平面形状におい
て、外径側が、外径方向に対して時計回りの方向
へ湾曲する傾斜部15′を有している。このため、
固定軸2を中心として、図示しない駆動源により
傘状回転体3が回転し、これに伴つて回転環14
が第3図において反時計回り、すなわち矢印A方
向に従動回転した場合、当該メカニカルシール
M′の外側の泥水等は、羽根部材15,15…の
回転によつて矢印A方向に回転流動せしめられる
とともに、その遠心力によつて外径方向へ流動
し、さらに前記羽根部材15,15…の各傾斜部

め、前記泥水等は強制的に外径方向へ排出せしめ
られることとなり、よつてメカニカルシール
M′の摺動面10′,14′間へ侵入せんとする泥
水等を排除するようになる。
