Abstract

PURPOSE: To keep the clearance between a backup roll and a nozzle constant by operating a air cylinder, and pressing the nozzle toward the backup roll.
CONSTITUTION: The applicator is composed of the coating soln. discharge nozzle 10 and the backup roll 3 arranged above and in parallel with the nozzle 10. Both ends of the nozzle 10 are supported by a rotary arm 30 to adjust the clearance between the nozzle 10 and the backup roll 3. An air cylinder holding member 50 is provided between both rotary arms 30, and the bend adjusting cylinder 40 is fixed tote holding member 50 so that the lower surface of the nozzle can be pressed by the piston rod 42. Namely, the air cylinder 40 is operated to press the nozzle 10 toward the roll 3 and to adjust the clearance between the roll 3 and the nozzle 10 at the position of the air cylinder to a desired value, and the clearance between the roll 3 and the nozzle 10 can be kept constant.
