先端とを、両端に自在継手が設けられた中間軸を
介し連結して構成されるステアリングシヤフト構
造において、前記中間軸は、前記一方の自在継手
が一端部に接続され周壁部に内側へ突き出るカシ
メ部を軸方向に沿つて複数成形してなるパイプ部
材と、前記他方の自在継手が一端部に接続され他
端部が前記パイプ部材の他端部内に圧入されて固
定される軸部材と、この軸部材の少なくとも前記
カシメ部で固定される固定部間の外周面に設けら
れ当該固定力を越える縮む方向の外力が加わつた
とき、軸部材をカシメ部に対し干渉させないよう
にするための空隙部とから構成されることを特徴
