うに開口して設け、更に、消音器1内には消音効
果を主目的とする主排気流路7と、背圧抑制効果
を主目的とする副排気流路8を設け、該主排気流
路7の流入側を前記主排気流入路4に連通し、副
排気流路8の流入側を前記副排気流入路5に連通
したことを特徴とするものである。図面に示す実
施例において、消音効果を主目的とする主排気流
路7は、その後部を消音器1内の各拡張室9に連
通するように構成して該主排気流路7に流入した
排気音を消音して排気を排気内筒10より外部へ
排出するようになつている。また、背圧抑制効果
を主目的とする副排気流路8は、これより流出し
た排気が、消音器1の共鳴発生室9に流入するこ
となく、直ちに排気内筒10へ流入するようにし
て、その排気に背圧が大きく作用しないようにな
つている。

のため、ベンチユリ部3を通つてきた排気は、前
記バイパス路6より噴出した排気の噴出力によつ
て図示実線の如く、副排気流入路5へ変流され
る。したがつて、機関よりの排気は副排気流入路
5を通り消音器1内の副排気流路8へ流入し、消
音器1内の拡張室9へ流入することなく直ちに排
気内筒10へ流入して外部に排出される。したが
つて、この機関の高回転域においては背圧が少な
くなり機関の出力を向上させることができる。
尚、このとき消音効果はあまり発揮されないが、
機関の高回転域においては排気音の運転者への影
響は比較的少ないので消音についてはあまり問題
