Abstract

PURPOSE:To shorten the time for operation guidance by selecting the speed of the operation guidance at the head of a call processing sequence, and thinning out data on the operation guidance to half for a user two has an experience of several-time use and generating a speech. CONSTITUTION:A speech control part when sending out an operation guidance message performs two kinds of operation according to the indication of a system control part. Namely, when the speed is increased, data on the digitized operation guidance is voiced while thinned out to half to reduce the time for the operation guidance to half. Further, when a slow speed is indicated, constant- time voiceless parts are provided before and after a word corresponding to the key word of the fractionized operation guidance. Consequently, the time for the operation guidance is shortened.

Next, a control flow for outputting an operation guidance message of the voice response device will be explained using FIGS. 2 and 3. Third
The figure shows an example of order reception for telephone shopping or the like. When you call the designated phone number from home,
A call arrives at the voice response device from the subscriber line 1 in FIG. 2, and the network control unit 2 performs ringing detection and call connection processing for loop-on operation. When the call state is entered, the necessary operation guidance message is sent from the disk 5 to the voice control unit 3 by the system control unit 6 via the disk control unit 4, and after being stored, the network control unit 2 sends the necessary operation guidance message to the subscriber line 1. It is sent to the terminal side via. The initial guidance for the call is shown in Figure 3 [This is the order reception center]. Please press your member number and #. ", and based on this guidance, press your membership number r555'z and "#" on the terminal side. These PB double signals are received by the network control section 2 in FIG. 2, and the system control section 6 instructs to send out the next guidance "Press your password and #" in the same manner as above. Following the flow shown in Figure 3, the voice response device returns to its initial state and becomes ready to accept new calls after sending the final message "We have certainly received your order. Thank you." The details of the order and the delivery address are confirmed with the host computer via the data link control unit 8 and data link 9 during the call, and if there are no problems on the host computer side, an order and delivery slip is immediately issued.

With the guidance messages of the conventional voice response device described above, it is painful for terminal operators who have used the terminal many times to listen to long operation guidance, and it is also a waste of time. Furthermore, since a considerable portion of the call time is spent on operational guidance messages, the user has the disadvantage of feeling like he or she is paying unnecessary call charges.

The voice response control method of the present invention selects, at the beginning of a call processing sequence, the speed of operation guidance messages from a voice response device that sends various messages to the terminal side according to instruction information from the terminal via a public network. The configuration is such that when the instruction is given to speed up, the operation guidance message is made faster, and when it is instructed to be slower, a certain period of silence is inserted before and after the key words of the operation guidance message.

The configuration diagram of the voice response device is as shown in FIG. 2 as in the conventional case, and the functions of each part except the voice control section are the same as in the conventional explanation. In sending out the operation guidance message, the voice control section performs the following two operations in addition to sending out the normal operation guidance message according to instructions from the system control section. First, when the speed is increased, the operation guidance data is decimated 1/2 times and converted into audio when converting the digitized operation guidance into audio, thereby cutting the operation guidance in half the time. The second method is to insert a certain period of silence (1 to 2 seconds) before and after the word corresponding to the keyword in the subdivided operation guidance when instructed to be slow. FIG. 1 is an example of a case where a slow instruction is given, and the following two points differ from the conventional flow shown in FIG. 3. First, at the beginning of the call, the voice response device requests the terminal to select a guidance speed. The next difference is that in the guidance of FIG. 1, a certain period of silence (indicated by a square mark) is inserted before and after the keyword word to separate the guidance.
