In electrophotographic copying machines and the like, a fur brush cleaning device is used as a means for cleaning toner remaining on the surface of the photoreceptor after the toner image formed on the surface of the photoreceptor is transferred to a transfer material. In this case, the residual toner on the surface of the photoreceptor is scraped off by the fur brush, and the scraped toner is suspended in the air, carried by the air flow from the blower, and collected by the filter. However, little attention has been paid to the drive of the blower in the past, and generally the blower is configured to start driving when the fur brush starts rotating and stop driving when the fur brush stops rotating, or to stop driving when the fur brush stops rotating. It was configured to operate at all times regardless of the rotational state. Such conventional techniques have problems such as toner scattering to the peripheral areas, toner accumulation due to toner falling during the route, and power consumption.

Hereinafter, specific embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram of an electrophotographic copying machine equipped with a fur brush cleaning device having a blower. That is, in FIG. 1, a photosensitive drum 1 is provided rotatably in the direction of the arrow, and around the photosensitive drum 1, a charging device 2, an exposure device 3, a developing device 4, and a transfer separation device 5 are installed according to the direction of rotation. , a static eliminator 6, and a fur brush cleaning device 7 are provided. Therefore, as the photosensitive drum rotates, the surface of the photosensitive drum 1 is charged by the charging device 2.
The exposure device 3 exposes the document image to light to form an electrostatic latent image. Then,
The electrostatic latent image is developed by a developing device 4 to form a toner image. This toner image is transferred onto transfer paper 8 by transfer separation device 5, and the transferred image transferred onto transfer paper 8 is then fixed. After the transfer, the toner remaining on the surface of the photosensitive drum 1 is neutralized by a static eliminator, and is sent to the cleaning device 7 so that it can be easily removed from the surface of the photosensitive drum 1 .

The fur brush cleaning device 7 includes a fur brush 7a, a frit cover 7b, an air flow path 7c, a filter 7d, and a blower 7e. Therefore,
The toner remaining on the photosensitive drum 1 is scraped off from the surface of the photosensitive drum 1 by the fur brush 7a. Then, as the fur brush 7a rotates, the brush comes into contact with the frit cover 7b, and the toner scraped onto the brush is suspended in the air flow flowing through the air flow path 7c. The air flow flowing through the air flow path 7c is formed by the rotation of the blower 7e. Therefore, the toner suspended in the air is sent to the blower 7e, and is captured and recovered by the filter 7d on the way.

In the fur brush cleaning method as shown in FIG. 1, it is conceivable to drive the blower 7e in constant rotation, but in that case it is not a special solution as it wastes power and also becomes a source of noise. on the other hand,
In the prior art, the blower 7e is generally driven at the same time as the fur brush 7a is driven, but in this case, problems such as toner scattering and toner accumulation in the middle of the toner path occur. The present invention has been made focusing on these points, and firstly, the blower 7e
If the fur brush 7a is driven and rotated at the same time as the fur brush 7a, there is a time delay in forming an air flow through the entire fur brush cleaning device 7, and during this time delay, there is a gap between the fur brush outer wall 7f and the photosensitive drum 1. Since the toner is scattered outside from the cleaning device 7, the blower 7e is rotated before the brush 7a is rotated, and the brush 7a is rotated after the airflow is formed through the entire cleaning device 7. It is. By doing this, the time delay is compensated for and the toner is prevented from being scattered outside. Furthermore, blower 7
The time interval between the start of the rotational drive of the brush 7a and the start of the rotational drive of the brush 7a is appropriately determined in consideration of various conditions such as the suction force of the blower 7e, the pressure drop in the filter 7d, and the size and shape of the air flow path 7c. shall be carried out.

On the other hand, when the blower 7e is stopped at the same time as the fur brush 7a, the toner floating in the air flow path 7c naturally falls and is deposited at the bottom of the flow path 7c. Once the toner has accumulated on the bottom, it is difficult to remove it even if the blower 7e is rotated again, and this causes further accumulation of toner, resulting in a reduction in the cleaning effect and clogging of the flow path. Therefore, in the present invention, the blower 7e is maintained in a rotating state for a predetermined period of time even after the fur brush 7a has stopped. By doing this, the air flow is maintained in the air flow path 7c after the fur brush 7a stops, so that the toner floating in the flow path 7c is sucked by the blower 7e and completely replenished into the filter 7d. It will be captured. Therefore, toner accumulation in the air flow path 7c is prevented, and the desired cleaning effect can be expected at all times.
Maintenance becomes easier. Even in this case, the time interval between the stop of the fur brush 7a and the stop of the blower 7e is determined as appropriate depending on various conditions such as the suction force of the blower 7e. Note that FIG. 1 shows a case where, for example, a microcomputer 10 is used to control the rotational drive of the drum 1, brush 7a, blower 7e, etc.
