隔が短かいと、バルブタイミングの調整によつて
は、カムと調整部材とが衝突してしまい、必要な
バルブタイミングが得られなくなり、又、これを
避けるため調整部材とスリツパとの間隔をひろげ
るとロツカアーム自身が長くなり、重量が増加
し、そのためバルブのサージング及びジヤンピン
グ等を生じてエンジン回転数が低くなつてしま
い、これはエンジンの出力の低下につながり好ま
しくない。更に、これを防ぐためバルブスプリン
グの荷重を高くセツトすると、こんどはバルブの
作動荷重が著しく高くなり駆動のための機械損失
が多くなり同様に出力の低下につながり好ましく
ない。

本発明はかゝる不都合を改良するため調整部材
とスリツパとの間隔を伸ばすことなくロツカアー
ムとカムとが設置できるようにした装置を得るこ
とをその目的としたもので、エンジンの吸排気弁
のバルブを、ロツカアームを介して動弁カム軸上
のカムで開閉制御させるものにおいて、該カムを
該カム軸上の適宜間隔の少くとも2個の両半部に
分割して構成させると共に、該ロツカアームに該
間隔内に臨ませて隙間調整部材を備えて成る。本
発明実施の1例を別紙図面に付説明する。図面で
1はエンジンの吸排気系のバルブを示し、該バル
ブ1はこれに係合するその上側のロツカアーム2
を介してその上側の動弁カム軸3上のカム4によ
り開閉制御されるようにした。

にその一方の端部のカムスプロケツト12で該エ
ンジンのクランク軸に連結させ、かくて該ホルダ
9の揺動によれば両カム4,8が共に該アーム2
に係合する状態、従つてバルブ1は第5図に線a
で示す高速用バルブリフトカーブに従つて開閉す
る状態と、両カム4,8の一方のみが該アーム2
に係合する状態、従つてバルブ1は第5図に線b
で示す低速用バルブシフトカーブに従つて開閉す
る状態とが自在に得られるようにした。尚該ホル
ダ9にはこれを揺動するアーム13を備えるもの
で、該アーム13の先端にはその前方のストツパ
14との間に第2の隙間調整部材15が備えられ
るものとする。尚該部材15は略同様アジヤスト
スクリユ15aとナツト15bとから成る。

る特許請求の範囲第1項所載のエンジンにおける
動弁カム装置。
