Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the input of abnormal picture data and to constantly input normal picture data by stopping the scanning of an original and displaying that a light source is abnormal when the light source is decided to be abnormal. CONSTITUTION:A lighting identifying circuit 11 decides whether the white data of inputted binary data is more than 50% of a whole or not, if it is below 50%, it decides that any abnormality is generated and informs the result to a reading system control part 6. Then, the control part 6 decides whether the picture data is normal or not and when it is not normal, the control part 6 executes counting. When the counted value is decided to be n-th times, the control part 6 makes a light source abnormality display circuit 12 display the abnormality and stops the setting of the original 2 to its scanning position.

(Prior Art) Conventionally, the configuration of a reading system of a facsimile machine is as shown in FIG. A document 2 placed on a back plate 1 is illuminated by a light source 3 such as a fluorescent lamp. This light source 3 is driven by a light source drive circuit 4, and the light source drive circuit 4 is driven by a lighting control circuit 5.
controlled by In response to a command from the reading system control section 6, the lighting control circuit 5 operates the light source drive circuit 4 to turn on the light source 3. The light emitted from the light source 3 hits the document surface and is reflected, and this reflected light enters the photoelectric conversion circuit 7 where it is photoelectrically converted and becomes image data. 'The gain of this image data is adjusted to a constant level by the AGC (automatic gain adjustment) circuit 8, and the gain is further adjusted to a constant level by the ACC (automatic contrast adjustment) circuit 8.
After its contrast is adjusted by circuit 9, 2
The signal is input to the value conversion circuit 10. The binarization circuit 10 binarizes the input image data into black and white binary data, and outputs this binarized data to the reading system control section 6.

(Problem to be Solved by the Invention) In the above-mentioned conventional document reading control device of a facsimile machine, the document scanning is started unconditionally after a certain period of time after the light source is turned on, and image data is read. Therefore, due to an abnormality in the light source or the light source drive circuit, the light source may not turn on or the light intensity may decrease abnormally.
Alternatively, even if it takes an abnormally long time for the light source to turn on, there is a drawback that the image data obtained by scanning the original is inputted as is. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION Therefore, the present invention aims to eliminate the above-mentioned drawbacks, and provides a document reading control device that can prevent the input of abnormal image data and always input normal image data to perform smooth document reading control. It is an object.

(Function) In the document reading control device of the present invention, the scanning control means scans the document and, before starting reading, reads a predetermined portion other than the document to obtain image data, and passes the image data to the light source abnormality determination means. The light source abnormality determining means compares the image data obtained from the scanning control means with a predetermined reference value to determine whether the light source is normal or abnormal, and notifies the abnormality display control means of the determination result. When the light source abnormality determination means determines that the light source is abnormal, the abnormality display control means stops scanning the document and displays a message indicating that the light source is abnormal.

Next, the operation of this embodiment will be explained according to the flowchart shown in FIG. When the reading system control unit 6 recognizes that the original 2 has been set in step 201, it issues a lighting command for the light source 3 to the lighting control circuit 5 in step 202. As a result, the lighting control circuit 5 turns on the light source drive circuit 4 and lights the light source 3. Next, the reading system control unit 6 waits for a certain period of time in step 203.
Go to step 204. In step 204, the back plate 1 is scanned to input image data (same as the read data), and this is sent to the lighting identification circuit 11. At this time, the light from the light source 3 reflected by the back plate 1 is photoelectrically converted into image data by the photoelectric conversion circuit 7, and then the level and contrast are adjusted by the AGC circuit 8 and the ACC circuit 9. ,2
It is binarized by the digitization circuit 10 and sent to the reading system control section 6.
is input. The lighting identification circuit 11 determines whether the white data of the input binary data is, for example, 50% or more of the total, and if the white data is 50% or more, the light source is lighting normally. If it is 50% or less, it is determined that some abnormality has occurred, and the reading system control unit 6 is notified of the result. Therefore, in step 205, the reading system control unit 6 determines whether the image data is normal or not. If it is normal, the process goes to step 208, and if it is not normal, the process goes to step 206.

In step 208, the document 2 is fed to the scanning position, scanning is started, reading control is performed, and the post-processing is ended. In step 206, it is determined whether or not the process in step 205 is the nth time, and if it is less than the nth time, step 207 is performed.
The process returns to step 204, which is delayed for a certain period of time. If it is determined in step 207 that the process in step 205 has been performed for the nth time, the reading system control unit 6 causes the light source abnormality display circuit 12 to display an abnormality display in step 209, and in step 210, the reading system control unit 6 causes the light source abnormality display circuit 12 to Setting at that scanning position is stopped and the process ends.

Note that in step 20B, the process of step 205 is
If the data obtained by scanning the back plate 1 is abnormal, it is determined whether the reading data of the back plate 1 in step 204 is repeated n times and the light source 3 is still correctly lit. This is to perform the processing from step 209 onwards if the process is not possible.

According to this embodiment, before starting scanning of the original 2, the back plate 1 is scanned to determine whether the light source is normal or abnormal, and if abnormal, the scanning of the original is stopped, so that abnormal data cannot be read. can be prevented. Furthermore, in the event of an abnormality, the light source abnormality display circuit 12 can notify the operator of the abnormality, so that the abnormality in the facsimile machine can be quickly repaired by taking appropriate measures.
