Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the stain of a head due to dust generated in a DE and to reduce the fault of head crash by always sending a fresh air between disks from the sinking comb of a cavity type spoiler. CONSTITUTION:An air circulation path in the DE is formed by the rotation of the disk 2 in such a way that A becomes an air discharge outlet and B becomes an air flow inlet. And a filter 8 is provided at a part where pressure at an outlet side A is comparatively high, and the air is blown by the filter 8, and a discharge outlet 13 side is connected by a sinking comb shape cavity type spoiler 15 arranged at the inlet B with comparatively low pressure and a duct 14. The air (a) discharged from the disk 2 is blown in the filter 8, and the clean air (a') passes through the duct 14, and is guided by the spoiler 15, then, sent between each disk 2.

Even if the head disk assembly (HDA) is sealed as described above, some dust will still be generated inside the head disk assembly (HDA). The probability of occurrence is high when starting/stopping disk rotation or when driving a positioner. Therefore, in order to ensure the flying stability of a magnetic head of 1 μm or less, it is necessary to remove internally generated dust.

FIGS. 3(a) and 3(b) are diagrams illustrating a conventional magnetic disk device. In the figure, I denotes a base, on which a plurality of discs 2 are held by a spindle 3 and rotated by a motor (not shown). Also, read information on disk 2/
A helad arm 5 (having a magnetic head 4) for writing is fixed to an actuator 6 and placed opposite to the disk 2. Note that 7 is a cover for sealing. An air circulation path formed in an airtight container (hereinafter referred to as DE) by the rotation of the disc 2 has the head arm 5 as the center, with section 8 serving as an air inlet and section A serving as an air outlet. As shown in the figure, a filter 8 is provided in the area where the pressure is high due to the air discharged from the disk 2, and a dust trapping structure is adopted in which the filter inlet 9 is connected to the center of the spindle 3 where the pressure is relatively low by a duct 11. be.

The filter 8 is located in the upper part of the DB, and has a filter inlet 9 in a place where the air pressure is high, and the air is discharged through a duct 11 into a place where the air pressure is low, thereby purifying the entire DE air.

In this case, the air discharged from the disc 2 is discharged to the A part and stirred, so it is not necessarily 100% purified by the filter, and some air flows to the head arm 5, and the air between the discs 2 (especially (near the magnetic head 4), there is no guarantee that clean air will always flow. Therefore, there is a problem in that the air bearing surface of the magnetic head 4 and the disk 2 are contaminated, resulting in a head crash failure.

The above-mentioned problem is solved by a magnetic disk in which an actuator 6 having a head arm 5 and a spindle 3 for holding and rotating a plurality of discs 2 are housed in a closed container, as shown in FIGS. □ An air purifying filter 8 is provided in the airtight container near the inter-disk chamber air outlet A where the pressure is relatively high, and the outlet 13 of the filter 8 is connected to the outlet 13 of the air filter 8 through a duct 14. The magnetism of the present invention is constructed such that a connected comb-shaped hollow spoiler 15 is installed near the air inlet B between the two discs, and the comb teeth 16 having an air outlet are located between the two discs. Solved by disk device.

A filter 8 for the purpose of air purification is installed in the part of the disk 2 where the pressure is relatively high on the air outlet A side, the air is blown through the filter 8, and the outlet 13 side is connected to the disk 2 where the pressure is relatively low. It is connected by a duct 14 to a comb-like hollow spoiler 15 installed on the air inlet B side of the air inlet B side. A combined perspective view of the comb-shaped hollow spoiler 15 and the duct 14 is shown in the second figure.
As shown in the figure. The comb teeth 16 have a plurality of holes 17 for blowing out air. This hole 17 is made small at the upper stage of the comb teeth 16 because the blowing air pressure is high, and is made larger toward the lower stage because the air pressure decreases. The number and size of the holes 17 are determined by the number of discs, but in this example, when the disc is 10.51 mm, the comb teeth 16 have 5 holes with a diameter of 3φ. 18 is a mounting hole for mounting on the base.

sent in between. As a result, clean air is always sent between the disks 2 during two rotations of the disks, so the air near the head is also purified, and it is possible to prevent the head from being contaminated by dust generated in the DE.

In addition, when observing head dirt using a microscope in a device to which the present invention is applied, it was found that, for example, in a device with 20 head cores, all 20 were dirty under the same usage conditions, but this In the example, the number of contaminants was 10 or less, and the head contamination was reduced to 50% or less.
