DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION [Field of Industrial Application] The present invention relates to a method for preventing edge build-up that occurs during coiling of electroplated steel sheets, particularly thickly plated steel sheets.

When electroplating a steel plate, as shown in Fig. 3, the current concentrates on the edge of the steel plate 1, and the plating 2
In this case, the edges become locally thick and the plating appears to be raised. Thick plating at the edges like this does not cause any particular problem with conventional thin plating with a basis weight of 40 g/m 2 or less, but recent electroplating tends to be thicker, and this In the case of a thickly plated material, the plating on both edges becomes thicker than the crown of the original plate, which causes the problem of edge build-up when wound into a coil, destroying the coil shape. To address this problem, countermeasures have been taken to prevent the concentration of current on the edge portions by a method called masking, but the effect is not sufficient.

The present invention was developed in view of such conventional problems, and involves crushing and flattening the thick plated portion of the edge portion of an electroplated steel plate with a masher roll, and then flattening the thick plated portion of the edge portion of the electroplated steel plate, and then flattening the plated portion protruding from the edge end face on the downstream side. The kimono is removed by mechanical means, thereby preventing edge build-up of the plated steel plate during coiling.

FIGS. 1 and 2 show an embodiment of the present invention, in which numeral 3 is a masher roll, 4 is a roll supporting the steel plate at the bottom of the masher roll, and 5 is a scraper which is a mechanical means for scraping off deposits from plating. .

Before the plated steel plate 1 is formed into a coil, the thick plated portions at the edges of the plated steel plate 1 are crushed and flattened by a masher roll 3. Since the plating deposits such as Zn and Fe-Zn are extremely soft compared to the base steel plate, they are easily flattened by forced crushing by the masher roll 3 as described above. Due to this crushing of the edge plating part, the crushed part of the plating deposits 2' protrudes from the edge end surface, but
Such plating deposits 2' are scraped off by a scraper 5 provided on the downstream side of the masher roll.

Normally, the area where plating bulges occur at the edge of a steel plate is about 10 mm from the edge end face, and therefore, the range l to be crushed by the masher roll 3 is at most 30 mm from the edge end face.

The steel plate 1 is wound into a coil after the above-described treatment, but since the edge plating portion is flattened, edge build-up can be appropriately avoided.

According to the present invention described above, it is possible to eliminate localized thick plating portions that occur at the edge portions of electroplated steel sheets,
This has the effect of appropriately preventing edge build-up during coiling.
