Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently lead travel air so as to be able to miniaturize radiators by binding the front part of a side plate for covering each radiator, to the side face of the radiator, and extending the front end of the side plate frontward so as to be opened in the cross direction of a motorcycle. CONSTITUTION: Travel air is led to lateral radiators 18a, 18b by side plates. Front ends 32a, 32b of the side plates are extended frontward so as to be opened in the cross direction of a motorcycle, thereby enlarging travel air intake port area. A large quantity of travel air can therefore be led to the radiators 18a, 18b so as to improve cooling performance. The side plates form shrouds to straighten travel air passing through the radiators 18a, 18b, and at the same time, take in travel air also from below a lower bracket and lead it to the radiators 18a, 18b so as to serve for further improvement of cooling performance. The improvement of cooling performance results in the improvement of heat exchanging efficiency, so that the radiators 18a, 18b can be miniaturized.

In a motorcycle equipped with a water-cooled engine, it is preferable to install a radiator for cooling the engine cooling water in a position where the motorcycle is exposed to good wind. In conventional motorcycles of this type, the radiator is usually attached to the rear of the front wheel, that is, to the downtube.

However, this position makes it easy for the mud thrown up by the front wheels to come off. For this reason, it is best to install the radiator as high as possible, but in the part of the down tube near the steering head pipe, the mudguard for the front wheel is installed in front of the radiator, and the front 7 oak is also located. This makes it difficult for the airflow to directly hit the radiator, reducing the amount of air flowing through the radiator. As a result, the radiator becomes larger for the same amount of heat radiation.

Next, the operation of this embodiment will be explained. While the engine 16 is in operation, the cooling water flows through the pipe 28, the left side jetter 18a,
It passes through the pipe 30 and the right 2 jetter 18b to be cooled and returns to the engine 16. While driving, the driving wind is displayed on the Zetsuken display board 6.
0 through the air guide plate 58 toward the radiator 18 . Next, the running wind is taken in by the side plate 32 and reliably guided to the radiator 18. Front ends 32a, 32b of side plate 32
extends forward so as to open in the width direction of the vehicle, increasing the intake area for airflow. Therefore, it is possible to introduce a larger amount of traveling wind to the radiator 18 than in a case where the airflow is not expanded in this way, and the cooling performance of the radiator 18 is improved. Also, the side plate 32
forms a shroud and rectifies the running wind passing through the radiator, and at the same time takes in the running wind from below the lower bracket 46 and guides it to the radiator 18, which helps to further improve the cooling performance of the radiator 18. The running wind that has passed through the radiator 18 is guided to the side plate 32 and the wall 20a of the fuel tank 20, and most of it is exhausted from the window 40 of the side plate 32.
The remainder is guided by the wall 20a and flows below the tank 20, so that it does not remain behind the radiator 18. Improving the cooling performance of the radiator 18 in this way improves the heat exchange efficiency.

Since the present invention is constructed as described above, the radiator is located at a relatively high position above the road surface so that mud thrown up by the front wheels is difficult to adhere to the radiator, a mudguard is attached to the front of the radiator, and a mudguard is attached to the front of the radiator. Even if the oak is located and becomes an obstruction to the running wind, the running wind is guided to the radiator by the side plate, ensuring a sufficient amount of air hitting the radiator, improving cooling performance and preventing the radiator from becoming too large. It becomes possible to achieve a smaller size.
