従来より、リニア走査方式の超音波診断装置に
用いる超音波プローブは、第1図に示すように直
方体状に形成されたプラスチツクケース1の底面
に設けた開口端に、平面状に配列してなるアレイ
振動子2を取付けると共に、アレイ振動子と装置
本体とで遣取りする信号を伝送するためのケーブ
ル3の取出口4を第1図のイ,ロ,ハに示すよう
にアレイ振動子の配列方向とは直角又は平行な方
向に取付けている。しかし、このプローブ上部を
手で握り操作する場合、第1図のイ及びロに示す
ような上方取出し型のケーブル取付態様ではケー
ブルが邪魔になり、一方第1図のハに示すような
横取出し型のものでは握り操作性は良くなるもの
の、ベツドに仰臥した患者の身体側面の診断には
ケーブルがベツド等に接触し操作性が悪くなると
いう難点がある。

ル取出口4をケース1の側面に取付け、しかも取
付口軸方向がアレイ振動子2の面に対し仰角θで
取付けられている。θとしては鋭角である。ま
た、取出口4の取付位置は側面に限らず、側面と
上面との角の部分であつてもよい。
