Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of an erroneous rearrangement, and also, to execute the navigation with higher accuracy by providing plural levels on the reference of the rearrangement and always executing the rearrangement corresponding to necessity. CONSTITUTION:A detecting means 1 supplies a detected data of a vehicle position to a CPU 2, and a storage means 3 contains a data of a road map for making a vehicle runnable and supplies the data to the CPU 2. In this state, the CPU 2 sends a signal to a display device 4, and executes a display in which the present place of the vehicle has been indicated on a prescribed road map. In this case, a setting means 5 is a means for setting a level '1' for executing a rearrangement and a level '0' for executing no rearrangement, and when the detected data has been detached from the runnable range of a map data, a processing for rearranging its detected data within the runnable range. Therefore, at the time point when the vehicle has entered a parking place, a user switches the means 5 to the level '0', and prevents an erroneous rearrangement. Also, by providing plural levels corresponding to a distance for executing the rearrangement, the navigation can be executed with higher accuracy.

The present invention relates to an in-vehicle navigator device, and by providing a plurality of levels as a reference when relocating a detected vehicle position on a map, the occurrence of erroneous relocation can be prevented and navigation can be performed with higher precision. It is intended to do so.

So-called in-vehicle navigation devices detect absolute positions by receiving radio signals from artificial satellites, or detect relative positions by setting a reference point and integrating the vehicle's heading, distance traveled, etc. A vehicle position detecting means such as a sensor is provided, and the detected vehicle position is displayed on a display device.

However, it cannot be said that the above-mentioned vehicle position detection means necessarily perform detection with sufficient accuracy in any of the methods. Therefore, it has been proposed that the vehicle position detected in the past is placed on a map stored in a storage means, and when this position is out of the range where the vehicle can drive, it is relocated within the possible range (map matching) (Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. Showa 58-1
29313, etc.).

However, when relocating as described above, if you do this all the time, for example, when a vehicle enters a parking lot that is not within the drivable range on the map, the vehicle position will be changed to the nearest road. There is a risk that the vehicle will be forcibly rearranged, which may cause the subsequent travel route etc. to be significantly deviated.

Furthermore, if relocation is performed at a uniform standard level while driving on a special road such as an expressway, detection errors may occur and the relocation may end up on a general road that is not supposed to be directly accessible from that road. This poses a problem in that there is a risk that the subsequent travel route will be significantly deviated.

The present invention comprises a means (11) for detecting the position of a vehicle on which it is mounted based on information, and a storage means (3) storing data of a map on which the vehicle can travel, and the position of the vehicle is detected by the detecting means. When rearranging (CPU (21)) the above-mentioned vehicle position on the map of the storage means, a means (5) for providing a plurality of levels as a reference for the rearrangement and arbitrarily setting this level;

In other words, regarding the above-mentioned problems such as parking lots, for example, by providing a level 1 in which relocation is performed and a level 0 in which relocation is not performed, the user can set the setting means (5 ), it is possible to switch to level O, thereby making it possible to prevent erroneous relocation from being performed later due to forced relocation. Note that the level switching may be performed automatically based on the speed, trajectory, etc. of the vehicle.

Furthermore, if the map data is a multi-layered database as shown in Figure 2 (A is for expressways and above, B is for major arterial routes, and C is for all drivable ranges), the level is set according to the layer. It is also possible to switch between the two.
