Abstract

PURPOSE: To allow the selection machine to identify authenticity and denomination of paper sheets by storing a reference pattern to a memory circuit and using a detection means to detect a pattern of a measured object. CONSTITUTION: When a paper sheet 21 passes through a pass line 22 while a memory circuit 33 connecting to a CPU 32 interlockingly is cleared, the information as to a pattern of the paper sheet such as characters, codes and graphics is set and stored in the memory circuit 33 as a reference pattern and this pattern is being stored till it is newly cleared afterward. As a result of comparison between the reference pattern and a measured object by the CPU 32, when the identity is discriminated, a control signal is outputted to a selection carrying mechanism, by which the paper sheet is selected and carried up to a stack position. The paper sheets whose identity in the denomination is not discriminated are returned to, e.g. an insert port or carried to other stack position by the selection carrying mechanism.

(Prior art) A light emitting device emits light to a paper sheet, which is an object to be measured, which is sequentially conveyed through a path line 2 located between a light emitting element and a light receiving element that receive reflected light, which are arranged facing each other. By emitting a measuring light beam from the element and receiving the transmitted light and reflected light that pass through the object to be measured with the light receiving element, the surface and interior of the paper sheet can be measured based on the amount of transmitted light and reflected light of the paper sheet. 2. Description of the Related Art Optical character reading devices, optical code reading devices, optical pattern identification devices, etc., which identify patterns of formed characters, figures, codes, etc., are conventionally well known. These reading or weaving devices can process quickly and accurately without contacting the object to be measured, so they can check the authenticity and type of banknotes, cash certificates, gift certificates, various tickets, checks, bills, etc. It is widely used in pattern identification devices that identify images based on printed patterns, as well as various other identification devices.

In this type of device, by optically manipulating the object to be measured such as paper sheets, the amount of light transmitted and Changes in the intensity of the amount of reflected light are detected, and this detection signal is extracted as an analog electrical signal proportional to the intensity of the light using a photoelectric converter. For example, this analog electrical signal is converted into a binary signal corresponding to the background area and character code area of the paper sheet, and is expressed as a reading pattern using binary logic, and this is compared with a predetermined reference pattern to determine whether the character code is good or not. The system determines whether the banknotes are genuine or fake.

The light receiving elements r-3a, 3b, etc. output to the amplifier circuit 4 which performs waveform shaping based on changes in the intensity of the amount of transmitted light and the amount of reflected light, and the amplified signal is converted to Δ/I):] by the inverter 5.
/[) and is input to the CPtJ (central processing circuit) 6. In the reference value selection circuit 7, base l values related to patterns of predetermined types of paper sheets are set and held, and from among these values, the reference value of the target paper sheet is selected. . The reference value selection circuit 7 manually inputs a signal to the CPU 6 indicating a reference pattern for the paper sheet to be identified. Then, by comparing the actual pattern of the paper sheet 1 as the object to be measured input via the A/D converter 4 with the reference value, the type and authenticity of the paper sheet are identified.

However, the conventional measuring circuit described above has the disadvantage that the types of paper sheets that can be identified are limited to those that are set and held in the reference value selection circuit 7 in advance. As a practical matter, with the exception of limited types of banknotes, it is impossible to set standard values for all patterns, assuming all of the countless new types of paper sheets with different patterns that will be issued. be. In particular, many types of gift certificates, cash certificates, tickets, checks, etc. are issued in arbitrary patterns, so if the range of selection is narrowly limited,
The scope of application of a device that selects a desired paper sheet from among a large number of paper sheets is extremely limited.

As a result of the comparison between the reference pattern and the object to be measured in the CPU 32, if it is determined that they are identical, a control signal is output to a sorting and conveying mechanism (not shown), and the paper sheets are sorted and conveyed to the stacking position. transport. Paper sheets for which the sameness of type has not been determined are returned to the insertion slot, for example, or are transported to another stacking position by a sorting transport mechanism.

(Effects of the Invention) As described above, in the sorting device equipped with the paper sheet pattern detection circuit of the present invention, the pattern detection circuit detects the paper sheets as the object of ff1ll determination in the state where the memory circuit is cleared. By detecting the pattern, the measurement circuit learns the reference measurement value, and from then on, the newly measured object is compared with the reference pattern to identify and judge authenticity, sameness of type, etc. As a result, it is possible to easily and quickly perform sorting work on all types of paper sheets. In particular, unlike conventional examples using reference pattern selection circuits, this method does not have the disadvantage of being able to measure only a limited number of preset types of paper sheets, and has wide versatility.
