Description
The present invention relates to an image processing device, an image processing method, and a control program for processing image data to be displayed on an image display device.
そして、デジタル化された画像データは、CRT(Cathode-Ray Tube)やLCD(Liquid Crystal Display)等の表示デバイスで表示されている。 In recent years, medical images, such as radiological images taken of patients at medical institutions, have been increasingly digitized. Digitized image data is now displayed on display devices such as CRTs (Cathode-Ray Tubes) and LCDs (Liquid Crystal Displays). Image data is also now sometimes displayed on multiple display devices connected via a communication network.
However, when displaying medical images on multiple display devices, the gradation characteristics of each display device are different, so even for the same medical image, the gradation of the displayed image may differ. For diagnosing a patient, it is undesirable for a medical image to have different gradations displayed depending on the display device. When displaying the same image of the same patient, it is desirable for it to be displayed with the same gradation regardless of the display device.
DICOM(Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine)により、医用画像のフォーマットおよび画像データの通信プロトコルが定義されている。 Display devices for medical images are classified into three management grades according to maximum luminance (cd/ m2 ), luminance ratio, and contrast response, and the international standard DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) defines the format of medical images and the communication protocol for image data. Medical images are communicated and displayed based on these.
DICOM also specifies the Grayscale Standard Display Function (GSDF), which is a function that uses the Just Noticeable Difference (JND), which is defined by the smallest luminance difference that humans can distinguish. By correcting the gradation characteristics of a display device to match the GSDF, it is possible to achieve ergonomically smooth and accurate grayscale display on all display devices.
However, the above-mentioned conventional technologies have the following problems. In both
The present invention has been made in consideration of the above problems, and its purpose is to realize an image processing device or the like that can output image data that has desired gradation characteristics in correspondence with the actual gradation characteristics of a display device.
In order to solve the above problem, an image processing device according to one aspect of the present invention is an image processing device that converts the gradation characteristics of input image data and outputs the converted gradation characteristics to a display device, and includes a gradation characteristic changing unit that changes the gradation characteristics of the image data to desired gradation characteristics using the maximum luminance and minimum luminance of the display device, a difference reflection unit that derives the difference between the gradation characteristics after the gradation characteristics are changed by the gradation characteristic changing unit and the theoretical value of the desired gradation characteristics, and reflects the derived difference in the gradation characteristics of the input image data, a gamma conversion unit that performs gamma conversion according to the gradation characteristics of the display device on the gradation characteristics in which the difference is reflected by the difference reflection unit, and an output unit that outputs image data with the gradation characteristics gamma converted by the gamma conversion unit to the display device.
In order to solve the above problem, an image processing method according to one aspect of the present invention is an image processing method for converting the gradation characteristics of input image data and outputting the converted gradation characteristics to a display device, and includes a gradation characteristic changing step for changing the gradation characteristics of the image data to desired gradation characteristics using the maximum luminance and minimum luminance of the display device, a difference reflecting step for deriving the difference between the changed gradation characteristics after the gradation characteristic change in the gradation characteristic changing step and the theoretical value of the desired gradation characteristic, and reflecting the derived difference in the gradation characteristics of the input image data, a gamma conversion step for performing gamma conversion according to the gradation characteristics of the display device on the gradation characteristics in which the difference is reflected in the difference reflecting step, and an output step for outputting image data with the gradation characteristics gamma converted in the gamma conversion step to the display device.
According to one aspect of the present invention, even if the gradation characteristics of image data differ from the gradation characteristics of a display device, the image data can be displayed on the display device with the gradation characteristics of the image data. In addition, even if the gradation characteristics of the display device deviate from what they should be, the image data can be displayed with the gradation characteristics of the image data.
[Embodiment 1]
[Display device as premise]
First, a display device on which the present invention is based will be described with reference to FIGS.
2.4、DICOM(Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine)規格のGSDF(Grayscale Standard Display Function)、階調特性Xの例を挙げている。 なお、表示装置としては、LCD(Liquid Crystal Display)、有機EL(Electro Luminescence)等が挙げられる。 Normally, in display devices such as televisions, information display devices, PC monitors, and projectors, gradation correction is performed according to the product specifications. Figure 23 shows an example of gradation correction. Figure 23 gives examples of gamma 2.2, gamma 2.4, GSDF (Grayscale Standard Display Function) of the DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) standard, and gradation characteristic X. Figure 24 is a diagram showing an example of the relationship between gradation and luminance when viewed through a display device. In Figure 24, luminance is expressed by a single color from white to black. Examples of display devices include LCDs (Liquid Crystal Displays) and organic EL (Electro Luminescence).
Figure 22 shows an example in which the display device is an LCD. As shown in Figure 22, in the case of an LCD, the display device includes a main control module, a timing controller, a source driver, a gate driver, and a display device.
Then, at the timing instructed by the timing controller, the source driver and gate driver control the horizontal pixels and vertical lines of pixels of the display device, thereby displaying the display data processed by the main control module on the display device.
When creating the correction table described in the above-mentioned
When creating the correction table described in
If the gradation characteristics of the display device are gamma 2.2, the image data created by the main control module will be created so that the gradation characteristics correspond to gamma 2.2. Also, if the gradation characteristics of the display device are compliant with the GSDF of the DICOM standard, the image data created by the main control module will be created so that the gradation characteristics correspond to the GSDF of the DICOM standard.
[Configuration of the display device]
The configuration of a
Here, we will explain the case where an image with gradation characteristics conforming to the GSDF of the DICOM standard is displayed on the
As shown in FIG. 1, the
Next, the
[Display Device Evaluation Process]
Before describing the processing by the
As shown in FIG. 3, a
(S106)。 As a specific process flow, as shown in FIG. 4, after the luminance meter is installed (S101), the transmission of digital data (image data) begins (S102). First, digital data X with the minimum gradation is transmitted (S103), and the luminance value at that time is obtained and recorded (S104). Then, the gradation value is incremented by the set step α (S107), and the process returns to step S103, where digital data X is transmitted and the luminance value at that time is obtained. This process is repeated until the gradation value is maximized, and if the transmitted digital data is at the maximum gradation (YES in S105), the transmission of the digital data ends (S106).
The step α added to the gradation of the digital data may be a value that can resolve the resolution, for example, 1 when the resolution is 8 bits. This allows measurements to be made from 0 to 255 in 1 step increments. Note that the DICOM standard uses 18 patterns (e.g. LN8-01 to LN8-18) from 0 to 255 in 15 steps, so the step α is 15. However, when setting the
It is also possible to measure and record not only the luminance (Lv) but also the chromaticity coordinates (Lx, Ly). By measuring the chromaticity coordinates, if color fringing occurs on a display device capable of displaying color, the chromaticity coordinates can be used to determine the color fringing.
Referring again to Figure 2, the
As shown in FIG. 2, the
The coloring correction
Next, the coloring determination process will be described in detail with reference to Figs. 5 to 7. Fig. 5 is a flowchart showing the flow of the coloring determination process, and Figs. 6 and 7 are diagrams for explaining whether or not coloring has occurred.
When the input gradation, which is the gradation of the input image data, is 8 bits, that is, the resolution is [0-255], the luminance and chromaticity coordinates of each gradation are measured and recorded. Then, the coloring correction
Note that Fig. 6 shows an example of chromaticity when it is determined that coloring occurs, and Fig. 7 shows an example of chromaticity when it is determined that coloring does not occur. In Figs. 6 and 7, the horizontal axis shows the gradation value, and the vertical axis shows the chromaticity coordinate.
From the above, it can be said that the color correction
The display device gamma conversion
A more detailed explanation will be given with reference to Figures 8 and 9. Figure 8 is a flowchart showing the flow of processing in the display device gamma conversion
As shown in FIG. 8, the display device gamma conversion
For example, as shown in FIG. 9, if the measurement data gradation characteristic is "gradation characteristic a" and the gradation characteristic to be evaluated is "gradation characteristic X", the difference Ag in luminance value at gradation value g is the absolute value of the difference "Xg-ag" between the luminance value Xg of "gradation characteristic a" at gradation value g and the luminance value ag of "gradation characteristic a".
If the calculated difference is greater than the variable S (YES in S205), the difference is substituted for the variable S (S206); if not (NO in S205), the process proceeds directly to step S207. Then, the processes from step S203 to step S206 are repeated until the maximum gradation is reached. Thus, the variable S finally becomes the maximum of the differences between the luminance value at each gradation in the measured data and the luminance value at each gradation in the gradation characteristic to be evaluated.
Then, the processes from step S201 to step S207 are performed for all tone characteristics to be evaluated (S208). That is, if there are seven tone characteristics to be evaluated, namely gamma 2.2, gamma 2.4, tone characteristics conforming to GSDF of the DICOM standard, tone characteristics A, tone characteristics B, tone characteristics C, and tone characteristics X, the processes from step S201 to step S207 are performed for all of them.
Then, the display device gamma conversion

Figure 10 is a flowchart showing the processing flow in the display device correction
First, the display device correction
Next, the gamma change
A=71.498068、B=94.593053、C=41.912053、D=9.8247004、E=0.28175407、F=-1.1878455、G=-0.18014349、H=0.14710899、I=- 0.017046845である。

The above formula is described in the DICOM standard and is used to calculate the JND index for a specific range of luminance values.
This calculates the maximum and minimum JND index values.
Next, the gamma change
(JND MAX - JND MIN ) / total number of JND steps x JND step (n) + JND MIN
Next, the gamma change
そして、a=-1.3011877、b=-2.5840191E-2、c=8.0242636E-2、d=-1.0320229E-1、e=1.3646699E-1、f=2.8745620E-2、g=-2.5468404E-2、h=-3.1978977E-3、k=1.2992634E-4、m=1.3635334E-3である。 where Ln is the natural logarithm, j is the index of the JND luminance level Lj (1 to 1023), a = -1.3011877, b = -2.5840191E-2, c = 8.0242636E-2, d = -1.0320229E-1, e = 1.3646699E-1, f = 2.8745620E-2, g = -2.5468404E-2, h = -3.1978977E-3, k = 1.2992634E-4, m = 1.3635334E-3.
The above formula is a formula described in the DICOM standard, and is a formula for finding luminance as a function of the JND index. This results in finding gradation characteristics that conform to the GSDF of the DICOM standard. Here, these gradation characteristics are called the GSDF of the target DICOM standard. An example of the GSDF of the target DICOM standard is shown in FIG. 12. The gamma change
On the other hand, the display device correction
Next, the display device correction
By the above, gamma change parameter B, display device correction parameter C, and display device gamma conversion parameter D are created.
Next, the processing in the display device

The display
The display device
As described above, the
As described above, the
In this way, the
As a result, once the parameters are set in the
In addition, the parameters used in the processing of each part are set for each display device, so even if there are variations in the characteristics of each display device, it is possible to respond appropriately.
In addition, the gradation characteristics of the image data displayed on the

[Embodiment 2]
Other embodiments of the present invention will be described below. For ease of explanation, the same reference numerals are given to members having the same functions as those described in the above embodiment, and the description thereof will not be repeated.
As shown in FIG. 17, this embodiment differs from

Therefore, in this embodiment, the
The multiple
A detailed explanation will be given with reference to Figures 18 to 20. Figure 18 is a flowchart showing the processing flow in the multiple
As shown in Fig. 18, when multiple image data with different gradation characteristics are input (S401), the multiple
Next, the multiple
Next, the multiple
Next, the multiple
The layout configuration can be changed at any time. In this case, memory is called according to the changed layout information.
Then, for each ID called up by the memory call process of the multiple
As a result, according to this embodiment, each display area on the
For example, as shown in FIG. 21, even if multiple image data with different gradation characteristics are input to a
In addition, image data is not limited to black and white, but can also be displayed in color.
