撹拌機、温度センサーおよびディーンスターク装置を備えた300mLスケールの4つ口フラスコ(反応容器)に、4-ヒドロキシ安息香酸91.2g(0.66モル)、1-ヘキサノール101.1g(0.99モル)および触媒としてp-トルエンスルホン酸一水和物1.8gを加え、38mL/分の窒素気流下、145℃まで昇温し、同温度で6時間反応させ、ヘキシルパラベンを含む粗組成物を得た。そこへ48%水酸化ナトリウムを加えて中和させた後、蒸留により精製し、ヘキシルパラベン(純度99.8wt%)を得た。

14×17×2.5hcmのホーローバットに供試ダニが繁殖している培地(20g)を広げ、5Lプラスチック製の密閉容器の中に置いた。容器内は、洗浄水で湿度を95~99%に調整し、約27.0℃の温度下に保存した。

A medium (20 g) in which the test mites were breeding was spread on a 14 x 17 x 2.5 hcm enamel vat and placed in a 5 L plastic airtight container. The humidity inside the container was adjusted to 95-99% with washing water, and the container was stored at a temperature of about 27.0°C.

10×10cmの黒色画用紙1.30g上にヘキシルパラベン(4-ヒドロキシ安息香酸ヘキシル)が0.026質量%となるようにアセトンで濃度を調整した各供試検体を1ml滴下処理し、10分間風乾した後、黒色画用紙を2.5cm角に切断し、試験区とした。
なお供試検体と同様に、アセトンのみを処理した区をブランクとした。

[実施例2]
三角フラスコに水86gを加え、そこへ寒天4gを100℃に加熱・撹拌しながら添加した。加熱を停止し、さらにヘキシルパラベン(4-ヒドロキシ安息香酸ヘキシル)10gを撹拌しながら加えた。撹拌を停止し、氷で冷却した0.5Lのバットに流した後、そのまま1時間冷却し、ヘキシルパラベン10質量%含有寒天を得た。

86 g of water was added to an Erlenmeyer flask, and 4 g of agar was added thereto while heating to 100° C. and stirring. Heating was stopped, and 10 g of hexylparaben (hexyl 4-hydroxybenzoate) was added with stirring. After stopping stirring and pouring into a 0.5 L vat cooled with ice, the mixture was cooled for 1 hour to obtain agar containing 10% by mass of hexylparaben.

得られたヘキシルパラベン10質量%含有寒天を縦140mm×横175mm×高さ14mmのトレイの半分に敷き詰め(処理区)、トレイの中央にエサ(キャットフード)を設置した。寒天を敷き詰めていないトレイの残りの部分(無処理区)にチャコウラナメクジ10匹を設置し、トレイを小さな穴の開いたラップで巻き、暗所に保存した。6時間および24時間後の無処理区および処理区内のナメクジの数を観測した。ブランクとして、ヘキシルパラベンを含有しない寒天を用いて同様の試験を実施した。結果を表2に示す。 The resulting agar containing 10% by mass of hexylparaben was spread over half of a tray measuring 140 mm long x 175 mm wide x 14 mm high (treatment area), and food (cat food) was placed in the center of the tray. [実施例3]
ドラフト内に蛇腹状に折ったアルミホイルを敷き、アルミホイルの上に直径55mmの定性ろ紙(ADVANTEC)を置いた。予め1.8%w/vに調整したヘキシルパラベン(4-ヒドロキシ安息香酸ヘキシル)アセトン溶液0.4mLを、ろ紙の片面全体に万遍なく滴下した(処理量10%w/w)。そのままドラフト内にて3時間、風乾した(ヘキシルパラベン処理ろ紙)。ブランク用として、同様の方法でアセトンのみを滴下し乾燥させたろ紙(ブランクろ紙)を用意した。
Termite repellent test [Example 3]
Aluminum foil folded into a bellows shape was placed in a fume hood, and a qualitative filter paper (ADVANTEC) with a diameter of 55 mm was placed on top of the aluminum foil. 0.4 mL of hexylparaben (hexyl 4-hydroxybenzoate) acetone solution adjusted to 1.8% w/v in advance was evenly dropped onto one side of the filter paper (treatment amount 10% w/w). It was air-dried for 3 hours in a fume hood (hexylparaben-treated filter paper). As a blank, filter paper (blank filter paper) was prepared by dropping only acetone and drying it in the same manner.
