Description
The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus, an image forming system, an image forming method, and a program.
2. Description of the Related Art Electrophotographic multifunction peripherals (MFPs) and laser printers (LPs) are configured so that toner bottles, which are consumables, can be replaced.
For example, when the remaining amount of toner contained in a toner bottle decreases below a certain threshold value, a message indicating that the remaining amount of toner bottle has decreased is displayed on the image forming apparatus. Therefore, the user orders a toner bottle from a sales company in preparation for replacing the toner bottle.
The image forming apparatus includes a bottle cover for preventing a toner bottle set in a storage position from shifting or falling off, and this bottle cover is locked in a closed state by a locking mechanism. After the toner is used up, the toner bottle can be replaced by releasing the locking mechanism and opening the bottle cover.
Incidentally, a toner bottle is provided with a nonvolatile memory that stores unique information such as the remaining amount of toner and a serial number, and is used for managing the toner bottle.
There is a possibility that poor contact may occur between the removable memory board on which non-volatile memory is installed and the relay section connected to it, and if data cannot be read from the non-volatile memory due to poor contact. There is also. On the other hand, when a contact failure occurs, the user may be able to easily restore the contact state by simply inserting and removing the toner bottle.
As described above, when a contact failure occurs, service costs can be reduced if the user can easily recover the contact state by inserting and removing the toner bottle in which toner remains. However, in conventional control processing, the locked state is released only when it is detected that the toner bottle is empty, so it is necessary to request a service person to perform maintenance and inspection. In other words, in the past, the bottle cover could not be unlocked and opened when toner remained, making it impossible to insert and remove the bottle cover in order to eliminate poor contact.
From this point of view, while the bottle cover is unlocked to enable removal and replacement of the toner bottle when the remaining toner runs out, it is also necessary to release the lock when a poor contact occurs with the toner bottle with toner remaining. However, there is a need for a measure to easily recover from poor contact by unlocking the bottle cover and enabling insertion/extraction operations.
However, conventionally, no image forming apparatus has been proposed in which a locking mechanism is released that allows a user to insert and remove a toner bottle with residual toner in order to recover from poor contact through a simple insertion and removal operation.
However, in

FIG. 6 is a schematic diagram showing the configuration of a toner replenishing section in an image forming apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention. The description will be made by reusing the relevant part of Japanese Patent Application Laid-open No. 2019-66514.
A toner bottle 3 filled with toner in advance is installed in the

As the toner bottle 3 rotates, toner is discharged from the inside of the toner bottle 3 and flows into the toner transport path 39.

<Plotter control unit and removable memory board>
FIG. 9A is a block diagram showing how a plotter control unit installed in an image forming apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention acquires data from a removable memory board. FIG. 9(b) is a diagram showing a memory map of the EEPROM.
The
A removable memory board attached to the toner bottle includes an EEPROM, and the EEPROM stores toner specific information.
The toner specific information is an arbitrary value such as a unique serial number, color information, and remaining amount of toner.
A unique serial number is written at the time of toner manufacturing, and the serial number will not be duplicated with other toner bottles.
The same information is also stored in the
In this embodiment, storage in the
These pieces of information are configured so that the information on the
The reason for this is that in the present invention, when driving the locking mechanism of the bottle cover to the locked state and locking the door, the locking mechanism detects whether the toner bottle is empty or not. The configuration is such that it is possible to determine whether or not the operation is possible.
However, some users may end up with multiple empty toner bottles in their possession until a service person visits to collect the toner bottles.
In this situation, if toner runs out, it is assumed that the user will go back and insert multiple toner bottles that were empty in the past into the container one by one to check whether there is toner or not. be done. This is necessary to prevent the user from wasting waiting time during such confirmation work.
Note that the number of serial numbers of empty toner bottles stored in the
They may be designed taking into account how they will be used by actual users, free memory capacity, etc., but the present invention is applicable to any number of memories.
The reason for using the serial number is that the history of when the
Furthermore, even if the toner bottle is manufactured in-house, there is a concern that the information held in the EEPROM may be erroneously written due to noise received from the environment during communication, resulting in malfunction.
Therefore, by arranging the serial number in a non-writable area on the memory and confirming that it matches a multi-digit numerical value, it is possible to improve noise resistance and improve the certainty of matching.
Regarding the number of digits in the serial number, it is preferable to have multiple digits in order to prevent coincidences. The number of digits to be adopted is a part of the design, and in any case the original The invention shall be applicable.
