Description
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様の表示装置の構成例、及び応用例について、図面を参照して説明する。
図1(A)は、本発明の一態様の表示装置に含まれる表示パネル100の上面概略図である。
本実施の形態では、車両の内部に上記実施の形態で説明した表示装置を配置する応用例の一例を以下に示す。
実施の形態1に示した図1(B)では、3つの表示パネルに全て同じ表示パネル100を用いた場合を示したが、本実施の形態では一部異なる表示パネルを用いる例を図3に示す。なお、一部異なるのみであり、図3において図1と同じ箇所には同じ符号を用いて説明する。
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様の図1(A)に示す表示パネルの作製方法について図5を用いて説明する。
図7(A)、(B)に、表示パネル370の上面図を示す。
図9(A)及び図9(B)に、塗り分け方式が適用されたトップエミッション構造の表示パネル370A、370Bの断面図を示す。図9(A)はカラーフィルタを有している。不要であれば、図9(B)に示すようにカラーフィルタなしの構成としてもよい。これらの場合、各色の発光素子の発光層はそれぞれ分離していることが好ましい。本発明の一態様の表示装置は、複数の表示パネルを用いて形成されるため、1つの表示パネルの大きさは比較的小さくすることができる。そのため、メタルマスクの合わせ精度を高めることができ、塗り分けの歩留まりを高めることができる。このことから、塗り分け方式の発光素子を採用する点で有利であるといえる。

- 第1の表示パネルと、第2の表示パネルと、第3の表示パネルとを有し、
前記第1の表示パネルは、可視光を透過する機能を有する第1の領域と、表示を行う機能を有する第2の領域とを有し、
前記第2の表示パネルは、可視光を透過する機能を有する第3の領域と、表示を行う機能を有する第4の領域とを有し、
前記第3の表示パネルは、可視光を透過する機能を有する第5の領域と、表示を行う機能を有する第6の領域とを有し、
前記第1の領域と、前記第4の領域とは、互いに重なる第1の部分を有し、
前記第5の領域と、前記第2の領域とは、互いに重なる第2の部分を有し、
前記第5の領域と、前記第4の領域とは、互いに重なる第3の部分を有し、
前記第2の領域、前記第4の領域、及び前記第6の領域で構成される表示領域は、T字形状を有し、
前記第2の領域及び前記第4の領域を前記第6の領域の上側に配置して表示し、
前記第3の表示パネルの端子が設けられている領域は、前記第2の部分及び前記第3の部分の両方に重畳するように配置されている、表示装置。
