Description
The present invention relates to a weed germination prevention structure, a method for installing the same, and a weed germination prevention sheet.
As part of road maintenance work, weeding is carried out to remove weeds that grow at the boundaries (joints) between the paved surfaces of roads and sidewalks and the concrete blocks of curbs and median strips. If weeding is neglected, it may obstruct the driver's view, and during rainy weather, it may also prevent water from draining quickly into roadside drainage ditches. Since these can cause traffic accidents, weeding work is indispensable, but there is a problem in that it is costly.
In order to solve the above problem,

According to the weed germination prevention structure of the present invention, if at least a portion of the retention area is filled with a base treatment material and is further covered with a sheet made of curable silicone (weed germination prevention sheet), it becomes difficult for dirt to accumulate in the retention area. , the environment becomes unsuitable for weed germination, and weed germination can be prevented. The surface treatment material can almost completely follow the surface even if it is installed on a rough surface. Further, the base treatment material can fill in the rough surface and form a relatively smooth surface. Furthermore, the weed germination prevention sheet placed so as to cover the base treatment material has excellent adhesion to the base treatment material, which is also made of curable silicone. As a result, the weed germination prevention structure of the present invention is sufficiently fixed to the retention area.
In addition, if the weed germination prevention structure of the present invention is provided with a base treatment material and sheet made of curable silicone with excellent weather resistance, they will have sufficient thickness and will have good adhesion to the installation surface. It is stable and highly resistant to changes in temperature and humidity, so it can exhibit excellent weather resistance.
According to the method for installing a weed germination prevention structure of the present invention, a weed germination prevention structure that exhibits the above-mentioned excellent effects can be easily formed.
《Weed germination prevention structure》
A first aspect of the present invention is a weed germination prevention structure installed in a retention area at the boundary between the paved surface of a road and other structures.
The weed germination prevention structure of this embodiment is at least one selected from a primer layer, a base treatment material made of curable silicone, and a sheet made of curable silicone.

The asphalt and concrete surfaces constituting the retention areas A and B and their surroundings are clean surfaces from which dirt and the like have been removed in advance, and these surfaces are coated with a

The preferred thickness of the primer layer illustrated herein is greater than the thickness of the primer layer used in typical adhesive applications. [

Here, the William plasticity is a value measured and calculated according to JIS K 6249:1997, "Testing method for uncured and cured silicone rubber." That is, prepare a roughly spherical test piece of 2 g of silicone rubber that cures at 25°C, sandwich this test piece between cellophane paper, and use a parallel plate plasticity meter with a dial gauge ("William Plus and Meter" manufactured by Ueshima Seisakusho). After setting the test piece in the test piece, applying a load of 5 kg and leaving it for 3 minutes, read the scale of the dial gauge in millimeters, record the thickness of the test piece, and multiply this value by 100.

In addition, in the above explanation, the case where the "retention part" is a groove or a depression is illustrated, but the "retention part" of the present invention is not limited to this example, and includes steps, gaps, and joints of several millimeters to several centimeters. etc. may be used.
《How to install a weed germination prevention structure》
A second aspect of the present invention is a method of installing the weed germination prevention structure of the first aspect in a retention area at the boundary between the paved surface of a road and other structures, and which includes at least the following steps A to D. has.
[工程A]
[Process A]
Step A is a step of cleaning the asphalt surface, concrete surface, or mortar surface constituting the retention part and its surroundings. Figure 4 shows the appearance of the retention areas A and B before cleaning. Since no weed germination prevention structure is installed, weeds G germinate and grow from retention areas A and B located at the boundaries between the
[Process B]
Step B is a step in which a

After applying the primer, it is preferable to wait for it to dry naturally.
The curable silicone member installed after this step can be bonded to curved or bent areas while completely following the shape of the area. Therefore, there is no problem even if the area to which the primer is applied in this step is curved or bent. On the other hand, when applying the weed suppression tape proposed in
Note that the expression that the area to which the primer is applied in this step is curved or bent means that the area is curved or bent when the
[Process C]
Step C is a step of forming a
Suitable uncured silicone pastes are described above. When using condensation-curing silicone, apply the paste extruded from the cartridge to the retention areas A and B, and apply it lightly with a spatula, etc., to coat the retention areas A and B and the rough surfaces around them. The paste can be sufficiently filled.
After that, you may wait until the

《Weed germination prevention sheet》
A third aspect of the present invention is a sheet made of uncured curable silicone, which is used to cover at least a portion of the base treatment material and the primer layer in the method for installing a weed germination prevention structure according to the second aspect. This is a weed germination prevention sheet. Although the sheet itself is the same as a conventional uncured silicone sheet, its use is new and different from conventional ones.
[Example 1]
On the premises of Shin-Etsu Polymer Co., Ltd.'s Tokyo factory, there are areas where dust has accumulated and weeds have grown in the depressions between the asphalt-paved road surface and the concrete curb stones installed along this road surface. I found one (about 40cm long).
The weeds were pulled out, soil and sand were removed with a broom, and the depression at the boundary and the surface around it were cleaned. A primer agent (manufactured by Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd., Primer MT) was applied thereto to a thickness of about 200 g/m 2 and allowed to dry naturally to form a primer layer (thickness of about 0.2 mm).
Next, a commercially available paste made of uncured condensation-curing silicone was applied to a thickness of about 5 mm or more around the depression, and the surface was leveled with a sponge spatula. As a result, a base treatment material was formed that filled the depressions and the surrounding asphalt surface irregularities.
Next, a sheet made of uncured condensation-curing silicone (Polymer Ace PA, manufactured by Shin-Etsu Polymer Co., Ltd.) was attached to cover the base treatment material and a part of the primer layer formed over a wider area, and the sheet was placed on the installation surface. I pressed it against it so that it would blend in.
By the above method, a weed germination prevention structure similar to the weed
When the weed germination prevention structure installed above was observed for 6 months, no changes occurred and it remained stable despite being exposed to wind and rain and receiving direct sunlight.
[Example 2]
Example 1 was carried out in the same manner as in Example 1, except that several grams of carbon black was added as a light shielding material to a paste made of uncured condensation-curing silicone, and the mixture was thoroughly mixed to form a black paste before use. A structure to prevent weed germination was installed. The total light transmittance of this
[Comparative example 1]
A commercially available transparent adhesive tape having an acrylic resin adhesive layer was attached near the weed germination prevention structure of Example 1. That is, after cleaning the weed-grown depressions at the boundary between the asphalt surface and the curb and removing dirt and sand, transparent adhesive tape (approximately 5 cm wide and 30 cm long) was attached to this surface. . However, the surface to which it was attached was rough, and the area that was substantially adhered to was small.
When the transparent adhesive tape installed above was observed, it was clear that the longer it was exposed to wind and rain and exposed to direct sunlight, the more easily it deteriorated, and it peeled off by the end of two weeks.
