Description
Claims (18)
- 装置であって、
上面を含む第1の光ガイドタイルを有し、
前記上面は、略平坦な部分と前記略平坦な部分に隣接する湾曲周辺部分とを含み、
前記湾曲周辺部分を断面で見たときに、 前記湾曲周辺部分は外向きバルジを含み、
前記外向きバルジの一部分は、前記一部分の両端部の間の第1の位置において、前記略平坦な部分と直角であり、
前記湾曲周辺部分は、前記外向きバルジに隣接する内向きの浅い曲線をさらに含むように形成され、
前記装置は、
前記第1の光ガイドタイルに隣接して配置される第2の光ガイドタイルであって、前記第1の光ガイドタイルの外向きバルジに面する第2の外向きバルジを含むように成形される、第2の光ガイドタイルをさらに有する、
装置。 - 前記第1の光ガイドタイルは、前記上面の前記湾曲周辺部分に隣接し、前記内向きの浅い曲線と隣接する光学的結合面をさらに含む、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記光学的結合面は、前記上面の前記略平坦な部分に対して略平行である、請求項2に記載の装置。
- 前記第1の光ガイドタイルは、前記上面に対向する底面をさらに含み、前記底面は、前記上面の前記略平坦な部分に略平行である第2の略平坦な部分を含む、請求項2に記載の装置。
- 前記上面は、光学的結合面に隣接する第2の湾曲周辺部分をさらに含む、請求項4に記載の装置。
- 前記第2の湾曲周辺部分は、前記断面で見ると、前記第2の略平坦な部分と前記光学的結合面との間に第2の内向きの浅い曲線を含む、請求項5に記載の装置。
- 前記光学的結合面を通して実質的に前記第1の光ガイドタイル内に光を向けるように配置された第1の発光ダイオードをさらに有し、前記上面の湾曲周辺部分は、
前記光の少なくとも一部を全反射により反射し、
反射した部分を前記上面の前記略平坦な部分に向ける、
請求項2に記載の装置。 - 前記第1の光ガイドタイルの前記上面の前記略平坦な部分は、前記略平坦な部分内の前記光の少なくとも一部が前記略平坦な部分を通って前記第1の光ガイドタイルを出ることを可能にするように構成される、請求項7に記載の装置。
- 前記第2の光ガイドタイルは、上面と、前記上面と反対側の底面とを含み、
前記上面は、前記第1の光ガイドタイルの前記上面の略平坦な部分に略平行である第2の略平坦な部分を含み、
前記上面は、前記第2の略平坦な部分に隣接する第2の湾曲周辺部分をさらに含み、
前記第2の湾曲周辺部分を第2の断面で見たとき、
前記第2の湾曲周辺部分は第2の外向きバルジを含み、
前記第2の外向きバルジの一部分は、前記第2の外向きバルジの一部分の両端部の間の第2の位置において、前記略平坦な部分に直角であるように形成される、
請求項1記載の装置。 - 前記第2の外向きバルジの一部分の第2の位置は、前記外向きバルジの一部分の位置に面する、請求項9に記載の装置。
- 前記第2の外向きバルジの一部分の第2の位置は、前記第2の外向きバルジの一部分の第2の位置と前記外向きバルジの一部分の位置との間に光カプラを伴わずに、前記外向きバルジの一部分の位置に隣接している、請求項9に記載の装置。
- 前記第2の外向きバルジの一部分の第2の位置は、前記外向きバルジの一部分の位置に互いに嵌合する、請求項9に記載の装置。
- 前記第1の光ガイドタイルの湾曲周辺部分の前記外向きバルジと、前記第2の光ガイドタイルの湾曲周辺部分の外向きバルジとの間に配置されるフレームをさらに有し、前記フレームは、前記第1の光ガイドタイルの湾曲周辺部分の外向きバルジと、前記第2の光ガイドタイルの湾曲周辺部分の外向きバルジとにそれぞれ面する、対向する嵌合面を有する、請求項9に記載の装置。
- 前記湾曲周辺部分は、前記断面に実質的に直交する方向に沿って、前記第2の湾曲周辺部分に略平行に延在する、請求項9に記載の装置。
- 前記湾曲周辺部分及び前記第2の湾曲周辺部分は、互いに略平行であるそれぞれの線に沿って延在する、請求項9に記載の装置。
- 前記第1の光ガイドタイル及び前記第2の光ガイドタイルは略矩形形状である、請求項9に記載の装置。
- 方法であって、
発光ダイオードからの光を略平坦な光ガイドタイルのエッジに向けるステップであって、前記光ガイドタイルは上面を含み、前記上面は、略平坦な部分と、前記略平坦な部分に隣接する湾曲周辺部分とを含み、前記湾曲周辺部分を断面で見たときに、
前記湾曲周辺部分は外向きバルジを有し、
前記外向きバルジは、前記外向きバルジが前記略平坦な部分に直交する位置まで延在し、
前記外向きバルジは、前記外向きバルジが前記略平坦な部分に直交する位置を越えて凸状に延在し、
前記湾曲周辺部分は、前記外向きバルジに隣接する内向きの浅い曲線をさらに含むように形成される、ステップと、
前記上面の湾曲周辺部分からの全内部反射により、前記光ガイドタイルのエッジから前記光ガイドタイルの内部に向かって前記光の少なくとも一部を反射するステップと、
フレームで前記略平坦な光ガイドタイルを支持するステップであって、前記フレームは、前記外向きバルジに隣接して配置され、前記外向きバルジに面する嵌合面を有するステップ、
を含む方法。 - 前記光ガイドタイルの前記上面の前記略平坦な部分を通って前記光ガイドタイルを出るように前記光の少なくとも一部を向けるステップをさらに含む、請求項17に記載の方法。
