以上のポリマーに、前記1つ以上のポリマーによって基材に付与される主な特性を変えることなく組み込むことができることもさらに理解される。
使用した試験方法は、HP(登録商標)デジタルIndigo(商標)印刷画像の、Indigo印刷機用の紙の適格性についてHPによって定義された基材への付着力を決定する標準方法であった。より具体的には、100%黒色液体トナーの黒色長方形画像を、HP(登録商標)Indigo 5500印刷機を使用し、4連写モードで、標準温度設定を使用して印刷し、試験パターンを提供した。黒色長方形の画像も同じ印刷機及び設定を使用して印刷されたが、黒色液体トナーは、52部の黄色、66部のマゼンタ、72部のシアン、及び100部の黒色トナーで構成されており、これは一般に290%の写真画像と呼称される。後者の試験は通常、より厳しい試験である。
灰分含有量が19%、Hercules Sizing試験(HST)によるサイジングレベルが8秒であり、且つスルホン化蛍光増白剤を含む市販の112g/m2のアルカリオフセット印刷用紙を、HP 5500 Indigo印刷機による画像の付着力について試験した(試験はロチェスター工科大学で行った)。試料はさらに、500,000ダルトンの平均分子量のポリ-2-エチル-2オキサゾリン(PEtOx)の溶液を用い、乾燥ベースのポリマー処理量を紙の質量の0.3%及び0.6%として処理した。処理は15%溶液として適用され、ドラム乾燥機で乾燥させた。100%の黒色印刷と参照紙の粘着率は84%であった。0.3%のPEtOxの塗布により、付着力は91%に改善され、0.6%の処理では付着力は92%であった。したがって、PEtOxの添加により付着力が向上する。他のポリマーもレオロジー調整剤も、PEtOxと共に添加しなかった。
Claims (6)
- 基材の少なくとも1つの表面への画像の付着力を向上させる方法であって、
1つ以上のポリマーを含む組成物を表面の一部に適用することにより、表面の少なくとも一部を処理する工程であって、前記1つ以上のポリマーが、ビニルピロリドン、オキサゾリン含有モノマー、N-ビニルピペリジノン、N-ビニルカプロラクタム、及びこれらの組み合わせの群から選択されるモノマーから生成される、工程;
組成物を基材に適用した後にこの組成物を乾燥させて、処理された基材を形成する工程;及び
画像を、電子写真印刷機で液体トナー技術を利用して、処理された基材上に印刷する工程;
を含む、方法。 - 前記1つ以上のポリマーが、2-エチル-2-オキサゾリン及び/またはメチルオキサゾリンから生成され、前記組成物が、前記1つ以上のポリマーを、当該組成物の乾燥質量に基づく少なくとも約50%の量で含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 1つ以上のポリマーの各々が、第三級アミド基を含む少なくとも1つの反復単位を含み、(i)第三級アミド基の窒素原子に結合した炭素原子の少なくとも1つは、これに結合した2つまたは3つの水素原子を有し、(ii)第三級アミド基の窒素は、-CH、-CH2、または-CH3基に結合したカルボニル基に結合している、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記1つ以上のポリマーが、2-エチル-2-オキサゾリンから生成されたホモポリマーである、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記1つ以上のポリマーが、ポリ(2-メチルオキサゾリン)である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 印刷受容コーティングを含む表面処理された基材であって、前記印刷受容コーティングが基材の少なくとも片側の少なくとも一部にコーティングされ、前記印刷受容コーティングは1つ以上のポリマーを含む基材であって、前記1つ以上のポリマーが、ビニルピロリドン、オキサゾリン含有モノマー、N-ビニルピペリジノン、N-ビニルカプロラクタム、及びこれらの組み合わせの群から選択されるモノマーから生成される、基材;及び
前記印刷受容コーティングの少なくとも一部の上の画像であって、前記画像は印刷受容コーティングに電子写真印刷機で液体トナー技術を利用して印刷された画像;
を含む印刷物。
