Description
図1は、本発明の一実施の形態に係る光吸収デバイス100の構成を示す断面模式図である。図1に示されるように、光吸収デバイス100は、支持基板110、光反射層120、誘電体層130、および複数の金属ナノ構造体140を有する。以下、各構成要素について説明する。
本実施の形態に係る光吸収デバイス100の製造方法は、特に限定されない。たとえば、以下の手順により、光吸収デバイス100を製造することができる(図2A~D参照)。
以上のように、本実施の形態に係る光吸収デバイス100では、複数の金属ナノ構造体140を部分的に誘電体層130に埋め込むことで、ファブリ・ペロー共振器とプラズモンとの強結合を誘起し、分裂したスペクトルから幅広い波長に応答する光捕集構造を実現している。また、本実施の形態に係る光吸収デバイス100では、従来の光吸収デバイスのようにイメージ双極子相互作用を利用しないため、誘電体層の厚みにも特段の制限がない。したがって、本実施の形態に係る光吸収デバイス100は、構造上の制約が少なく、幅広い波長範囲において光を効率的に捕集することができる。
1.光吸収デバイスの作製
支持基板としてのガラス板上に、スパッタリングにより厚み100nmの金薄膜(光反射層)を形成した。金薄膜を形成したガラス板を、2-メルカプトエタノールのエタノール溶液(50mg/mL)に24時間浸漬して、金薄膜の表面にヒドロキシル基を付加する表面処理を行った。表面処理をした金薄膜の上に、原子層堆積装置を用いて所定の厚みの酸化チタン(TiO2)薄膜(第1誘電体層)を形成した。酸化チタン薄膜の上に真空蒸着により厚み3nmの金薄膜を形成し、300℃で2時間アニールすることによりこの金薄膜を粒子化して、略球形状の複数の金ナノ粒子(金属ナノ構造体)を形成した。金ナノ粒子の平均粒径は、12nmであった。最後に、再度原子層堆積装置を用いて所定の厚みの酸化チタン薄膜(第2誘電体層)を形成した。このとき、2-メルカプトエタノールを用いた表面処理を行わずに酸化チタン薄膜を形成することで、複数の金ナノ粒子の上に酸化チタン薄膜を形成させずに、複数の金ナノ粒子の間に所定の厚みの酸化チタン薄膜を形成した。これにより、実質的にすべての金ナノ粒子は、部分的に酸化チタン薄膜内に埋まった状態(部分的に外部に露出している状態)となった。なお、酸化チタン薄膜の厚み(第1誘電体層および第2誘電体層の合計厚み)は、19nm、21nm、23nm、25nm、28nm、30nm、32nm、35nm、44nm、136nm、160nm、168nm、178nm、192nmまたは211nmであった。また、金ナノ粒子の埋まっている部分の深さは、約0nm、約3.5nm、約7nmまたは約14nmであった。
作製した各光吸収デバイスについて吸収スペクトルを測定した。図5Aおよび図5Bは、酸化チタン薄膜の厚みと吸収スペクトルとの関係を示すグラフである。これらのグラフは、金ナノ粒子が酸化チタン薄膜に約7nm埋まっている光吸収デバイスについての吸収スペクトルを示している。図5Aは、酸化チタン薄膜の厚みが19~44nmの光吸収デバイスの吸収スペクトルを示している。横軸は、光の波長である。縦軸は、透過スペクトルの値(T)および反射スペクトルの値(R)から算出した吸収スペクトルの値(対数スケール)である。図5Bは、酸化チタン薄膜の厚みが136~211nmの光吸収デバイスの吸収スペクトルを示している。横軸は、光の波長である。縦軸は、透過スペクトルの値(T)および反射スペクトルの値(R)から算出した吸収スペクトルの値(実スケール)である。
作製した光吸収デバイス(光電極)を陽極とし、白金電極を陰極として、可視光水分解装置を作製した。光吸収デバイス(光電極)としては、平均粒径が約12nmの金ナノ粒子が厚み28nmの酸化チタン薄膜に約7nm埋まっている光吸収デバイス(光電極)を使用した。図10Aは、可視光水分解装置の構成を示す模式図である。電解質溶液としては、0.1mol/dm3 KOH水溶液を使用した。波長400nm以上のキセノン光(550mW/cm2)を陽極(光電極)に照射したときに、陽極で発生した酸素および陰極で発生した水素の量を測定した。
1.光吸収デバイス(光電極)の作製
支持基板としてのガラス板上に、スパッタリングにより厚み50nmの金薄膜(光反射層)を形成した後、厚み2nmのチタン薄膜を形成した。その後、原子層堆積装置を用いて厚み25nmの酸化チタン(TiO2)薄膜(第1誘電体層)を形成した。酸化チタン薄膜の上に真空蒸着により厚み3nmの金薄膜を形成し、300℃で2時間アニールすることによりこの金薄膜を粒子化して、略球形状の複数の金ナノ粒子(金属ナノ構造体)を形成した。金ナノ粒子の平均粒径は、12nmであった。その後、パルスレーザー堆積法を用いて厚み5nmの酸化ニッケル薄膜(第2誘電体層)を形成した。このとき、複数の金ナノ粒子の上に酸化ニッケル薄膜を形成させずに、複数の金ナノ粒子の間に酸化ニッケル薄膜を形成した。これにより、実質的にすべての金ナノ粒子は、部分的に酸化ニッケル薄膜内に埋まった状態(部分的に外部に露出している状態)となった。その後、パルスレーザー堆積法によって厚み39nmの酸化ニッケル膜(正孔輸送材料層)を形成した後、スパッタリングにより厚み4nmの金薄膜(陰極)を形成した。
図11Aは、作製した本発明に係る光吸収デバイス(光電極)および比較例に係る光吸収デバイス(光電極)の吸収スペクトルを示すグラフである。比較例に係る光吸収デバイスとしては、金薄膜(光反射層)を省略した比較用の第3の光吸収デバイス(図11Aにおいて「比較例1」と表記)、および複数の金ナノ粒子(金属ナノ構造体)を省略した比較用の第4の光吸収デバイス(図11Aにおいて「比較例2」と表記)を使用した。図11Aにおいて、横軸は光の波長であり、縦軸は透過スペクトルの値(T)および反射スペクトルの値(R)から算出した吸収スペクトルの値(対数スケール)である。このグラフから、作製した本発明に係る光吸収デバイス(光電極)の吸収スペクトルが、2つのピークに分裂していることがわかる。したがって、この光吸収デバイス(光電極)においても、実施例1で作製した光吸収デバイスと同様に、ファブリ・ペロー共振器とプラズモンとの間で強結合が生じることで、吸収スペクトルが2つのピークに分裂し、幅広い波長の光を捕集することができるようになったと考えられる。

支持基板として、100μmの間隔でマトリックス状に配置された複数の貫通孔を有するガラス板を用意した。各貫通孔の形状は、一辺が100μmの正方形を底面とする四角柱である。このガラス板上に、真空蒸着装置により厚み50nmの金薄膜(光反射層)を形成した。金薄膜を形成したガラス板を、2-メルカプトエタノールのエタノール溶液(50mg/mL)に24時間浸漬して、金薄膜の表面にヒドロキシル基を付加する表面処理を行った。表面処理をした金薄膜の上に、原子層堆積装置を用いて厚み28nmの酸化チタン(TiO2)薄膜(第1誘電体層)を形成した。酸化チタン薄膜の上に真空蒸着により厚み3nmの金薄膜を形成し、300℃で2時間アニールすることによりこの金薄膜を粒子化して、略球形状の複数の金ナノ粒子(金属ナノ構造体)を形成した。金ナノ粒子の平均粒径は、13nmであった。最後に、再度原子層堆積装置を用いて厚み7nmの酸化チタン薄膜(第2誘電体層)を形成した。このとき、複数の金ナノ粒子の上に酸化チタン薄膜を形成させずに、複数の金ナノ粒子の間に所定の厚みの酸化チタン薄膜を形成した。これにより、実質的にすべての金ナノ粒子は、部分的に酸化チタン薄膜内に埋まった状態(部分的に外部に露出している状態)となった。
図12Cは、作製した本発明に係る光吸収デバイスおよび比較例に係る光吸収デバイスの吸収スペクトルを示すグラフである。比較例に係る光吸収デバイスとしては、金薄膜(光反射層)を省略した比較用の第5の光吸収デバイス(図12Cにおいて「比較例1」と表記)、および複数の金ナノ粒子(金属ナノ構造体)を省略した比較用の第6の光吸収デバイス(図12Cにおいて「比較例2」と表記)を使用した。図12Cにおいて、横軸は光の波長であり、縦軸は透過スペクトルの値(T)および反射スペクトルの値(R)から算出した吸収スペクトルの値(対数スケール)である。このグラフから、作製した本発明に係る光吸収デバイスの吸収スペクトルが、2つのピークに分裂していることがわかる。したがって、この光吸収デバイスにおいても、実施例1で作製した光吸収デバイスと同様に、ファブリ・ペロー共振器とプラズモンとの間で強結合が生じることで、吸収スペクトルが2つのピークに分裂し、幅広い波長の光を捕集することができるようになったと考えられる。
1.光吸収デバイスの作製
支持基板としてのガラス板上に、スパッタリングにより厚み50nmの金薄膜(光反射層)を形成した後、厚み2nmのチタン薄膜を形成した。その後、原子層堆積装置を用いて厚み25nmの酸化チタン(TiO2)薄膜(第1誘電体層)を形成した。酸化チタン薄膜の上に電子線リソグラフィー-リフトオフ法により所定形状の厚み30nmの金ナノ構造体(金属ナノ構造体)を形成した。金ナノ構造体は、四角柱状の金ナノ粒子が底面の対角線方向に連なったチェイン構造をしているため、以下「金ナノチェイン構造体」ともいう。金ナノチェイン構造体の長辺方向(対角線方向)の長さは、0.52μm、0.75μm、1.45μmまたは2.38μmであった。図13Aは、長辺方向の長さが1.22μmの金ナノチェイン構造体を示す走査型透過電子顕微鏡像である。
図13Bの上のグラフは、酸化チタン薄膜の上に形成された金ナノチェイン構造体の反射スペクトルを示すグラフである。このグラフでは、金ナノチェイン構造体なし、長さ0.52μmの金ナノチェイン構造体、長さ0.75μmの金ナノチェイン構造体、長さ1.45μmの金ナノチェイン構造体および長さ2.38μmの金ナノチェイン構造体の反射スペクトルを示している。このグラフにおいて、横軸は光の波数であり、縦軸はプラズモン共鳴を示す反射率(実スケール)である。このグラフから、金ナノチェイン構造体のプラズモン共鳴バンドが赤外領域に観測されること、および金ナノチェイン構造体の長さが長いほどプラズモン共鳴バンドの波数が小さくなることがわかる。
1.光吸収デバイスの作製
支持基板としてのガラス板上に、スパッタリングにより厚み100nmの金薄膜(光反射層)を形成した。金薄膜を形成したガラス板を、2-メルカプトエタノールのエタノール溶液(50mg/mL)に24時間浸漬して、金薄膜の表面にヒドロキシル基を付加する表面処理を行った。表面処理をした金薄膜の上に、原子層堆積装置を用いて厚み30nmの酸化チタン(TiO2)薄膜(第1誘電体層)を形成した。酸化チタン薄膜の上に真空蒸着により厚み3nmの金薄膜を形成し、300℃で2時間アニールすることによりこの金薄膜を粒子化して、略球形状の複数の金ナノ粒子(金属ナノ構造体)を形成した。金ナノ粒子の平均粒径は、12nmであった。最後に、再度原子層堆積装置を用いて厚み7nmの酸化チタン薄膜(第2誘電体層)を形成した。このとき、2-メルカプトエタノールを用いた表面処理を行わずに酸化チタン薄膜を形成することで、複数の金ナノ粒子の上に酸化チタン薄膜を形成させずに、複数の金ナノ粒子の間に所定の厚みの酸化チタン薄膜を形成した。これにより、実質的にすべての金ナノ粒子は、部分的に酸化チタン薄膜内に埋まった状態(部分的に外部に露出している状態)となった。
作製した光吸収デバイスについて顕微ラマン測定装置を用いて表面増強ラマン散乱スペクトルを測定した。波長532nmの励起光を水浸対物レンズ(倍率63倍、開口数0.9)を用いて、0.1mMクリスタルバイオレット水溶液中の金ナノ微粒子に集光照射し、クリスタルバイオレット分子の表面増強ラマン散乱スペクトルを得た。図14は、クリスタルバイオレット分子の表面増強ラマン散乱スペクトルを示すグラフである。このグラフから、300cm-1~2000cm-1の幅広いラマンシフト領域でスペクトルの測定が可能であることがわかる。すなわち、本発明に係る光吸収デバイスは、励起波長と散乱波長の両方の波長においてプラズモン増強の寄与を必要とする表面増強ラマン散乱測定においても有用であることがわかる。

Claims (7)
- 光反射層と、
前記光反射層上に配置された誘電体層と、
前記誘電体層上に配置された複数の金属ナノ構造体と、
を有し、
前記複数の金属ナノ構造体は、それぞれ、その一部が前記誘電体層内に埋め込まれており、残部が外部に露出しており、
前記複数の金属ナノ構造体は、光を照射されたときに局在表面プラズモン共鳴を発生させ、
前記光反射層および前記誘電体層は、光を照射されたときにファブリ・ペロー共振器として機能する、
光吸収デバイス。 - 前記ファブリ・ペロー共振器の共振波長は、前記局在表面プラズモン共鳴のピーク波長±当該ピークの半値幅の範囲内である、請求項1に記載の光吸収デバイス。
- 前記誘電体層と接触しているすべての金属ナノ構造体の合計体積に対する、その一部が前記誘電体層内に埋め込まれており、残部が外部に露出している前記金属ナノ構造体の体積の割合は、90%以上である、請求項1または請求項2に記載の光吸収デバイス。
- 請求項1~3のいずれか一項に記載の光吸収デバイスを含む、光電極。
- 光反射層としての金属層を準備する工程と、
前記金属層の表面に第1誘電体層を形成する工程と、
前記第1誘電体層の上に、複数の金属ナノ構造体を形成する工程と、
前記第1誘電体層の上に、前記複数の金属ナノ構造体が完全に埋まらないように原子層堆積法により第2誘電体層を形成する工程と、
を有し、
前記複数の金属ナノ構造体は、光を照射されたときに局在表面プラズモン共鳴を発生させるように形成され、
前記光反射層、前記第1誘電体層および前記第2誘電体層は、光を照射されたときにファブリ・ペロー共振器として機能するように形成される、
光吸収デバイスの製造方法。 - 前記第2誘電体層を形成する工程では、前記複数の金属ナノ構造体の表面にヒドロキシル基を付加する表面処理を行うことなく、前記第1誘電体層の上に原子層堆積法により第2誘電体層を形成する、請求項5に記載の光吸収デバイスの製造方法。
- 前記第1誘電体層を形成する工程では、前記金属層の表面にヒドロキシル基を付加する表面処理を行った後に、前記表面処理をされた前記金属層の表面に原子層堆積法により第1誘電体層を形成する、請求項6に記載の光吸収デバイスの製造方法。
