三価金属陽イオンソース、アルカリ付与剤及び第1溶媒を使用し、水熱合成法ではない方法により、ギブサイト構造の化合物を製造する段階(S10)と、
前記ギブサイト構造の化合物、二価金属陽イオンソース、ジカルボン酸及び第2溶媒を使用し、水熱合成法ではない方法により、有機-無機ハイブリッド化合物を製造する段階(S20)と、を含む有機-無機ハイブリッド化合物の製造方法を提供する。
(1)柱密度が、極めて低くありながらも、構造的安定性にすぐれる。
(2)無機物層間に空スペースが多く生じ、空隙体積(pore volume)及び表面積(surface area)が大きくなる。
(3)柱密度が、顕著に低いために、ギブサイト構造を有する無機物層の八面体サイト(octahedral site)にドーピングさせる金属(例えば、Zn)の量、及び柱として作用する有機物(例えば、テレフタル酸イオン(terephthalate))の量がはるかに少なく要求される。
(4)柱部間距離が遠く(代表的には、化学式1で、xの名目値が0.0625以下である場合、距離は、14Å以上になる)、比較的大きい分子(例えば、発ガン物質として知られたベンゾ(a)ピレン)も柱部間に十分に入り込んで吸着される。
(5)同体積に対し、構成物質の量が少ないほど重さを軽減させることができる。物質固有の密度は、柱構造がない純粋なギブサイトにおいて、2.42g/cm3であるが、M(II)=Zn2+、M(III)=Al3+、A2-=テレフタル酸イオン、x=0.0625であるとき、0.99g/cm3と軽くなる。Aがテレフタル酸であるとき、柱構造化合物の密度をxの関数で表示すれば、(0.833+2.45x)g/cm3になる。
(7)他の多孔性物質であるゼオライト(zeolite)及び金属-有機骨格体(metal organic framework;covalent organic frameworkを含む)などと比較するとき、水熱合成あるいは溶媒熱合成(hydro-thermal synthesisあるいはsolvo-thermal synthesis)のような多エネルギー消費工程が必要なく、低廉な価格で産業用量産が可能である。
(8)炭素ナノチューブと酸化グラフェン(graphene oxide)も、吸着や保存のような目的に最近多く研究されてきたが、それらと比較しても、価格対比の性能や、量産可能性などにおいて、はるかに有利である。
(9)他の全ての先行技術に対し、低エネルギーと低圧との条件で製造可能であり、製造コスト節減だけではなく、安全性も確保することができる。
(10)製造工程において、他の界面活性剤や触媒が不要である。
(11)構成物質のうち、代表的金属成分であるAl、Zn において、いずれも有害な重金属(Cd、Hg、Pbなど)に属しない。また、テレフタル酸は、全世界的に、すでに産業用として非常に多く使用する廉価であって無害な有機物である。特に、柱形成のためにドーピングする最も代表的金属であるZnも、金属においては、価格が低廉である。リチウムイオン電池などに使用される原料物質であるLi、Co、Niなどは、すでに高価であり、今後需要増加が予測されながら、価格が続けて上昇しているが、そのような物質を全く使用せずに、本発明の具現が可能である。

(参考文献6)を使用して得られ、結果的として、水素分子1個当たり誘導された双極子及び四重極子それぞれが、-10meV及び-20meVの追加的吸着エネルギーを提供すると分かり、その和(約-30meV)は、水素分子のように、常温吸着が良好になされない分子の場合、吸着に相当に大きく寄与する。一般的に、過去に行われてきた絶対温度77K(=-196℃)での極低温実験においては、そのような追加的吸着エネルギー寄与なしにも、吸着保存が良好になされるが、本来吸着保存が良好になされない常温においては、そのような追加的吸着エネルギー(-30meV)が非常に重要であり、それにより、ファンデルワールス相互作用だけあるときより、保存量が約3倍増加する。具体的には、吸着エネルギーが-30meVほど追加され、それほどの化学ポテンシャル(chemical potential)μの変化(Δμ)が生じれば、25℃において、kT(kは、ボルツマン定数(Boltzmann constant)、T(絶対温度)=298.15K)値が25.7meVであり、平衡熱力学(equilibrium thermodynamics)により(参考文献7)、密度変化は、exp(-Δμ/kT)=3.2、すなわち、保存する気体の密度が約3倍上昇する。
(水熱合成法ではない方法によるギブサイトの製造)
Al(NO3)3を、撹拌を介して、250ml水に完全に溶解させ、Al(NO3)3水溶液を製造し、NaOHを、撹拌を介して、250ml水に完全に溶解させ、NaOH水溶液を製造した。
以上で得た水分が約30重量%含有された無定形のAl(OH)3、ZnCl2及びテレフタル酸を200mlの蒸溜水に入れ、70℃まで昇温させた後、7時間維持させ、沈殿物を得た。
(水熱合成法によるギブサイトの製造)
Al(NO3)3を、撹拌を介して、250ml水に完全に溶解させ、Al(NO3)3水溶液を製造し、NaOHを、撹拌を介して、250ml水に完全に溶解させ、NaOH水溶液を製造した。
実施例1における、水熱合成法ではない方法によって製造された無定形のAl(OH)3の代わりに、比較例3において水熱合成法によって製造された結晶性のAl(OH)3を使用したことを除いては、実施例1と同一方法(すなわち、水熱合成法ではない方法)でもって、有機-無機ハイブリッド化合物を得た。
有機-無機ハイブリッド化合物を製造する後半段階時、水熱合成法ではない方法の代わりに、水熱合成法を使用したことを除いては、実施例1と同一方法もって、有機-無機ハイブリッド化合物を得た。
実施例1において、その中間過程であるギブサイト製造段階(S10)で製造されたギブサイトのXRDを図3に図示した(実施例2~5及び比較例1,2の場合、ギブサイト製造段階(S10)までは、実施例1と完全に同一である)。比較例3で製造されたギブサイトのXRDグラフは、図4に図示した。XRD装置としては、RigakuのD/Max-2500VK/PCを使用し、分析条件は、CuK αradiation speed 2゜ min-1であった。
実施例1~5及び比較例1~4で最終製造された有機-無機ハイブリッド化合物のXRDグラフを分析し、その結果を、図7Aないし図7E、及び図8Aないし図8Dに順に示した。XRD装置としては、RigakuのD/Max-2500VK/PCを使用し、分析条件は、CuK αradiation speed 2゜ min-1であった。
実施例1~5及び比較例1,2で製造された有機-無機ハイブリッド化合物について、EDX元素分析を行い、その結果(実際に合成された物質の元素組成比率)を下記表2に順に示した。EDX装置としては、HoribaのX-MaxN50を使用した。
実施例1で製造された有機-無機ハイブリッド化合物の写真を撮影し、図9に示した。
実施例1,2で製造された有機-無機ハイブリッド化合物のSEM写真(scanning electron microscope image)を撮影し、図10A及び図10Bにそれぞれ示した。そこで使用されたSEM装置は、JEOL社のJSM-6390LVであった。
実施例1,2で製造された有機-無機ハイブリッド化合物について、XPS元素分析(X-ray photoemission spectroscopy)を行い、その結果を下記表3に示した。XPS装置としては、THERMO VG SCIENTIFIC(英国)のMultiLab 2000を使用した。
実施例1の前半段階(S10)で製造されたギブサイト、及び実施例1,2で製造された有機-無機ハイブリッド化合物のBET特性を分析し、その結果を下記表4に示した。
(Znがギブサイト(Al(OH)3)の八面体サイトにドーピングされることを確認)
ギブサイト(Al(OH)3)の八面体サイト周囲には、6個の酸素原子が存在する。具体的には、6個の酸素原子がギブサイトの八面体の6個頂点に該当する位置に存在する。該サイトは、ギブサイトの八面体の中心位置に該当し、金属原子(例えば、Zn)が該空きサイトを占めれば、周囲の酸素原子のいずれとも配位結合(coordinate bond)をなし、配位数(coordination number)が6である安定していて強い結合構造を完成する(参考文献10参照)。言い換えれば、金属原子が該空きサイトを占めることにより、金属原子は、電子対受容体(acceptor)として作用し、周囲酸素原子6個は、電子対供与体(donor)として作用し、強力な配位結合を形成する。
有機-無機ハイブリッド化合物の単一層厚d(図1A参照)を測定する最も普遍的であり、かつ正確な方法は、XRDグラフを利用することである。
実施例1~5及び比較例1~4で製造された有機-無機ハイブリッド化合物の構造を分析し、前記数式1で表示される柱密度、及び互いに隣接した柱部間の平均距離を計算し、その結果を下記表5に示した。ここで、xは、実際のZn/Alモル比を使用した。
活性炭、及び実施例1~5及び比較例2で製造された有機-無機ハイブリッド化合物の吸着特性を分析し、その結果を、図11、図12Aないし図12D、図13A、図13B、及び図14ないし図15にそれぞれ示した。
有害物質のうち、特に大気環境に関する自動車排気ガス、温室ガス(NO, NO2, N2O, SO2, CO, CO2, CH4)が、実施例1の有機-無機ハイブリッド化合物において吸着されるエネルギーを参考文献1および2の方法で計算し、表8に開示した。他の毒性化学物質である塩素ガス(Cl2)、フェノール(C6H6O)、喫煙に関連して、人体に有毒なシアン化水素(HCN)、アクロレイン(C3H4O)、ニコチン(C10N2H14)などが実施例1の有機-無機ハイブリッド化合物に吸着するエネルギーも計算して表9に開始した。そのような分子は、全ての原子に普遍的に存在する微弱なファンデルワールス相互作用によって吸着剤表面に吸着されるが、低密度柱構造の有機-無機ハイブリッド化合物の場合、その内部に、強い電場と電場勾配とが存在するので、電気双極子及び電気四重極子が追加して大きく寄与する。双極子が0ではない分子は、双極子が最大の寄与を行い、分極率αによって誘導された双極子(induced dipole)及び電気四重極子がさらなる寄与を行う。双極子が0である分子は、分極率αによって誘導された双極子及び電気四重極子が吸着に寄与する。メタン(CH4)は、双極子と四重極子とがいずれも0であるが、H原子が、直接有機-無機ハイブリッド化合物と相互作用することにより、類似した大きさの吸着エネルギーを有する。
前述のように、低密度柱構造の有機-無機ハイブリッド化合物は、内部の電場及び電場勾配の寄与により、既存水素分子吸着物質より相対的に大きいH2保存能を有する。

- それぞれ一方向に延長され、互いに対向するように配置された2層の無機物層と、
前記2層の無機物層間に配置された有機物層と、を含み、
前記各無機物層は、八面体サイトに、二価陽イオン金属がドーピングされたギブサイト構造を有し、
前記有機物層は、前記各無機物層と化学的に結合され、前記2層の無機物層を互いに連結する複数の柱部を含み、
下記化学式1で表示される、有機-無機ハイブリッド化合物:

化学式1で、M (II) は、二価金属陽イオンであり、M (III) は、三価金属陽イオンであり、A 2- は、ジカルボン酸イオンであり、0<x<0.2であり、
前記M (II) は、Zn 2+ 、Co 2+ 、Ni 2+ 、Cu 2+ 、またはそれらの組み合わせを含み、
前記M (III) は、Al 3+ であり、
前記A 2- は、テレフタル酸、シュウ酸、マロン酸、コハク酸、グルタル酸、2-メチルグルタル酸、3-メチルグルタル酸、アジピン酸、ピメリン酸、スベリン酸、アゼライン酸、セバシン酸、ウンデカン二酸、ドデカン二酸、ブラシル酸、テトラデカン二酸、フマル酸、2,2-ジメチルグルタル酸、マレイン酸、アセチレンジカルボン酸、グルタコン酸、2-デセン二酸、トラウマチン酸、ムコン酸、グルチン酸、シトラコン酸、メサコン酸、イタコン酸、タルトロン酸、メソシュウ酸、リンゴ酸、酒石酸、オキサロ酢酸、アスパラギン酸、グルタミン酸、ジアミノピメリン酸、サッカリン酸及び2,6-ナフタレンジカルボン酸、またはそれらの組み合わせに由来する二価陰イオンを含む。 - 前記有機物層は、前記2層の無機物層間に、それが延長された方向と交差する方向に延長されるように配置された複数の柱部を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機-無機ハイブリッド化合物。
- 前記二価陽イオンは、前記八面体サイト周囲に存在する6個の酸素原子いずれとも配位結合し、前記有機物層に存在する陰イオンとも、静電気的引力によって結合することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機-無機ハイブリッド化合物。
- 前記有機物層は、前記各無機物層と水素結合を形成することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機-無機ハイブリッド化合物。
- 前記化学式1で、0.03≦x≦0.150であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機-無機ハイブリッド化合物。
- 前記有機-無機ハイブリッド化合物は、下記数式1で表示される柱密度が、1/(360Å2)個~1/(55Å2)個であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機-無機ハイブリッド化合物:

柱密度=単一有機物層中の柱部の総個数/単一無機物層の平面表面積。 - 前記有機-無機ハイブリッド化合物は、前記数式1で表示される柱密度が、1/(306Å2)個~1/(74Å2)個であることを特徴とする請求項6に記載の有機-無機ハイブリッド化合物。
- 前記有機物層において、互いに隣接した柱部間の平均距離が8.0~20.6Åであることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機-無機ハイブリッド化合物。
- 前記有機物層において、互いに隣接した柱部間の平均距離が、9.2~18.8Åであることを特徴とする請求項8に記載の有機-無機ハイブリッド化合物。
