図2は、図1の梱包材100を積み重ねた図である。梱包材100は、被梱包体を梱包するまでは、図2に示すように複数の梱包材100が積み重ねられた状態で保管及び輸送される。その際、梱包材100が積み重ねられた積層体100Aは、積み重なった梱包材100の重さで荷重がかかり、梱包材100の長手方向の中央部分が撓みやすくなり、積層体100Aに反りが発生しやすくなる。しかし、梱包材100は、短手方向の中央部分において、長手方向に沿って中央横溝部31、上横溝部32、下横溝部33が形成されている。この中央横溝部31、上横溝部32、下横溝部33は、梱包材100の表面から内部に凹む有底溝である。そのため、梱包材100を撓ませる重力に対して、中央横溝部31、上横溝部32、下横溝部33の凹んだ有底溝を構成する側壁が耐力壁の役割を果たす。その結果、梱包材100は、積み重ねられたことによる反りが生じにくくなる。

図4に示すように、背面パネル1bには、矩形の開口部1b1が形成されており、開口部1b1を介して筐体1の内部に熱交換器3が配置されている。図4に示すように、室外機150を梱包する際には、熱交換器3は、室外機150の背面側から梱包材100によって覆われる。図4に示すように、梱包材100は、梱包材100の長手方向が、室外機150の上下方向となるように配置される。なお、梱包材100の配置の仕方は、図4に示すように、梱包材100の長手方向が、室外機150の上下方向となるように配置される態様に限定されるものではない。例えば、室外機150が、鉛直方向よりも水平方向が長い、横長の筐体1であり、熱交換器3が、横長の構成であれば、梱包材100の長手方向が、室外機150の左右方向となるように梱包材100が配置される。梱包材100は、熱交換器3を覆うことで、物流における荷扱い時の接触から熱交換器3を保護し、熱交換器3に係る圧力から熱交換器3を保護する。熱交換器3は、間隔を置いて並列に配置された複数の板状フィンと、複数の板状フィンと交差する複数の伝熱管と、を有する場合がある。特に、板状のフィンは、接触により変形しやすい。梱包材100は、熱交換器3を構成する板状のフィンを覆うことで、板状のフィンへの接触を防止することができ、これらの変形を防ぐことができる。また、図3に示すように、室外機150が梱包される際には、室外機150には、袋体50が被せられる。室外機150は、袋体50が被せられることで、表面が接触により傷つくことから保護され、また、塵埃等が付着することから保護される。袋体50は、例えば、ビニール袋である。

また、室外機150は、室外機150の脚部1hが載置される底部梱包材60と、室外機150の天面パネル1eに載置される上部梱包材61とにより梱包される。なお、底部梱包材60及び上部梱包材61は、例えば、段ボール材により構成される。室外機150が梱包される際には、室外機150と、底部梱包材60及び上部梱包材61との間に、緩衝材62を有してもよい。緩衝材62は、例えば、発泡スチロールにより構成されている。さらに、室外機150は、底部梱包材60と上部梱包材61との外側に掛けられるバンド部材70により梱包される。バンド部材70は、室外機150を底部梱包材60及び上部梱包材61で覆った状態を維持するためのものである。なお、バンド部材70は、図4及び図5では室外機150に3本使用されているが、バンド部材70の使用は3本に限定されるものではなく、1本又は2本でもよく、4本以上であってもよい。また、バンド部材70は、図4及び図5では、室外機150の前後方向及び上下方向に配置されているが、幅方向及び上下方向、あるいは、水平方向に配置されてもよい。また、室外機150が梱包される際には、筐体1に書類80が粘着テープ71によって取り付けられている。書類80は、例えば、保証書、取扱説明書等である。
