更に、フレキソ版の材質、製版技術、印刷機械に関する技術が飛躍的に進歩し、グラビア印刷やオフセット印刷に匹敵する高精細でより高濃度の印刷が可能となってきた。

ベタ部分のサイズは印刷物の絵柄を想定した数十センチ幅の大サイズから、数ミリ幅の小サイズまで特に限定はなく、印刷濃度管理に使用するベタパッチに対しても使用する事ができる。また、絵柄は四辺形に限定するものではなく、端部かすれが発生するあらゆる絵柄に適用できる。

このひずみを解消するため、ベタ部の両端部(非画線部との境界よりややベタ部側)でわずかに変形が生じる。特に後端部では印刷の際、前記変形による印圧の不均一、僅かな印圧不足の箇所が発生することで端部かすれにつながる。網点部は画線部と非画線部との組み合わせにより形成されるため、網点部全体でひずみを解消し、後端部においても印圧は均一に働き端部かすれは発生しにくい。端部かすれが発生しやすい印刷方向ベタ部末端部に意図的に網点部を配することで端部かすれを防ぐことができるのである。

一般的に端部かすれは印刷後端部から0.2mm〜0.5mm程度離れた箇所に発生することから、網点部の幅は0.05〜5mmが好ましく、より好ましくは0.1mm〜2mmである。またベタ部との視覚的な濃度差を抑えること考慮すれば99.5〜90%の網点が好ましく、より好ましくは99〜95%である。網点サイズが90%より小さいと網点の絵柄として印刷物に再現されてしまう恐れが生じる。
1つの網点サイズを決める網点線数としては45line/inch〜65line/inchが好ましい。また、85〜300dpiのデジタル網点を使用する事もできる。
