Description

The present invention relates to a method for preventing "edge blurring", which is an important issue for improving the print quality of flexographic printing. The edge blur is a linear blur that occurs at the rear end portion (slightly solid portion side from the boundary with the non-image portion) that is orthogonal to the printing direction in the solid portion due to poor ink transfer.

Solvent-type flexographic inks and solvent-type gravure inks have been mainly used for package printing. However, global environmental changes such as the expansion of the ozone hole and global warming have become prominent, and the momentum for environmental protection is increasing. With the addition of the move to, regulations on the use of organic solvents may become even more stringent. On the other hand, the consumption of film packages is increasing worldwide due to the increase in population and income level, and the production of ink for packaging is increasing year by year. Due to such changes in environmental awareness, in recent years, water-based inks in which the organic solvent in the ink has been replaced with water, especially water-based flexographic inks, have been actively developed and improved.
Furthermore, the material of flexographic plates, plate making technology, and technology related to printing machines have made dramatic progress, and high-definition and higher-density printing comparable to gravure printing and offset printing has become possible.

Therefore, as water-based flexographic inks have become widespread in the packaging field and used for high-definition, high-density printing, problems that have not been a problem until now have become apparent, and one of them is called "edge blurring". It is a phenomenon.
"End blur" is a phenomenon that is seen at the rear end of a solid portion that is orthogonal to the printing direction, slightly closer to the solid portion than the boundary with the non-image area, and is a linear blur due to poor ink transfer. Therefore, improvement of edge blurring is an important issue in improving the quality of flexographic printing.

To give an example in the field of offset printing, inventions relating to a ghost erasing method and a discard net generator for avoiding a defective phenomenon called ghost caused by a difference in density or arrangement of patterns are disclosed (for example, Patent Document 1 and 2).
However, these cannot be a means to solve the "edge blur" of flexographic printing.

Japanese Unexamined Patent Publication No. 2001-232925

An object of the present invention is to provide a method for preventing the occurrence of the phenomenon of "edge blurring" in flexographic printing.

As a result of intensive research, the inventors have devised a solid part at the rear end of the printing plate that is orthogonal to the printing direction so that the solid part of the flexographic printing does not have a faint edge. We have come to provide a method to prevent edge blurring.

That is, the present invention is characterized in that a halftone dot portion adjacent to the rear end portion of the solid portion orthogonal to the printing direction is provided so that the end portion of the solid portion of flexographic printing is not blurred. Regarding prevention methods.

Further, in the present invention, the width of the halftone dot portion adjacent to the rear end portion of the solid portion orthogonal to the printing direction in the printing direction is 0.05 to 5 mm, and the halftone dot% is 99.5 to 90% flexographic printing. Regarding the method of preventing the edge of the surface from being scratched.

Furthermore, the present invention relates to a printed matter using the method for preventing edge blurring of flexographic printing.

In the method for preventing edge blurring of flexographic printing of the present invention, a halftone dot portion adjacent to a solid portion is provided at the rear end portion of the flexographic plate orthogonal to the printing direction so that edge blurring does not occur in the solid portion of flexographic printing. It is characterized by providing.

When a solid portion is used, it is possible to suppress the occurrence of edge blurring by inserting a band-shaped halftone dot portion at the rear end portion orthogonal to the printing direction. FIG. 1 is an enlarged photograph of edge faintness seen in a solid portion of a flexographic printed matter. In the present invention, a band-shaped halftone dot portion is inserted at the rear end portion adjacent to the solid portion of the flexographic plate and orthogonal to the printing direction.
FIG. 3 is a plan view of a flexographic plate having a solid portion that can prevent the end portion of the present invention from being blurred. By using the method for preventing edge blurring of flexographic printing according to the present invention, it is possible to obtain a printed matter composed of a high-quality solid portion without white spots shown in FIG.
The size of the solid part is not particularly limited from a large size of several tens of centimeters wide assuming a printed matter pattern to a small size of several millimeters wide, and can also be used for a solid patch used for print density control. In addition, the pattern is not limited to a quadrilateral, and can be applied to any pattern in which edge fading occurs.

FIG. 4 is an illustration showing a cross-sectional view of a flexographic printing plate cylinder and a solid printing plate portion showing the mechanism of edge blurring.
In flexographic printing, a method of mounting a flat plate-shaped flexo plate on a cylindrical cylinder after plate making is common, and when mounting on a cylindrical cylinder, the difference in circumference between the upper and lower parts of the flexo plate is shown in the figure. With respect to the broken line shape showing the outer shape of the flexographic plate of No. 4, distortion tends to occur at the upper part as compared with the bottom part of the plate as shown by the solid line.
In order to eliminate this distortion, slight deformation occurs at both ends of the solid portion (slightly solid portion side from the boundary with the non-image portion). In particular, at the rear end portion, when printing, uneven printing pressure due to the deformation and a slight shortage of printing pressure occur, which leads to fading of the end portion. Since the halftone dot portion is formed by the combination of the halftone dot portion and the non-image pattern portion, the distortion is eliminated in the entire halftone dot portion, the printing pressure is uniformly applied even at the rear end portion, and the end portion is less likely to be blurred. It is possible to prevent edge blurring by intentionally arranging halftone dots at the end of the solid portion in the printing direction where edge blurring is likely to occur.

Generally, edge blurring occurs at a position separated from the rear edge of printing by about 0.2 mm to 0.5 mm. Therefore, the width of the halftone dot portion is preferably 0.05 to 5 mm, more preferably 0.1 mm to 0.1 mm. It is 2 mm. Further, considering that the visual density difference from the solid portion is suppressed, 99.5 to 90% of halftone dots is preferable, and 99 to 95% is more preferable. If the halftone dot size is smaller than 90%, there is a risk that the halftone dot pattern will be reproduced in the printed matter.
The number of halftone dots that determines the size of one halftone dot is preferably 45 lines / inch to 65 lines / inch. It is also possible to use 85 to 300 dpi digital halftone dots.

[Making a printing plate]
Asahi Kasei AFP-DSF (1.14 mm) is used as the flexographic plate, and the percentage of halftone dots adjacent to the end of the solid portion in the printing direction is 99.5%, 98%, 95%, 90% of the number of lines of 45 lines / inch. For each of the four types, those having a halftone dot processing width of 0.05 to 3.0 mm were plate-made according to Table 1.
