Description
本発明は、潤滑粘度の油およびホウ素含有化合物を含む潤滑組成物であって、前記ホウ素含有化合物が、β位またはより高位の位置に分枝を有するアルキル基を少なくとも1つ含むホウ酸エステルを含み得る、潤滑組成物を提供する。さらに、本発明は、内燃機関における潤滑組成物の使用に関連する。
潤滑油にとって、内燃機関を摩耗、すすの堆積、および酸の蓄積から保護するために用いられる、多くの界面活性添加剤(耐摩耗剤、分散剤、または清浄剤)を含むことは周知である。たびたび、ジアルキルジチオリン酸亜鉛(エンジン潤滑油にとって一般的な耐摩耗性添加剤はジアルキルジチオリン酸亜鉛(ZDDP)である)または分散剤を含む、そのような界面活性添加剤は、ベアリングの腐食または摩擦性能に対する悪影響を有し得る。
本発明は、耐摩耗性能、摩擦調整(特に増大している燃料節約のための)、極圧性能、酸化防止性能、鉛もしくは銅の腐食防止、またはシール膨潤性能のうちの少なくとも1つを提供することができる潤滑剤組成物を対象とする。1つの実施形態において、本発明は、鉛または銅の腐食防止の少なくとも1つを提供することができる潤滑剤組成物を対象とする。本明細書で用いられる場合、本明細書に開示される潤滑剤組成物中に存在する添加剤の量への言及は、オイルフリー基準すなわち活性物質の量で見積もられる。
本明細書に記載される本発明は、潤滑粘度の油およびホウ素含有化合物を含む潤滑剤組成物、ならびにそのような潤滑剤組成物を用いてエンジンを潤滑する方法を提供する。
1つの実施形態において、本発明の潤滑組成物は、ホウ素含有化合物を含む。1つの実施形態において、前記ホウ素含有化合物は、ホウ酸エステルまたはホウ素化アルコール(borated alcohol)を含む。
潤滑組成物は、潤滑粘度の油を含む。そのような油として、天然油および合成油、水素化分解、水素添加、および水素化仕上げから得られる油、未精製油、精製油、再精製油またはそれらの混合物が挙げられる。未精製油、精製油、および再精製油のより詳細な説明は、国際公開WO2008/147704、[0054]〜[0056]段落で提供される(類似の開示は米国特許出願2010/197536で提供される、[0072]〜[0073]を参照のこと)。天然潤滑油および合成潤滑油のより詳細な説明は、それぞれWO2008/147704の[0058]〜[0059]段落に記載される(類似の開示は米国特許出願2010/197536で提供される、[0075]〜[0076]を参照のこと)。合成油も、フィッシャートロプシュ反応によって生成され得、代表的にはフィッシャートロプシュ炭化水素またはフィッシャートロプシュワックスへと水素異性化され得る。1つの実施形態において、油は、フィッシャートロプシュガス・トゥー・リキッド合成法ならびに他のガス・トゥー・リキッド油によって調製され得る。
前記組成物は、必要に応じて他の性能添加剤を含む。前記他の性能添加剤は、金属不活性化剤、粘度調整剤、清浄剤、摩擦調整剤、耐摩耗剤、腐食防止剤(本発明のホウ素含有化合物以外)、分散剤、分散性粘度調整剤(dispersant viscosity modifiers)、極圧添加剤、酸化防止剤、消泡剤(form inhibitors)、抗乳化剤、流動点降下剤、シール膨潤剤、およびそれらの混合物のうちの少なくとも1つを含み得る。代表的に、十分に調合された潤滑油は、1つまたはそれより多くのこれらの性能添加剤を含む。
前記潤滑組成物は、内燃機関に利用され得る。前記機関構成要素は、鋼鉄またはアルミニウムの表面(代表的には鋼鉄の表面)を有し得る。
ADD1:1当量のホウ酸と3当量のn−ブタノールとの反応生成物。
ADD2:1当量のホウ酸と3当量のn−オクタノールとの反応生成物。
ADD3:1当量のホウ酸と3当量のn−デカノールとの反応生成物。
ADD4:1当量のホウ酸と3当量のn−ドデカノールとの反応生成物。
ADD5:1当量のホウ酸と3当量の2−エチルヘキサノールとの反応生成物。
ADD6:1当量のホウ酸と3当量の2−プロピルヘプタノールとの反応生成物。
ADD7:1当量のホウ酸と2当量の2−プロピルヘプタノールとの反応生成物。
ADD8:1当量のホウ酸と3当量の2−ブチルオクタノールとの反応生成物。
ADD9:1当量のホウ酸と3当量のC12−13分枝状アルコールの混合物(Safol(商標登録)23アルコールという名でSasolから入手可能)との反応生成物。
ADD10:1当量のホウ酸と3当量の分枝状C13アルコール(Marlipal(商標登録)O13アルコールという名でSasolから入手可能)との反応生成物。
上に記載される添加剤、ならびに高分子粘度調整剤、無灰のスクシンイミド分散剤、過塩基性清浄剤、酸化防止剤(フェノール性エステル、ジアリールアミン、および硫化オレフィンの組み合わせ)、ジアルキルジチオリン酸亜鉛(ZDDP)、ならびに他の性能添加剤を含む従来の添加剤を含む、潤滑粘度のグループIIの基油における一連の15W−40エンジン潤滑剤を調製する。全ての前記潤滑剤を、下記の表2に従って一般的な調合物から調製した。
本発明の好ましい実施形態によれば、例えば、以下が提供される。
(項1)
潤滑剤組成物であって、
a)潤滑粘度の油、および
b)少なくとも1つの10個〜約32個の炭素原子を有するアルキル基を含むホウ酸エステルであって、該アルキル基がβ位またはそれより高位に分枝を有し、該ホウ酸エステルが、該潤滑剤組成物に約1〜約1000重量百万分率のホウ素を提供する量で存在する、ホウ酸エステル
を含む、潤滑剤組成物。
(項2)
前記ホウ酸エステルが、互いに独立して10個〜約32個の炭素原子を有する複数のアルキル基を含み、前記アルキル基が、β位またはそれより高位に分枝を有する、上記項1に記載の潤滑剤組成物。
(項3)
前記アルキル基が、β位で分枝状である、上記項1または上記項2に記載の潤滑剤組成物。
(項4)
前記アルキル基が、−CH 2 −C(R 1 )(R 2 )Hで表される構造を有し、R 1 が7個〜約18個の炭素原子のアルキル基であり、R 2 がR 1 よりも少ない炭素原子を有するアルキル基である、上記項1から3のいずれかに記載の潤滑剤組成物。
(項5)
前記アルキル基が、−CH 2 −C(R 1 )(R 2 )Hで表される構造を有し、R 1 が7個〜約18個の炭素原子のアルキル基であり、R 2 がR 1 よりも2個少ない炭素原子を有するアルキル基である、上記項1から4のいずれかに記載の潤滑剤組成物。
(項6)
前記アルキル基が、2−プロピルヘプチル基、2−ブチルオクチル基、2−ヘキシルデシル基、または2−オクチルドデシル基である、上記項1から5のいずれかに記載の潤滑剤組成物。
(項7)
前記アルキル基が、ゲルベアルコールから誘導される、上記項1から6のいずれかに記載の潤滑剤組成物。
(項8)
前記ホウ酸エステルが、式(RO) 3 B、(RO) 2 B−O−B(OR) 2 、または
の1つまたはそれより多くで表され、それぞれのRが独立して10個〜約32個の炭素原子を有し、β位またはそれより高位に分枝を有するアルキル基である、上記項1から7のいずれかに記載の潤滑剤組成物。
(項9)
前記ホウ酸エステルが、トリアルキルボレートを含む、上記項1から8のいずれかに記載の潤滑剤組成物。
(項10)
前記ホウ酸エステルが、構造
で表される物質を含む、上記項1から9のいずれかに記載の潤滑剤。
(項11)
過塩基性清浄剤をさらに含む、上記項1から10のいずれかに記載の潤滑剤。
(項12)
少なくとも1つの1〜110mg KOH/gの全塩基価を有するアミン官能基化分散剤をさらに含む、上記項1から11のいずれかに記載の潤滑剤。
(項13)
少なくとも1つの0.5〜8mg KOH/gのTBNを前記潤滑剤にもたらすのに十分な量のアミン官能基化分散剤をさらに含む、上記項1から12のいずれかに記載の潤滑剤。
(項14)
機械装置を潤滑する方法であって、上記項1から13のいずれかに記載の潤滑剤を該機械装置に供給する工程を含む方法。
(項15)
前記機械装置が内燃機関である、上記項14に記載の方法。
(項16)
内燃機関の腐食を削減する方法であって、
(a)潤滑粘度の油、および
(b)少なくとも1つの10個〜約32個の炭素原子を有するアルキル基を含むホウ酸エステルであって、該アルキル基がβ位またはそれより高位に分枝を有し、該ホウ酸エステルが、潤滑剤組成物に約1〜約1000重量百万分率のホウ素を提供する量で存在する、ホウ酸エステル
を含む潤滑組成物を提供する工程;ならびに
該潤滑組成物を該内燃機関に供給する工程、
を含む方法。
Claims (16)
- 潤滑剤組成物であって、
a)潤滑粘度の油、および
b)少なくとも1つの10個〜32個の炭素原子を有するアルキル基を含むホウ酸エステルであって、該アルキル基がβ位またはそれより高位に分枝を有し、該ホウ酸エステルが、該潤滑剤組成物に1〜1000重量百万分率のホウ素を提供する量で存在し、ここで該ホウ酸エステルは、イソ−デシルアルコールとホウ酸とによって調製される生成物ではない、ホウ酸エステル
を含む、潤滑剤組成物。 - 前記ホウ酸エステルが、互いに独立して10個〜32個の炭素原子を有する複数のアルキル基を含み、前記アルキル基が、β位またはそれより高位に分枝を有する、請求項1に記載の潤滑剤組成物。
- 前記アルキル基が、β位で分枝状である、請求項1または請求項2に記載の潤滑剤組成物。
- 前記アルキル基が、−CH2−C(R1)(R2)Hで表される構造を有し、R1が7個〜18個の炭素原子のアルキル基であり、R2がR1よりも少ない炭素原子を有するアルキル基である、請求項1から3のいずれかに記載の潤滑剤組成物。
- 前記アルキル基が、−CH2−C(R1)(R2)Hで表される構造を有し、R1が7個〜18個の炭素原子のアルキル基であり、R2がR1よりも2個少ない炭素原子を有するアルキル基である、請求項1から4のいずれかに記載の潤滑剤組成物。
- 前記アルキル基が、2−プロピルヘプチル基、2−ブチルオクチル基、2−ヘキシルデシル基、または2−オクチルドデシル基である、請求項1から5のいずれかに記載の潤滑剤組成物。
- 前記アルキル基が、ゲルベアルコールから誘導される、請求項1から6のいずれかに記載の潤滑剤組成物。
- 前記ホウ酸エステルが、トリアルキルボレートを含む、請求項1から8のいずれかに記載の潤滑剤組成物。
- 過塩基性清浄剤をさらに含む、請求項1から10のいずれかに記載の潤滑剤。
- 少なくとも1つの1〜110mg KOH/gの全塩基価を有するアミン官能基化分散剤をさらに含む、請求項1から11のいずれかに記載の潤滑剤。
- 少なくとも1つの0.5〜8mg KOH/gのTBNを前記潤滑剤にもたらすのに十分な量のアミン官能基化分散剤をさらに含む、請求項1から12のいずれかに記載の潤滑剤。
- 機械装置を潤滑する方法であって、請求項1から13のいずれかに記載の潤滑剤を該機械装置に供給する工程を含む方法。
- 前記機械装置が内燃機関である、請求項14に記載の方法。
- 内燃機関の腐食を削減する方法であって、
(a)潤滑粘度の油、および
(b)少なくとも1つの10個〜32個の炭素原子を有するアルキル基を含むホウ酸エステルであって、該アルキル基がβ位またはそれより高位に分枝を有し、該ホウ酸エステルが、潤滑剤組成物に1〜1000重量百万分率のホウ素を提供する量で存在し、ここで該ホウ酸エステルは、イソ−デシルアルコールとホウ酸とによって調製される生成物ではない、ホウ酸エステル
を含む潤滑組成物を提供する工程;ならびに
該潤滑組成物を該内燃機関に供給する工程、
を含む方法。
