Description

施形態の一部では、拡張器は、拡張器間の迅速交換を容易にするように構成される特徴を含む。例えば、以下に詳述されるとおり、本開示の範囲内のいくつかの拡張器は、迅速交換を容易にするためのスロットを含む。迅速交換は、例えば、第1の拡張器が主に進入に使用される(「進入拡張器」)一方で、第2の拡張器が、遠位蛇行性経路に沿って、例えば、大動脈弓から頸動脈にシースを前進させる場合に用いられる(「追跡拡張器」)。

Claims (24)
- シースと関連して使用するための拡張器であって、
遠位端及び近位端を画定する、細長い本体であって、遠位部分及び近位部分が前記遠位端と前記近位端との間に延在する、細長い本体と、
前記本体内に位置付けられる内腔であって、前記本体の前記遠位端において遠位開口部を画定する、内腔と、
前記内腔から前記近位部分における前記細長い本体の側壁を通して延在する、スロットであって、前記スロットが、前記細長い本体の前記近位端から長手方向に延在し、前記細長い本体及び前記スロットが、前記近位部分内に前記内腔の偏心して位置付けられる部分を画定する、スロットと、
を備える、拡張器。 - 前記スロットが、前記細長い本体の前記近位端から前記細長い本体の前記遠位端に延在する前記細長い本体の長さの大部分に沿って延在する、請求項1に記載の拡張器。
- 前記拡張器が、ショアDスケール上で50超のデュロメータ硬度を有する材料で形成される、請求項1に記載の拡張器。
- 前記拡張器が、前記シースの遠位端を越えて少なくとも10cm延在するように構成される、請求項1に記載の拡張器。
- 前記拡張器が、ショアDスケール上で45以下のデュロメータ硬度を有する材料で形成される、請求項4に記載の拡張器。
- 前記拡張器が、該拡張器の前記遠位端に隣接した先細でない円筒部分を含む、請求項4に記載の拡張器。
- 前記先細でない円筒部分が、少なくとも3cmの長さである、請求項6に記載の拡張器。
- 前記先細でない円筒部分が、0.025cm(0.010インチ)未満の側壁の厚さを有する、請求項6に記載の拡張器。
- 前記拡張器が、前記先細でない円筒部分に隣接した先細の部分を形成する、請求項6に記載の拡張器。
- 前記先細の部分が、少なくとも10cmの長さである、請求項9に記載の拡張器。
- 前記拡張器が、放射線不透過性材料で形成される、請求項1に記載の拡張器。
- 前記拡張器が、該拡張器の前記遠位端に隣接した放射線不透過性マーカーバンドを含む、請求項1に記載の拡張器。
- 潤滑性コーティングを更に備える、請求項1に記載の拡張器。
- 細長いシースと、進入拡張器と、追跡拡張器とを備えるシースアセンブリであって、
前記進入拡張器は、
遠位端及び近位端を画定する、細長い本体であって、遠位部分及び近位部分が前記遠位端と前記近位端との間に延在する、細長い本体と、
前記本体内に位置付けられる内腔であって、前記本体の前記遠位端において遠位開口部を画定する、内腔と、
前記内腔から前記近位部分における前記進入拡張器の側壁を通して延在する、スロットであって、前記スロットが、前記細長い本体の前記近位端から長手方向に延在し、前記細長い本体及び前記スロットが、前記近位部分内に前記内腔の偏心して位置付けられる部分を画定する、スロットと、
を備え、
前記追跡拡張器は、
遠位端及び近位端を画定する、細長い本体と、
前記本体内に位置付けられる内腔であって、前記本体の前記遠位端において遠位開口部を画定する、内腔と、
前記内腔から近位部分における前記追跡拡張器の側壁を通して延在する、スロットであって、前記スロットが、前記細長い本体の前記近位端から長手方向に延在し、前記細長い本体及び前記スロットが、前記近位部分内に前記内腔の偏心して位置付けられる部分を画定する、スロットと、
前記追跡拡張器の前記遠位端に隣接した先細でない円筒部分と、
を備える、シースアセンブリ。 - 前記シースアセンブリは、第3の拡張器を更に備え、
前記第3の拡張器は、
遠位端及び近位端を画定する、細長い本体と、
前記本体内に位置付けられる内腔であって、前記本体の前記遠位端において遠位開口部を画定する、内腔とを備え、
前記第3の拡張器が、該第3の拡張器の前記遠位端に隣接した先細でない円筒部分と、前記先細でない円筒部分に隣接した先細の部分と、を備え、
前記第3の拡張器が、ショアDスケール上で45以下のデュロメータ硬度を有する材料で形成される、請求項14に記載のシースアセンブリ。 - 患者の頸動脈の中への頸動脈シースの配置のために設計される迅速交換拡張器であって、
前記拡張器が、細長い本体、及び該細長い本体の全長に延在する内腔を有し、
前記内腔が、近位部分におけるスロットを有し、遠位開口部を画定する遠位端における中央に位置する円形部分を備え、
前記スロットが、前記内腔から前記拡張器の外壁を通して延在し、また、前記拡張器の近位端から遠位部分に長手方向に延在し、
前記遠位部分が、前記遠位端から前記近位部分まで連続した外周を含み、
前記スロットが、前記拡張器の長さの大部分に沿って配設され、
前記細長い本体及び前記スロットが、前記内腔の偏心して位置付けられる区分を画定する、迅速交換拡張器。 - 前記拡張器は、迅速交換拡張器であって、
前記患者の皮膚を通して前記患者の鼠径部の大腿動脈の中に進入するために明示的に設計される進入拡張器であり、50超のショアDデュロメータを持つ比較的硬いプラスチック材料から形成される、請求項16に記載の拡張器。 - 前記拡張器は、迅速交換拡張器であって、
頸動脈狭窄を通して配置されたガイドワイヤ上を、前記ガイドワイヤを前記狭窄から引き出すことなく容易に前進するように明示的に設計される追跡拡張器であり、少なくとも10cmの前記頸動脈シースの末端を越えて延在する長さを有し、前記拡張器を形成するプラスチック材料が、45以下のショアDデュロメータを持ち、比較的柔らかい、請求項16に記載の拡張器。 - 前記拡張器は、迅速交換拡張器であって、
前記拡張器の前記遠位部分が、少なくとも3cmの長さを有する薄壁円筒管であり、前記頸動脈シースの前記遠位端に対して遠位にある前記拡張器の残りの部分が、略先細の区分であり、その最大直径が、前記頸動脈シースの前記遠位端に位置し、前記残りの部分の前記遠位端が、前記薄壁円筒管と同一の直径を有し、前記拡張器の前記先細の区分の長さが、少なくとも10cmである、請求項18に記載の拡張器。 - 前記拡張器は、迅速交換拡張器であって、

前記拡張器を放射線不透過性にするように、タングステン粒子で充填されるプラスチックから形成される、請求項18に記載の拡張器。 - 前記拡張器は、迅速交換拡張器であって、
該拡張器の前記遠位端、又はその付近に位置する放射線不透過性マーカーバンドを有する、請求項18に記載の拡張器。 - 前記拡張器は、迅速交換拡張器であって、
