Description
(A)シラングラフト化エチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマー及びヒドロキシル末端ポリオルガノシロキサンのブレンドと、
(B)該組成物の重量に基づいて、70以上、または70超〜95、または75〜90、または78〜85重量パーセント(重量%)のビニル末端シリコーンラバーと、
(C)架橋触媒と、
(D)エチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマーと、
(E)任意に、添加剤及び充填剤のうちの1つ以上と、を含む、組成物である。
(1)均質な組成物であって、
(A)シラングラフト化エチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマー及びヒドロキシル末端ポリオルガノシロキサンのブレンドと、
(B)該組成物の重量に基づいて、70以上、または70超〜95、または75〜90、または78〜85重量%のビニル末端シリコーンラバーと、
(C)架橋触媒と、
(D)エチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマーと、
(E)任意に、添加剤及び充填剤のうちの1つ以上と、を含む均質な組成物を形成するステップと、
(2)前記均質な組成物を成形物品に形成するステップと、
(3)前記成形物品を少なくとも部分的に硬化するステップと、
(4)前記少なくとも部分的に硬化された成形物品を脱気するステップと、
(5)前記硬化された成形物品を伸張させるステップと、
(6)伸張、硬化された成形物品を伸張した状態に維持するステップと、を含む、方法である。
(A)シラングラフト化エチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマー及びヒドロキシル末端ポリオルガノシロキサンのブレンドと、
(B)該組成物の重量に基づいて、70以上、または70超〜95、または75〜90、または78〜85重量%のビニル末端シリコーンラバーと、
(C)架橋触媒と、
(D)エチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマーと、
(E)任意に、添加剤及び充填剤のうちの1つ以上と、を含む。

シラングラフト化エチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマー(Si−g−エチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマー)
エチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマー
エチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマーは、ポリオルガノシロキサンとのブレンドの前にシランでグラフト化されて、本発明の組成物のSi−g−エチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマー/ポリオルガノシロキサンブレンド構成成分を形成する。本明細書で使用される場合、Si−g−エチレンエラストマーは、少なくとも1つのシラン化合物でグラフト化される、上述されるようなエチレンエラストマーである。

この式中、Rは、水素原子またはメチル基であり、x及びyは、0または1であるが、但しxが1のとき、yは、1であることを条件とし、nは、1〜12を含むかまたは1〜4の整数であり、各R′は独立して、1〜12個の炭素原子を有するアルコキシ基(例えば、メトキシ、エトキシ、ブトキシ)、アリールオキシ基(例えば、フェノキシ)、アラルオキシ(araloxy)基(例えば、ベンジルオキシ)、脂肪族もしくは芳香族シロキシ基、芳香族アシルオキシル基、1〜12個の炭素原子を有する脂肪族アシルオキシ基(例えば、ホルミルオキシ、アセチルオキシ、プロパノイルオキシ)、アミノもしくは置換アミノ基(アルキルアミノ、アリールアミノ)、または1〜6個の炭素原子を有するより低いアルキル基を含むが、これらに限定されない有機基である。
本発明の組成物の第1のまたはA構成成分であるSi−g−エチレン−α−オレフィン/OH末端ポリオルガノシロキサンブレンドのOH末端ポリオルガノシロキサン構成成分は典型的に、直線状または部分的に分岐した構造だが、好ましくは直線状の構造を有し得る平均単位式RaSiO(4−a)/2を有する。各Rは、同じであっても、異なってもよい。Rは、例えばメチル、エチル、プロピル、ブチル、及びオクチル基などのアルキル基、フェニル及びトリル基などのアリール基;アラルキル基;アルケニル基、例えばビニル、アリル、ブテニル、ヘキセニル、及びヘプテニル基;ならびにハロゲン化アルキル基、例えばクロロプロピル及び3,3,3−トリフルオロプロピル基であり得る、置換または未置換の一価炭化水素である。ポリオルガノシロキサンは、1つ以上のヒドロキシル基を末端に有する。Rがアルケニル基のとき、アルケニル基は好ましくは、ビニル基またはヘキセニル基、及び最も好ましくはビニル基である。実際、アルケニル基は、末端基及び/またはポリマー側鎖上でポリオルガノシロキサン中に存在し得る。
Si−g−エチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマー及びOH末端ポリオルガノシロキサンのブレンドは典型的に、90〜99.5、より典型的に93〜99、及びさらにより典型的に97〜95重量%のSi−g−エチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマーを含む。Si−g−エチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマー及びOH末端ポリオルガノシロキサンのブレンドは典型的に、0.5〜10、より典型的に1〜7、及びさらにより典型的に3〜5重量%のOH末端ポリオルガノシロキサンを含む。ブレンドは上述されるような1つ以上の他の構成成分を含有し得るが、典型的に及び好ましくは、ブレンドのたった2つの構成成分が、Si−g−エチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマー及びOH末端ポリオルガノシロキサンである。
本発明の組成物のビニル末端シリコーンラバー構成成分は、少なくとも1つの末端ヒドロキシル基よりもむしろ少なくとも1つの末端ビニル基を含むことを除いて、上述されるようなポリオルガノシロキサンである。代表的なビニル末端シリコーンラバーには、ビニル末端ポリジメチルシロキサン、ビニル末端ポリジメチルシロキサン、メチルビニルシロキサン及びジメチルシロキサンのビニル末端コポリマー、メチルビニルシロキサン及びジメチルシロキサンのビニル末端コポリマー、ビニル末端ポリジメチルシロキサン、メチルビニルシロキサン及びジメチルシロキサンのビニル末端コポリマー、メチルビニルシロキサン及びジメチルシロキサンのビニル末端コポリマー、ビニル末端ポリジメチルシロキサン、メチルヘキセニルシロキサン及びジメチルシロキサンのビニル末端コポリマー、メチルヘキセニルシロキサン及びジメチルシロキサンのビニル末端コポリマー、メチルフェニルシロキサン及びジメチルシロキサンのビニル末端コポリマー、メチルフェニルシロキサン及びジメチルシロキサンのビニル末端コポリマー、メチル(3,3,3−トリフルオロプロピル)シロキサン及びジメチルシロキサンのビニル末端コポリマー、ならびにメチル(3,3,3−トリフルオロプロピル)シロキサン及びジメチルシロキサンのビニル末端コポリマーが含まれるが、これらに限定されない。典型的に、ビニル末端シリコーンラバーがビニル末端及びヒドロキシル末端の両方を含む場合、それは、本発明のラバー構成成分の部と見なされる。
シラン化グラフト化の硬化(架橋)は、架橋触媒(時に架橋剤と称される)で促進され、Si−g−エチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマーの架橋を効果的に促進するであろう任意の触媒が使用され得る。これらの触媒には概して、有機チタン酸塩、有機ジルコン酸塩、ならびに鉛、コバルト、鉄、ニッケル、亜鉛、及び錫の錯体またはカルボン酸塩を含む、酸及び塩基、ならびに有機金属化合物が含まれる。
一実施形態において、本発明の組成物のエチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマー構成成分は、上述される事前グラフト化エチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマーと同じである。
本発明の組成物及び物品は、添加剤も含有し得る。代表的な添加剤には、抗酸化剤、架橋共剤、硬化増進剤及び難焦剤、加工助剤、結合剤、紫外線安定剤(紫外線吸収剤を含む)、帯電防止剤、造核剤、スリップ剤、可塑剤(特に、可塑剤油)、潤滑剤、粘度制御剤、粘着付与剤、抗遮断剤、界面活性剤、伸展油、掃酸剤、難燃剤、ならびに金属不活性化剤が含まれるが、これらに限定されない。これらの添加剤は典型的に、従来の様式及び従来の量、例えば本組成物の重量に基づいて、0.01重量%以下〜20重量%以上で使用される。
一実施形態において、常温収縮組成物は、該組成物の重量に基づいて、
(A)0.5〜30、または1〜20、または3〜10重量%のシラングラフト化エチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマー及びヒドロキシル末端ポリオルガノシロキサンのブレンドと、
(B)70以上、または70超〜95、または75〜90、または78〜85重量%のビニル末端シリコーンラバーと、
(C)0.001〜5、または0.005〜2、または0.1〜1重量%の架橋触媒と、
(D)0.5〜50、または1〜40、または5〜35重量%のエチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマーと、
(E)任意に、添加剤及び充填剤のうちの1つ以上と、を含む。
本組成物を調合することは、当業者に既知である標準器具によりもたらされ得る。調合器具の例は、BANBURY(商標)またはBOLLING(商標)密閉式混合機などの密閉式バッチ混合機である。あるいは、FARREL(商標)連続的混合機もしくはHAAKE(商標)混合機、WERNER and PFLEIDERER(商標)二軸混合機、またはBUSS(商標)混練連続押し出し機などの、連続的単一または二軸混合機が使用され得る。活用される混合機のタイプ及び混合機の操作条件は、粘度、体積抵抗、及び押し出された表面平滑度などの本組成物の特性に影響を与えるであろう。
一実施形態において、本発明は、ケーブル付属品である。一実施形態において、本発明は、スリーブまたは管の形態の常温収縮スプライスまたは終端器である。一実施形態において、本発明は、常温収縮スプライスである。一実施形態において、本発明は、組成物から作製された常温収縮スプライスであり、該組成物は、
(A)0.5〜30、または1〜20、または3〜10重量%のシラングラフト化エチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマー及びヒドロキシル末端ポリオルガノシロキサンのブレンドと、
(B)70以上、または70超〜95、または75〜90、または78〜85重量%のビニル末端シリコーンラバーと、
(C)0.001〜5、または0.005〜2、または0.1〜1重量%の架橋触媒と、
(D)0.5〜50、または1〜40、または5〜35重量%のエチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマーと、
(E)任意に、添加剤及び充填剤のうちの1つ以上と、を含む。
引き裂きダイBを、1メートル当たりのキロニュートン(kN/m)で報告し、ASTM D624タイプBにより、それを測定する。引き裂き試験を、毎分500ミリメートル(mm/分)の速度でINSTRON(商標)5565試験器上で実施する。
S=100(D−G)/G
式中、Sは、パーセントの伸び歪みであり、Dは、ゲージ印間の距離であり(事後設定)、Gは、ゲージ印間の元の距離か、または1.0インチ(25.4mm)である。
SILASATIC(商標)GP−30は、Dow Corningから入手可能なビニル末端過酸化物硬化性シリコーンラバーゴムである。
組成物を、80℃の温度に設定したHAAKE(商標)混合機内で調合する。混合時間は、毎分60回転(rpm)のロータ速度で10分である。プラークを、圧縮成型することにより作製し、170℃で10分間、圧縮機内で硬化する。組成物及び試験結果を、表で報告する。
Claims (11)
- 組成物であって、
(A)シラングラフト化エチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマー及びヒドロキシル末端ポリオルガノシロキサンのブレンドと、
(B)前記組成物の重量に基づいて、70重量パーセント(重量%)以上のビニル末端シリコーンラバーと、
(C)架橋触媒と、
(D)エチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマーと、
(E)任意に、添加剤及び充填剤のうちの1つ以上と、を含む、組成物。 - 前記シラングラフト化エチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマーが、シラングラフト化エチレン−プロピレンエラストマーである、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 前記ヒドロキシル末端ポリオルガノシロキサンが、ヒドロキシル末端ポリジメチルシロキサンである、請求項2に記載の組成物。
- 前記エチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマーが、エチレン−プロピレンエラストマー及びEPDMのうちの少なくとも1つである、請求項3に記載の組成物。
- (A)0.5〜30重量%の、シラングラフト化エチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマー及びヒドロキシル末端ポリオルガノシロキサンの前記ブレンドと、
(B)70超〜95重量%のビニル末端シリコーンラバーと、
(C)0.001〜5重量%の架橋触媒と、
(D)0.5〜50重量%のエチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマーと、を含む、請求項1に記載の組成物。 - 常温収縮物品を作製するための方法であって、
(1)均質な組成物であって、
(A)シラングラフト化エチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマー及びヒドロキシル末端ポリオルガノシロキサンのブレンドと、
(B)前記組成物の重量に基づいて、70重量パーセント以上のビニル末端シリコーンラバーと、
(C)架橋触媒と、
(D)エチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマーと、
(E)任意に、添加剤及び充填剤のうちの1つ以上と、を含む均質な組成物を形成するステップと、
(2)前記均質な組成物を成形物品に形成するステップと、
(3)前記成形物品を少なくとも部分的に硬化するステップと、
(4)前記少なくとも部分的に硬化された成形物品を脱気するステップと、
(5)前記硬化された成形物品を伸張させるステップと、
(6)機械的手段により、前記伸張、硬化された成形物品を伸張した状態に保持するステップと、を含む、方法。 - 前記均質な組成物が、70超〜95重量%のビニル末端シリコーンラバーを含む、請求項6に記載の方法。
- 組成物から作製された常温収縮物品であって、前記組成物が、
(A)シラングラフト化エチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマー及びヒドロキシル末端ポリオルガノシロキサンのブレンドと、
(B)前記組成物の重量に基づいて、70重量パーセント以上のビニル末端シリコーンラバーと、
(C)架橋触媒と、
(D)エチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマーと、
(E)任意に、添加剤及び充填剤のうちの1つ以上と、を含む、常温収縮物品。 - 前記組成物が、70超〜95重量%のビニル末端シリコーンラバーを含む、請求項8に記載の常温収縮物品。
- 成形、伸張及び硬化された組成物を含む常温収縮物品であって、前記組成物が、
(i)シラングラフト化エチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマー及びヒドロキシル末端ポリオルガノシロキサンのブレンドと、
(ii)前記組成物の重量に基づいて70重量パーセント(wt%)以上のビニル末端シリコーンラバーと、
(iii)エチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマーと
を含む、前記常温収縮物品。 - 外部層を有し、常温収縮スプライスを備えるケーブルであって、前記スプライスが、前記ケーブルの前記外部層の周りでまた前記外部層と接触して収縮し、かつ成形及び硬化された組成物を含み、前記組成物が、
(i)シラングラフト化エチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマー及びヒドロキシル末端ポリオルガノシロキサンのブレンドと、
(ii)前記組成物の重量に基づいて70重量パーセント(wt%)以上のビニル末端シリコーンラバーと、
(iii)エチレン−α−オレフィンエラストマーと
を含む、前記ケーブル。
