その全開示が本出願に参照により援用される、同一出願人によるBrowning他の特許文献5(以後、「Browning出願」)は、非侵襲的にSTLを行うためのトランスデューサが取付けられるヘッドセットを開示している。
1.ビームは、幅広い範囲を備えて特別に設計されることができる。例えば、ビームは、デフォーカス(defocus)されることができるが、これは、ROIにおける局所的な瞬間的なパワーを著しく減少させる。
2.(比較的狭い範囲を備える)ビームは、関心領域の周りをステップ走査されることができるが、1つの場所のビームは、隣接する場所の気泡を破壊する可能性があり、これは、気泡がROIを再び満たす一方で、はるかに長い治療時間を必要とし得る。

前記装置はさらに、前記超音波受信要素の2つ以上を基準として使用することによって、前記第2の超音波トランスデューサで、前記第1の超音波トランスデューサを位置合わせするように構成される、
