(7)表皮材の端末を基材に固着する方法としては、超音波溶着や熱溶着に限られず、基材または/および表皮材に予め付与した接着剤によって固着手段による押し付けにより接合してもよい。また、固着手段は、各コーナー処理部に夫々設けてもよく、複数のコーナー処理部で1つの固着手段を共用してもよい。また、一般処理部において、接合手段としてコーナー処理部の固着手段を共用してもよい。
(8)図7に示すように、固着手段として針42を打込むタッカーを採用してもよい。この場合、前記巻き込み手段32には、前記巻き込み位置において基材12の裏面12bに対向する位置に、タッカーの針42を打ち出す固着部40を差し込み可能な固着孔36が貫通形成される。タッカーは、固着孔36を通した前記固着部40から、表皮材16のコーナー端末18を介して基材12に針42を打込む。これにより、針42における2つの針部42a,42aを接続する頭部42bと基材12とによりコーナー端末18が挟み込まれ、該端末18が基材12の裏面12bにタッカー止めされる。この際、巻き込み手段32で基材12の裏面に沿うよう折り返されて前記保持部34で保持されたコーナー端末18を、固着孔36を通して基材12にタッカー止めするので、コーナー端末18が弛むことを防止でき、基材12の凸状コーナー端縁14に巻き付けた表皮材16の仕上がりをきれいにすることができる。また、タッカーにより、前記頭部42bが互いに平行となる向きで複数の針42を基材12へ打込んだり、該頭部42bが互いに交差する向きで複数の針42を基材12へ打込んだりしてもよい。なお、針の形状は略コ字型に限られず、例えば、鋲のような形状であってもよい。
(9)実施例では、表層部と裏層部とを有する積層構造の表皮材を例に挙げて説明したが、裏層部のない表皮材であってもよい。また実施例では、表皮材の端末における凸状コーナー端縁を覆う部分を伸長させたが、該端末の凸状コーナー端縁を覆う部分をしわがないよう張った状態とすればよい。すなわち、本発明における「伸びた状態」とは、しわがないよう張った状態も含んでいる。
