Description

The present invention relates to a coating apparatus that coats a sheet material with a coating liquid.

Conventionally, as disclosed in Patent Document 1, a general coating apparatus is a coating chamber having a plate cylinder having a large number of fine cells on the outer peripheral surface and a liquid reservoir for storing a coating liquid. And rotating the plate cylinder to cause the coating liquid in the liquid reservoir to adhere to the outer peripheral surface of the plate cylinder while circulating the coating liquid in the liquid reservoir in the coating liquid circulation device. The coating liquid in the cell is transferred to the sheet material by bringing the outer peripheral surface of the plate cylinder from which the extra coating liquid adhering to other than the cells has been removed with a doctor blade into contact with the sheet material.

The liquid reservoir of the coating apparatus has a lower portion filled with a coating solution, while an upper portion is an air layer, and the blade tip of the doctor blade is in contact with the outer peripheral surface of the plate cylinder. In the state, it is configured to be constantly exposed to the air layer of the liquid reservoir.

1)Japanese Patent No. 4171223 (paragraphs 0011 to 0016, FIG. 1)

By the way, the coating apparatus has a problem that, when bubbles are mixed in the cells of the plate cylinder, uneven coating occurs when the coating liquid is transferred to the sheet material.

Therefore, it is necessary to eliminate bubbles in the cell before transferring the coating liquid to the sheet material. In many coating apparatuses, the cell is immersed in the coating liquid in the liquid reservoir while rotating the plate cylinder. It is thought that the air bubbles in the cell and the coating liquid are sequentially replaced in the middle of the process, and the doctor blade only removes the extra coating liquid adhering to the area other than the cell. It was thought.

On the other hand, the inventors of the present invention sequentially replace the bubbles in the cell and the coating liquid in the middle of the step of immersing the cell in the coating liquid in the liquid reservoir while rotating the plate cylinder. In addition to this, research was conducted focusing on whether cells located around the blade tip of the doctor blade could be used to replace the bubbles in the cell with the coating liquid. That is, the examination was conducted from the viewpoint of whether the replacement of the bubbles and the coating liquid in the cell could be promoted when the cell passed through the blade tip of the doctor blade or just before passing.

The inventors fundamentally reviewed the idea of exposing the blade tip of the doctor blade to the air layer as in Patent Document 1, and increased the flow rate of the coating liquid circulating in the liquid reservoir to apply the coating in the liquid reservoir. It was filled with the working liquid, and it was tried to always immerse the tip of the doctor blade in the coating liquid in the liquid reservoir. Then, the pressure around the blade tip of the doctor blade increased, and the knowledge that the replacement of the bubbles in the cell and the coating liquid around the blade tip of the doctor blade was promoted was obtained.

However, in the above-described configuration, the pressure in the liquid reservoir is excessively high, and there is a concern that the coating liquid may leak from the seal portion between the outer peripheral surface of the plate cylinder and the peripheral edge of the liquid reservoir opening. Also, if the flow rate of the coating liquid increases and the inside of the liquid reservoir and the discharge passage are filled, the pressure in the liquid reservoir will drop due to the siphon phenomenon, and the inside of the liquid reservoir will not be maintained at a high pressure state. In some cases, it becomes impossible to promote the replacement of the bubbles in the cell with the coating liquid.

In other words, the present inventors have understood that simply increasing the flow rate of the coating liquid circulating in the liquid reservoir and increasing the pressure in the liquid reservoir will not work.

The present invention has been made in view of such a point, and the object of the present invention is to prevent the leakage of the coating liquid from between the plate cylinder and the coating chamber, and to prevent bubbles in the cell. An object of the present invention is to provide a coating apparatus that can promote replacement with a coating liquid, eliminates bubbles in the cell, and enables coating on a high-quality sheet material.

The present invention relates to a coating apparatus. The coating apparatus includes a plate cylinder having a large number of fine cells on the outer peripheral surface, a pressure cylinder for pressing a sheet material onto the plate cylinder, and a liquid reservoir for storing a coating liquid. The tank 81, the first pump 82, the second pump 83, the first supply pipe 84, the second supply pipe 85, the first discharge pipe 86, and the second discharge pipe 87 are used as a coating liquid circulation device (coating liquid circulation). 8), and the coating liquid circulation device 8 has a sliding contact portion between the blade tip of the doctor blade 6 and the outer peripheral surface 2a of the plate cylinder 2 in the second liquid reservoir 40b. The sliding contact portion between the plate tip of the inner plate 7 and the outer peripheral surface 2a of the plate cylinder 2 is always immersed in the coating liquid L in the first liquid reservoir 40a so as to be constantly immersed in the working liquid L. As described above, the coating liquid L stored in the first liquid reservoir 40a and the second liquid reservoir 40b is transferred to the first inflow passage 41, the first outflow passage 42, the second inflow passage 44, and the second outflow passage. It is circulated through the passage 43.

Therefore, since the coating liquid L in the first liquid reservoir 40a and the second liquid reservoir 40b is always open to the atmosphere, the coating liquid that circulates in the first liquid reservoir 40a and the second liquid reservoir 40b. Even if the flow rate of L is increased, the overall pressure in the first liquid reservoir 40a and the second liquid reservoir 40b does not increase too much, and the outer peripheral surface 2a of the plate cylinder 2 and the first liquid reservoir 40a and The coating liquid L is prevented from leaking from the seal portion between the opening periphery of the second liquid reservoir 40b and the siphon phenomenon is prevented from occurring, so that the periphery of the blade tip of the doctor blade 6 and the plate tip periphery of the inner plate 7 are prevented. The high pressure state can be maintained, and the replacement of the bubbles with the coating liquid L can be promoted.

Further, since the end portion on the tank 81 side in the first discharge pipe 86 and the second discharge pipe 87 is immersed in the coating liquid L in the tank 81, the coating liquid L is in the first discharge pipe 86 and the second discharge pipe 86. It is possible to prevent entrainment of bubbles caused when the discharge pipe 87 falls from the end on the tank 81 side to the liquid surface of the coating liquid L in the tank 81.

The coating liquid circulation device 8 circulates the coating liquid L so that the entire region of the second liquid reservoir 40b is filled, and circulates the second liquid reservoir 40b. The liquid level L1 is located in a portion extending in the horizontal direction of the first discharge pipe 86 above the blade tip of the doctor blade 6.

Further, the coating liquid circulation device 8 circulates the coating liquid L so that the entire region of the first liquid reservoir 40a is filled, and circulates the first liquid reservoir 40a. The liquid level L2 is located in a portion extending in the horizontal direction of the second discharge pipe 87 above the tip of the inner plate 7.

Therefore, there is no air layer in the first liquid reservoir 40a and the second liquid reservoir 40b, and the liquid reservoir 40 is caused by vibration during the operation of the coating apparatus 1 or the diffusion action of the coating liquid L due to the rotation of the plate cylinder 2. Since the liquid surface of the coating liquid L in the inner surface does not undulate, the mixing of bubbles into the coating liquid L caused by the undulation of the liquid surface of the coating liquid L is prevented, and the mixing of bubbles into the cell 2b is prevented. Can be prevented.

Then, when the coating cylinder 2 is rotated while the coating liquid circulation device 8 is circulating the coating liquid L stored in the first liquid reservoir 40a and the second liquid reservoir 40b, the inner The coating liquid L adhered at the first liquid reservoir 40a when the plate tip of the plate 7 is in sliding contact with the outer peripheral surface 2a of the plate cylinder 2 and the plate cylinder 2 passes through the plate tip of the inner plate 7 is provided. Is scraped off so as not to adhere to other than the cell 2b, and the blade tip of the doctor blade 6 is in sliding contact with the outer peripheral surface 2a of the plate cylinder 2, so that the plate cylinder 2 passes through the blade tip of the doctor blade 6. In doing so, the coating liquid L adhering to the second liquid reservoir 40b is scraped off so as not to adhere to other than the cells 2b.

Next, the flow of the coating liquid L in the coating apparatus 1 will be described.

First, the first pump 82 and the second pump 83 of the coating liquid circulation device 8 are operated, and the plate cylinder 2 is rotated.

Then, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 3, the coating liquid L in the tank 81 is first pumped up by the first pump 82 and passes through the first supply pipe 84 and the first inflow passage 41 to form the first liquid reservoir. Flows into the portion 40a. At this time, the first pump 82 supplies the coating liquid L so that the entire region of the first liquid reservoir 40a is filled.

The coating liquid L that has flowed into the first liquid reservoir 40a changes its path upward along the outer peripheral surface 2a as indicated by an arrow X1, and is rotated along with the rotation of the plate cylinder 2 toward the inner plate 7. Flowing. In this way, the coating liquid L in the first liquid reservoir 40a flows along with the rotation of the plate cylinder 2 toward the inner plate 7 that is always immersed in the coating liquid L in the first liquid reservoir 40a. Therefore, the pressure distribution of the coating liquid L in the first liquid reservoir 40a is highest at the periphery A portion of the inner plate 7 tip. Therefore, when the cell 2b passes through the plate tip of the inner plate 7, even if the cell 2b contains bubbles, the high-pressure coating liquid L around the portion A and the bubbles contained in the cell 2b Effective replacement is achieved, and coating unevenness can be prevented when the coating liquid L is transferred to the sheet material 10.

Then, the coating liquid L that flows upward through the first liquid reservoir 40a as indicated by the arrow X1 flows along the inner plate 7 as indicated by the arrow X2, and thus toward the second outflow passage 43. The course is changed and returns to the tank 81 through the second discharge pipe 87.

Next, the coating liquid L in the tank 81 is pumped up by the second pump 83 and flows into the second liquid reservoir 40 b through the second supply pipe 85 and the second inflow passage 44. At this time, the second pump 83 supplies the coating liquid L so that the entire area of the second liquid reservoir 40b is filled.

The coating liquid L that has flowed into the second liquid reservoir 40b changes its course upward along the outer peripheral surface 2a while contacting the outer peripheral surface 2a of the plate cylinder 2 as indicated by an arrow Y1, thereby rotating the plate cylinder 2 Is flown toward the doctor blade 6. In this way, the coating liquid L in the second liquid reservoir 40b flows along with the rotation of the plate cylinder 2 toward the doctor blade 6 that is always immersed in the coating liquid L in the second liquid reservoir 40b. Therefore, the pressure distribution of the coating liquid L in the second liquid reservoir 40b is highest at the periphery B of the distal end of the doctor blade 6. Therefore, when the cell 2b passes through the blade tip of the doctor blade 6, even if bubbles are included in the cell 2b, the coating liquid L in the high-pressure state around the portion B and the bubbles included in the cell 2b Is effectively replaced, and coating unevenness can be prevented when the coating liquid L is transferred to the sheet material 10.

The coating liquid L flowing toward the doctor blade 6 flows in a direction away from the plate cylinder 2 along the upper surface of the second liquid reservoir 40b as indicated by an arrow Y2, and flows along the second liquid reservoir. The flow is divided into a flow of an arrow Y3 flowing downward along the side surface of 40b and a flow of an arrow Y4 flowing upward along the side surface of the second liquid reservoir 40b.

The coating liquid L flowing as indicated by the arrow Y3 joins the flow indicated by the arrow Y1 and flows again toward the doctor blade 6.

On the other hand, the coating liquid L flowing as indicated by the arrow Y4 draws a circular arc along the curved surface of the inclined passage 40c and is guided by the inclined passage 40c as indicated by the arrow Y5 shown in FIG. It moves toward the outflow port 42a of 42. Accordingly, the coating liquid L at the upper part of the second liquid reservoir 40b is guided to the inclined passage 40c and flows toward the outlet 42a, and the air bubbles accumulated at the upper part of the second liquid reservoir 40b are associated with the inclined passage 40a. Since it moves toward the outlet 42a together with the coating liquid L guided by 40c, the air bubbles accumulated in the upper part of the second liquid reservoir 40b are efficiently discharged from the first outflow passage 42 without accumulating in the upper part of the liquid reservoir 40. can do.

Further, since the coating liquid L in the upper part of the second liquid reservoir 40b moves toward the outlet 42a while drawing an arc trajectory along the curved surface of the inclined passage 40c, the inclined passage of the coating liquid L The flow moving through the inside of 40c becomes smooth, and the bubbles accumulated in the upper part of the second liquid reservoir 40b can be efficiently guided to the first outflow passage 42.

Furthermore, the substantially arc-shaped flow of the coating liquid L indicated by the arrow Y4 is difficult to merge with the flow of the coating liquid L indicated by the arrows Y2 and Y3, and once the bubbles get on the flow of the coating liquid L indicated by the arrow Y4, Since it becomes difficult for the bubbles to ride the flow of the coating liquid L indicated by the arrows Y2 and Y3, it is possible to prevent the bubbles located in the inclined passage 40c from moving again toward the vicinity of the cell 2b in the second liquid reservoir 40b.

Then, the coating liquid L that has reached the connection portion of the first outflow passage 42 to the inclined passage 40c flows along the first outflow passage 42 and the first discharge pipe 86 as indicated by the arrow Y6, and enters the tank 81. Return. Since each of the outlets 42 a is located outside the end in the width direction of the sheet material 10, the periphery of the outlet 42 a where the flow of the coating liquid L is easily disturbed is the sheet material 10 on the outer peripheral surface 2 a of the plate cylinder 2. It will come off the part corresponding to. Therefore, coating on the sheet material 10 can be performed on the outer peripheral surface 2a of the plate cylinder 2 to which the coating liquid L without disturbance is adhered, and the coating on the sheet material 10 can be stabilized.

In the embodiment of the present invention, a pair of inclined passages 40c are provided from the middle part in the plate cylinder rotation axis direction toward both ends in the plate cylinder rotation axis direction, but it is only necessary to be provided in at least one direction.

In the embodiment of the present invention, a pair of outlets 42a connected to the inclined passage 40c and a pair of outlets 43a connected to the first liquid reservoir 40a are provided. However, one or more outlets may be provided. . Furthermore, although the said inlet 41a, 44a is provided one each, you may make it provide multiple each.

The seal plate 5 and the inner plate 7 are made of resin, but may be made of other materials, for example, stainless steel or rubber. Moreover, you may use what gave the ceramic coat | court to the metal.

The doctor blade 6 is made of stainless steel, but may be made of other materials, for example, iron, resin, or rubber. Moreover, you may use what gave the ceramic coat | court to the metal.

Further, the inner plate 7 is preferably made of a material softer than the seal plate 5 and the doctor blade 6. As a result, it is possible to prevent the seal plate 5 and the doctor blade 6 and the plate cylinder 2 from being spread by the reaction force of the inner plate 7 that presses against the plate cylinder 2, thereby reducing the sealing performance.

Further, in the embodiment of the present invention has is always open to the atmosphere by the communication unit 86a a coating liquid L of the second liquid reservoir 40b, may be allowed to open at all times the atmosphere at other locations, for example, The end of the first discharge pipe 86 on the tank 81 side may not be immersed in the coating liquid L in the tank 81, an opening is provided in the upper part of the coating chamber 4, and the outlet 42a is The coating liquid L in the second liquid reservoir 40b may be opened to the atmosphere so as to be connected from the side of the second liquid reservoir 40b.

Further, in the embodiment of the present invention, the coating liquid L in the first liquid reservoir 40a is always open to the atmosphere by the communication portion 87a, but may be always open to the atmosphere at other locations, for example, The end of the second discharge pipe 87 on the tank 81 side may not be immersed in the coating liquid L in the tank 81.

In the embodiment of the present invention, the outflow port 42a is connected from the upper side of the inclined passage 40c. However, the outlet 42a may be connected from the side of the inclined passage 40c.

In the embodiment of the present invention, the second pump 83 is provided. However, the second pump 83 is not provided, and the first supply pipe 84 is branched to the first inflow passage 41 and the second inflow passage 44. You may make it connect.

In the embodiment of the present invention, the inner plate 7 is provided, but a structure without the inner plate 7 may be employed. Accordingly, the second inflow passage 44, the second outflow passage 43, the second supply pipe 85, the second discharge pipe 87, and the second pump 83 may be omitted.

In the embodiment of the present invention, the coating liquid L is supplied from one tank 81 to the liquid reservoir 40, but two tanks corresponding to the first pump 82 and the second pump 83 are prepared. May be.

In the embodiment of the present invention, the type in which the plate cylinder 2 rotates along the moving direction of the sheet material 10 has been described. However, the type in which the plate cylinder 2 rotates in the opposite direction to the moving direction of the sheet material 10. Is also applicable. Furthermore, even the coating apparatus 1 having a structure without the impression cylinder 3 can be applied.

In the embodiment of the present invention, it is assumed that the plate cylinder 2 has an outer diameter of 30 mm to 250 mm and a width of 100 mm to 3000 mm, but may have other dimensions.

In the embodiment of the present invention, it is assumed that the coating chamber 4 has a width of 160 mm to 3000 mm, a height of 100 mm to 400 mm, a depth of 40 mm to 80 mm, and an upper surface tilt angle of 0 ° to 10 °. However, other dimensions may be used. In particular, the inclination angle of the upper surface of the coating chamber 4 is preferably 0.2 ° to 3.6 °.
