Description
The present invention relates to an elastomer and a transducer element using the elastomer.
Various transducer elements have been developed, such as an actuator that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy, a generator that converts mechanical energy into electrical energy, and a sensor. This transducer element is formed by, for example, laminating a pair of electrodes on both sides of a layer made of a dielectric, and this dielectric is an elastomer that is a polymer material from the viewpoint of enhancing the flexibility and lightness of the transducer element. Are preferably used. In order to improve the performance of such transducer elements such as maximum deformation rate, responsiveness, energy efficiency, power consumption, deformation accuracy, durability, etc., this elastomer has a high dielectric breakdown voltage, low hardness, high dielectric constant. It is required to have various properties such as a ratio, a low tan δ, and a high volume resistivity.
As a technology to improve the above performance of the transducer element, there is a method in which pre-strain (pre-strain) is added to the elastomer, and then fixed to the frame in that state, and the pre-strain state is set to the zero point and electricity is applied from there. It is known (see Japanese translations of PCT publication No. 2003-506858). According to this method, an increase in dielectric breakdown voltage, a decrease in tan δ, and an increase in volume resistivity occur in the elastomer, thereby improving the deformation performance of the transducer element. However, this method requires a frame to be held in a prestrain state, and since it is used in a state where a large load is applied to the elastomer, the durability is lowered, and further, the process of adding prestrain is complicated. There are various inconveniences such as difficulty in mass production.
In order to eliminate such inconvenience, a technique for improving the deformation performance of the transducer element by improving the physical properties of the elastomer without performing a prestrain treatment has been studied. Polyrotaxane having a specific Young's modulus characteristic, etc. A method of using an elastomer containing it is known (Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 2009-124875). However, the above conventional elastomers cannot achieve both high dielectric breakdown voltage and low hardness, and as a result, performance such as deformation performance of the transducer element is still insufficient.
The present invention has been made on the basis of the above circumstances, and an object of the present invention is to provide an elastomer that has a high dielectric breakdown voltage even at low hardness, and thus enables high deformation performance of the transducer element without prestrain treatment. [Examples 12 and 13 and Comparative Examples 10 to 14]
A 50 μm-thick film was formed on a PET film using the types of elastomers shown in Table 2 below, and two sheets were adhered to obtain a sheet body 11 made of an elastomer having a thickness of 100 μm.
<Evaluation>
About the produced transducer element, each following evaluation as an actuator and a generator was performed according to the following method. The evaluation results are shown in Table 2.
[Actuator]
(Maximum deformation rate)
The applied voltage was gradually increased with respect to the diaphragm type transducer element, and the deformation rate immediately before dielectric breakdown occurred was defined as the maximum deformation rate.
The applied voltage was measured with an oscilloscope using a high voltage probe (manufactured by Tektronix). The current was obtained by putting an appropriate resistance in the ground electrode and measuring the voltage across it. Whether or not the breakdown of the transducer element is a dielectric breakdown was determined by measuring a phenomenon in which a current of 1 mA or more suddenly flows at the time of breakdown and the voltage rapidly decreases at the same time.
(Area ratio)
The maximum deformation ratio expressed in area ratio was determined as follows.
A weight (approximately 50 to 200 g, depending on the elastic modulus of the elastomer) was suspended so that the central frame portion of the transducer element was depressed 10 mm from the zero point. When the voltage to be applied is gradually increased, the sheet 11 is compressed by the electrostatic attractive force between the electrodes and extends in the surface direction, and the area of the movable part of the transducer element increases, so that the central frame part is lowered downward. The displacement of the central frame immediately before dielectric breakdown occurs is measured with a laser displacement meter 13 (IL-100, manufactured by Keyence) from above, and the area of the operating part (corresponding to the side area of the trapezoidal cone) from the measured displacement amount Was calculated, and the area increase rate from the initial area (the area in the state where the central frame portion was submerged 10 mm from the zero point) was determined, and this was defined as the maximum deformation rate (area ratio) (%).
(Compression rate)
The maximum deformation rate expressed in terms of compression rate is determined assuming that there is no change in the volume of the elastomer, and the thickness of the elastomer at the time of maximum deformation is obtained. In this state, the initial thickness (in the state where the central frame portion is submerged 10 mm from the zero point) It was calculated as a reduction rate from (thickness).
(Dielectric breakdown voltage)
The voltage (kV) at which the transducer element was broken by dielectric breakdown was measured. The value obtained by dividing the measured value of the broken voltage by the thickness (mm) of the elastomer at that time calculated from the maximum deformation rate (compression rate) was taken as the dielectric breakdown voltage (kV / mm) of the transducer element.
(Deformation start voltage)
The electric field strength (kV / mm) when the deformation rate (area ratio) was 1% was defined as the deformation start voltage.
[generator]
(Generated energy)
The center of the central frame portion of the diaphragm type transducer element was connected to the ROBO Cylinder and displaced so that the area of the ring-shaped operation portion was 1.4 times to increase the capacitance. Next, after charging by applying a voltage, the displacement was returned to the original state, and the electrostatic capacity was reduced to increase the voltage. The voltage and current (electricity) at the time of input (charging) and output (discharging) in these operations were measured.
From the measured voltage and the amount of electricity, the input energy and the output energy are calculated according to the relationship of energy (J) = 1/2 × the amount of electricity (C) × the voltage (V),
From the relationship of generated energy (J) = output energy (J) −input energy (J), the generated energy of the transducer element as a generator was obtained.
Measurement was performed by changing the voltage at the time of input in increments of 100 V, and the value of the generated energy at the optimum applied voltage was determined for each elastomer.
“X” in Table 2 indicates that the output energy is smaller than the input energy, and no power is generated.
As can be seen from the results in Table 2, the transducer element of the example can exhibit high deformation performance when used as an actuator, and can obtain high generated energy when used as a generator. In the transducer element of Example 13, by using an elastomer containing an inorganic filler (barium titanate), the dielectric constant can be increased, and the oil content can be reduced while maintaining high deformation performance. It is said.
The elastomer of the present invention has a high dielectric breakdown voltage even if it has a low hardness.
