Description
[1]下記式(1)で表される構造を有する金属複合体。
(式(1)中、Ar1及びAr2は、それぞれ独立に、ヘテロ原子を含んでいてもよく、かつ置換基を有していてもよい単環式芳香族基を表す。yは、1又は2である。A2は、直接結合、−O−で表される基、−S−で表される基、−N(R1)−で表される基、−Si(R2)(R3)−で表される基、又は−C(R4)(R5)−で表される基であり、yが1である場合、A1は−O−で表される基、−S−で表される基、−N(R1)−で表される基、−Si(R2)(R3)−で表される基、又は−C(R4)(R5)−で表される基を表す。yが2である場合、A1はSi又はCである。R1、R2、R3、R4及びR5は、それぞれ独立に、水素原子、置換基を有していてもよいヒドロカルビル基、又は置換基を有していてもよいヘテロシクリル基を表し、R2とR3とは互いに結合して環を形成していてもよい。R4とR5とは互いに結合して環を形成していてもよい。mは、1以上の整数である。nは、0以上の整数である。Z1は、Ar1に直接結合している窒素原子、リン原子、ヒ素原子又はアンチモン原子を表す。Z2は、Ar2に直接結合している窒素原子、リン原子、ヒ素原子又はアンチモン原子を表す。R6、R7、R8及びR9は、それぞれ独立に、水素原子、置換基を有していてもよいヒドロカルビル基、又は置換基を有していてもよいヘテロシクリル基を表し、R6とR7とは互いに結合して環を形成していてもよい。R8とR9とは互いに結合して環を形成していてもよい。M1及びM2は、それぞれ独立に、金属原子又は金属イオンを表す。L1及びL2は、それぞれ独立に、配位子を表す。a及びbは、それぞれ独立に、0以上の整数を表す。X1及びX2は、それぞれ独立に、置換基を有していてもよいアルキル基、置換基を有していてもよいアルケニル基、置換基を有していてもよいアルキニル基、置換基を有していてもよいアリール基、置換基を有していてもよいヘテロシクリル基、又は対イオンを表す。X1とX2とは、互いに結合していてもよい。)
[2]前記yが1である、[1]に記載の金属複合体。
[3]前記Ar1がチオフェン環から水素原子を(2+m)個取り除いた単環式芳香族基であり、前記Ar2がチオフェン環から水素原子を(2+n)個取り除いた単環式芳香族基である、[1]又は[2]に記載の金属複合体。
[4]前記A1が−Si(R2)(R3)−で表される基であり、かつ前記A2が直接結合である、[1]〜[3]のいずれか1つに記載の金属複合体。
[5]前記Z1及び前記Z2が、リン原子である、[1]〜[4]のいずれか1つに記載の金属複合体。
[6]前記M1及び前記M2が、それぞれ独立に、銅、銀及び金からなる群から選ばれる金属原子又はその金属イオンである、[1]〜[5]のいずれか1つに記載の金属複合体。
[7]前記X1及びX2が、それぞれ独立に、対イオンである、[1]〜[6]のいずれか1つに記載の金属複合体。
[8][1]〜[7]のいずれか1つに記載の金属複合体を含む層を有する発光素子。
置換基の例としては、ハロゲン原子、シアノ基、ヒドロキシル基、メルカプト基、カルボキシル基、スルホ基、リン酸基、亜リン酸基、ニトロ基、炭素原子数が1〜30のヒドロカルビル基、炭素原子数が1〜30のヒドロカルビルオキシ基、炭素原子数が1〜30のヒドロカルビルチオ基、炭素原子数が1〜30の置換シリル基が挙げられる。これらの置換基の中でも、ハロゲン原子、炭素原子数が1〜18のヒドロカルビル基、炭素原子数が1〜18のヒドロカルビルオキシ基、炭素原子数が1〜18のヒドロカルビルチオ基、炭素原子数が1〜18の置換シリル基が好ましく、炭素原子数が1〜12のヒドロカルビル基、炭素原子数が1〜12のヒドロカルビルオキシ基、炭素原子数が1〜12のヒドロカルビルチオ基、炭素原子数が1〜12の置換シリル基がより好ましく、炭素原子数が1〜12のヒドロカルビル基、炭素原子数が1〜12のヒドロカルビルオキシ基が更に好ましい。ヒドロカルビル基、ヒドロカルビルオキシ基及びヒドロカルビルチオ基はそれぞれ、直鎖状、分岐鎖状、又は環状のいずれであってもよい。
Ar1及びAr2を構成する環は、それぞれ、好ましくはA1に結合する原子が炭素原子であり、かつ、A2に結合する原子が炭素原子である。
A2は、直接結合、−O−で表される基、−S−で表される基、−N(R1)−で表される基、−Si(R2)(R3)−で表される基、又は−C(R4)(R5)−で表される基であり、好ましくは、直接結合、−O−で表される基、又は−S−で表される基であり、より好ましくは直接結合である。
ヒドロカルビル基及びヘテロシクリル基の具体例、好ましい例は上記R1、R2、R3及びR4における具体例、好ましい例と同じである。
式(A−1)〜式(A−18)で表される金属複合体のうち、式(A−1)〜式(A−12)、及び式(A−18)で表される金属複合体が好ましく、式(A−1)〜式(A−6)で表される金属複合体がより好ましく、式(A−1)〜式(A−3)で表される金属複合体が更に好ましい。
前記式(1)で表される構造が分子内に組み込まれた化合物は、電荷輸送材料として好適に用いることができる。前記式(1)で表される構造が分子内に組み込まれた化合物であって、電荷輸送材料として用いられる化合物は、共役系であることが、共役が広がりキャリア(電子又は正孔)移動度が高くなるので好ましい。
a)陽極/(電荷注入層)/発光層/(電荷注入層)/陰極
b)陽極/(電荷注入層)/正孔輸送層/発光層/(電荷注入層)/陰極
c)陽極/(電荷注入層)/発光層/電子輸送層/(電荷注入層)/陰極
d)陽極/(電荷注入層)/正孔輸送層/発光層/電子輸送層/(電荷注入層)/陰極
発光素子の発光層は、電界印加時に陽極又は正孔注入層より正孔を注入することができ、陰極又は電子注入層より電子を注入することができる機能、注入した電荷(電子及び正孔)を電界の力で移動させる機能、電子と正孔との再結合の場を提供し、これを発光につなげる機能を有するものである。発光素子の発光層は、上記金属複合体を含有することが好ましく、この金属複合体をゲスト材料とするホスト材料を含有していてもよい。
上記正孔輸送層の材料の例としては、特開昭63−70257号公報、特開昭63−175860号公報、特開平2−135359号公報、特開平2−135361号公報、特開平2−209988号公報、特開平3−37992号公報、特開平3−152184号公報に記載されている化合物が挙げられる。正孔輸送層に用いる材料の例としては、ポリビニルカルバゾール及びその誘導体、ポリシラン及びその誘導体、側鎖又は主鎖に芳香族アミン化合物基を有するポリシロキサン誘導体、ピラゾリン誘導体、アリールアミン誘導体、スチルベン誘導体、ポリアニリン及びその誘導体、ポリアミノフェン及びその誘導体、ポリピロール及びその誘導体、ポリ(p−フェニレンビニレン)及びその誘導体、並びにポリ(2,5−チエニレンビニレン)及びその誘導体も挙げられる。
電子輸送層の材料の例としては、特開昭63−70257号公報、特開昭63−175860号公報、特開平2−135359号公報、特開平2−135361号公報、特開平2−209988号公報、特開平3−37992号公報、特開平3−152184号公報に記載されている化合物が挙げられる。電子輸送層に用いる材料の例としては、オキサジアゾール誘導体、アントラキノジメタン及びその誘導体、ベンゾキノン及びその誘導体、ナフトキノン及びその誘導体、アントラキノン及びその誘導体、テトラシアノアントラキノジメタン及びその誘導体、フルオレノン誘導体、ジフェニルジシアノエチレン及びその誘導体、ジフェノキノン誘導体、8−ヒドロキシキノリン及びその誘導体の金属錯体、ポリキノリン及びその誘導体、ポリキノキサリン及びその誘導体、並びにポリフルオレン及びその誘導体も挙げられる。
発光素子は、通常、基板を用いて形成される。基板の厚み方向に対向する一方の面には電極及び発光素子の各層が形成され、基板寄りの側から採光する場合には基板の他方の面が光の出射面となる。基板には、陽極及び陰極のうちの一方が接合するように設けることができる。基板は電極及び素子の各層を形成する際に化学的に変化しないものであればよい。基板の例としては、ガラス基板、プラスチック基板、高分子フィルム、シリコン基板が挙げられる。この基板が不透明である場合には、基板の厚み方向についてこの基板とは反対側に配置された電極が透明又は半透明とされる。
通常、陽極及び陰極のうちの採光側の電極は、透明又は半透明とされる。陽極が透明又は半透明であることが好ましい。
これらの材料のうち、陽極の材料としては、ITO、IZO及び酸化スズが好ましい。また、陽極として、ポリアニリン及びその誘導体、並びに、ポリアミノフェン及びその誘導体等の有機の透明導電膜を用いてもよい。
発光素子には、素子を外部環境から保護して長期的かつ安定的に使用するために、素子形成後に、素子を保護する保護層及び/又は保護カバーを設けてもよい。
電荷注入層の例としては、導電性高分子を含む層、電荷注入層を陽極と正孔輸送層との間に設ける場合には陽極材料と正孔輸送層に含まれる正孔輸送材料との中間の値のイオン化ポテンシャルを有する材料を含む層、及び電荷注入層を陰極と電子輸送層との間に設ける場合には陰極材料と電子輸送層に含まれる電子輸送材料との中間の値の電子親和力を有する材料を含む層が挙げられる。
MSスペクトルは、SHIMADZU−GCMS−QP5050Aを用いて測定した。
FAB−MSは、日本電子製SX102A型二重収束質量分析計を用いて測定した。
薄層クロマトグラフィー(以下、TLCと略記する場合がある。)は、シリカゲルを担体として用いた。
発光スペクトルは、励起波長を380nmとして、蛍光分光光度計(日本分光株式会社製、商品名:FP−6500)により測定した。
励起寿命は、蛍光分光光度計(JOBINYVON−SPEX社製、商品名:Fluorolog−Tau3)により、発光スペクトルの発光ピーク波長における励起寿命を求めた。
イオン化ポテンシャルは、理研計器株式会社製のAC2を用いて測定した。
発光量子収率は、浜松ホトニクス社製マルチチャンネルアナライザC7473が装着された積分球を用いて測定した。
全ての合成反応は窒素気流下にて行った。

[1,1−ビス(p−ブチルフェニル)−3,6−ビス(ジフェニルホスフィノ)ジチエノシロール]−塩化金:金属複合体(A−1)の合成は、下記反応式に従って行った。

Found:C,48.04;H,3.44.
金属複合体(A−1)は、固体状態では波長440nm付近に発光ピークを示し、クロロホルム中では波長430nm付近に発光ピークを示した。金属複合体(A−1)の発光励起寿命はクロロホルム中で3.2nsであった。金属複合体(A−1)のイオン化ポテンシャルは5.93eVであった。
<[1,1−ジフェニル−3,6−ビス(ジフェニルホスフィノ)ジチエノシロール]−塩化金(A−2)の合成例>
[1,1−ジフェニル−3,6−ビス(ジフェニルホスフィノ)ジチエノシロール]−塩化金(A−2)の合成は、下記反応式に従って行った。
金属複合体(A−2)は、固体状態では波長430nm付近に発光ピークを示し、クロロホルム中では波長430nm付近に発光ピークを示した。

- 前記A1が−Si(R2)(R3)−で表される基である、請求項1に記載の金属複合体。
- 請求項1又は2に記載の金属複合体を含む層を有する発光素子。
