Description
(1) 椎体と椎体との間に挿入して使用される椎体スペーサであって、
第1の面と、第2の面と、第3の面と、第4の面と、第5の面とを備え、湾曲凸面からなる前記第1の面が前記椎体と当接する一方の当接面を構成し、湾曲凸面からなる前記第2の面が前記椎体と当接する他方の当接面を構成し、前記第3の面により椎間に内側の空間を画成し、前記第4の面により椎間に外側の空間を画成し、前記第1の面および前記第2の面の腹側の端部において互いに接合し、前記第1の面および前記第2の面の背側の端部において前記第5の面を介して互いに接合する、チタンまたはチタン合金を主材料として構成されるブロック体を少なくとも1つ有し、
該ブロック体は、枠状の緻密部と、該緻密部の内側に設けられ、少なくとも表面の空孔率が、前記緻密部の空孔率よりも大きい多孔部とを有し、
前記緻密部は、前記第1の面の平面視形状に対応する形状を備える前記椎体の一方に当接する第1の枠状部と、前記第2の面の平面視形状に対応する形状を備える他方の前記椎体に当接する第2の枠状部と、前記第1の面および前記第2の面の腹側の端部において互いに接合する接合部において、前記第1の枠状部と前記第2の枠状部とを連結し、支柱として機能する連結部とを備えることを特徴とする椎体スペーサ。
これにより、ブロック体の全体形状を規定するように緻密部が形成される。
これにより、多孔部の椎体との骨癒合をより早期に生じさせ得る。
<第1実施形態>
まず、本発明の椎体スペーサの第1実施形態について説明する。
以上説明したようなスペーサ1は、例えば、次のようにして製造することができる。
かかる枠状緻密体は、例えば、チタン系材料で構成されるシート状緻密体を用意し、このシート状緻密体を、レーザーカット、ウォータージェット、放電ワイヤー加工、超音波切断のような薄片切断加工法を用いて、所望の形状および大きさに加工することで容易に得ることができる。あるいは、枠状緻密体は、空孔率がより小さくなるように濃度などが調整されたスラリーを用いて、後述の多孔部21となる加工成形体と同様にして用意することができる。さらには、枠状緻密体は、組成や発泡剤添加量(0%〜)が調整されたスラリーを用いて、後述の多孔部21となる加工成形体と同様にして用意することができる。
<2−1> まず、金属粉と、発泡剤とを含有するスラリーを用意する。
金属粉としては、前述したチタン系材料またはその酸化物で構成される粉末が用いられる。

Claims (6)
- 椎体と椎体との間に挿入して使用される椎体スペーサであって、
第1の面と、第2の面と、第3の面と、第4の面と、第5の面とを備え、湾曲凸面からなる前記第1の面が前記椎体と当接する一方の当接面を構成し、湾曲凸面からなる前記第2の面が前記椎体と当接する他方の当接面を構成し、前記第3の面により椎間に内側の空間を画成し、前記第4の面により椎間に外側の空間を画成し、前記第1の面および前記第2の面の腹側の端部において互いに接合し、前記第1の面および前記第2の面の背側の端部において前記第5の面を介して互いに接合する、チタンまたはチタン合金を主材料として構成されるブロック体を少なくとも1つ有し、
該ブロック体は、枠状の緻密部と、該緻密部の内側に設けられ、少なくとも表面の空孔率が、前記緻密部の空孔率よりも大きい多孔部とを有し、
前記緻密部は、前記第1の面の平面視形状に対応する形状を備える前記椎体の一方に当接する第1の枠状部と、前記第2の面の平面視形状に対応する形状を備える他方の前記椎体に当接する第2の枠状部と、前記第1の面および前記第2の面の腹側の端部において互いに接合する接合部において、前記第1の枠状部と前記第2の枠状部とを連結し、支柱として機能する連結部とを備えることを特徴とする椎体スペーサ。 - 前記緻密部と前記多孔部とが一体的に形成されている請求項1に記載の椎体スペーサ。
- 前記多孔部は、複数の角部を備え、前記緻密部は、前記多孔部の各前記角部に沿って設けられている請求項1に記載の椎体スペーサ。
- 前記少なくとも1つのブロック体は、一対のブロック体で構成されている請求項1に記載の椎体スペーサ。
- 前記多孔部は、その全体が多孔体で構成されている請求項1に記載の椎体スペーサ。
- 前記多孔部には、骨誘導因子が担持されている請求項1に記載の椎体スペーサ。
