その上段列の商品W2の箱詰めは、前記したように商品Wを、頂部を鉛直下方に向けて詰め込めばよいため、図7に示すように、搬送装置Dから商品Wを吸着保持した時の姿勢のまま(傾動手段E2の作動なし)で吸着ユニットE1を移動機構E3によって上下方向、水平方向(前後方向)に移動させることで上段列の詰め込みを行うことができる。
以上の如く、箱14に上下段列とも所定数量の商品Wを詰め終わると、詰め終わった箱14を1箱分下流側へ移送すると共に、空の箱を箱詰め位置Pに移動させる。
上記動作により、従来は手作業で箱詰めしていた上下段が互い違いに組み合わさる詰め込み方式を機械によって自動的に行うことが可能となる。

図10(a)に示す箱詰めは、商品Wを列単位で略半ピッチずらして収納する方法で、同図(a)において箱14の搬送方向(矢印方向)に向かって該箱14の左側から数えて奇数列と偶数列とでは該商品Wの寸法LのL/2だけずれて配置されている。
従って、図10(b)に示すように、奇数列の商品Wを詰め込む場合は吸着ユニットE1を、搬送装置Dから商品Wを吸着保持した状態のまま箱詰め位置に移動し、箱14に向け降下して1列目(奇数列)の収納を行う。次に、2列目(偶数列)の収納は、吸着ユニットE1が搬送装置Dから商品Wを吸着保持した後、傾動手段E2を作動して商品Wを吸着保持する吸着パッド5を図10(b)に仮想線で示す傾斜状態に変更する。吸着パッド5の傾斜により、商品Wが載置される位置は1列目に対して略L/2だけ左側に移動される。
よって、商品Wを吸着保持した吸着ユニットE1を、商品の収納列に応じ傾動手段E2を操作することで図10(a)の箱詰めを自動的に行うことができる。
尚、図10(a)に示す箱詰めは、前記吸着ユニットE1自体をズレ量(L/2)分だけ平行移動させても箱詰めできるが、その場合吸着ユニット全体を移動させるため、移動制御が困難である。しかし、前記方法は吸着ユニットE1自体の位置は変わらず、吸着パッドの傾斜切換のみでよいため、制御が簡単で、箱詰め形態の変更に容易に対応することができる。

(3)実施の形態では、吸着ユニットの移動機構としてアーム機構を例示したがこれに限定されず、今日採用されている上下機構、水平移動機構などから適宜選択してもよい。
(4)実施の形態では、複数の吸着パッドの傾き変更を単一のシリンダで動かす構成を示したがこれに限定されず、それぞれの吸着パッドに小型のシリンダを取り付けて個々に動かすようにしてもよい。
