Description

The present invention contains an organic acid mixture, a natural extract such as a pickled strawberry fruit extract or a blueberry extract, and a sugar such as xylitol or maltitol, and an oral hygiene composition excellent in saliva secretion promoting effect, and , Oral care products.

Saliva plays an important role in maintaining the oral environment and oral function. That is, saliva has two functions: a food and drink intake function and an oral environment maintenance function. In the food and beverage intake function of saliva, saliva exhibits digestive action such as bolus formation and digestive enzyme action, or taste maintenance action by solubilization of taste stimulating substances or secretion of gastin (carboxylate dehydrogenase). In the oral environment maintenance function, saliva exhibits a self-cleaning effect of teeth or mucous membranes, a tooth remineralization effect, an antibacterial effect, an immunity effect, a tissue repair enhancement effect by growth factors, and an anti-inflammatory effect.

Recently, an increasing number of patients complained of reduced salivation caused by various factors. Therefore, the social demand for the treatment is increasing. Severely, even healthy individuals experience a period of reduced salivation due to high stress, physical fatigue, or diurnal fluctuations in hormones. For example, many individuals experience a phase of decreased salivary secretion while resting from chewing activity, during which general irritation to the salivary glands is reduced. Most people ignore temporary salivary decline, but it is preferable to avoid it if possible.
Such decreased salivary secretion is induced by systemic diseases such as Sjogren's syndrome, medical diseases such as diabetes, liver cirrhosis, and kidney disease, aging, or various diseases that cause physical changes in salivary glands, and radiation by cancer treatment. It can also be triggered by the side effects of various drugs.
Recently, with the aging of the population, the number of patients complaining of decreased salivary gland function due to aging and decreased salivary secretion as a result of various drug therapies for various complex diseases that develop in the elderly is increasing.

Decreased salivation results in dry mouth. This makes the tongue red, and sometimes the tongue cracks and complains of pain when eating, making it difficult to chew and swallow. In addition, a decrease in saliva secretion may cause inconvenience to the oral cavity, induce taste disorders and pronunciation problems, and cause denture instability, bad breath, caries, periodontitis, stomatitis, pneumonia and digestive dysfunction. Are known.

Local treatment with artificial saliva has been applied to the treatment of decreased salivary secretion, but the effect is temporary and limited. Hyaluronic acid can make the oral cavity a little moist, but cannot promote salivation. A muscarinic receptor agonist is applied as a salivary secretion promoter, and specifically, anethole trithione and cevimeline hydrochloride are used. However, these effects are unstable, and gastrointestinal side effects such as irritations, vomiting, loss of appetite, and abdominal discomfort have been raised as problems.

As mentioned above, most of the compounds known to have the effect of preventing and treating salivary secretion are synthetic substances and have been reported to have side effects. Therefore, there is an urgent need for the development of a new prevention and treatment agent for salivary secretion that fundamentally treats the decrease in salivation and exhibits no side effects.
