Description
メタルキャッチとは、摩擦材と、その相手材である鋳鉄製のディスクロータやブレーキドラムが摺動したときに発生する相手材の摩耗粉が、摩擦材の摺動面に存在する金属成分に移着して金属塊を形成し、更に、摺動時の圧力によりその金属塊が摩擦材の摺動面内部に押し込まれて摩擦材の内部に固定される現象である。
銅成分として銅の繊維や粒子を含むNAO材の摩擦材に、錫や真鍮などの金属単体、合金の繊維や粒子を添加した場合、先ず、摩擦材と相手材の摺動により相手材の摺動面に金属単体、合金の被膜が形成される。
摩擦材の銅成分に移着した金属単体、合金は、軟質のため金属塊に成長することがなく、メタルキャッチの発生が抑制される。
銅成分として銅の繊維や粒子を含むNAO材の摩擦材に金属硫化物を添加した場合、金属硫化物の潤滑作用により相手材の摩耗粉の発生が抑制され、メタルキャッチが抑制される。
銅成分として銅の繊維や粒子を含まないNAO材の摩擦材に、錫や真鍮などの金属単体、合金の繊維や粒子を添加した場合、摩擦材の摺動面に存在する金属単体、合金に相手材の摩耗粉が移着して金属塊を形成し、メタルキャッチが発生する。
銅成分として銅の繊維や粒子を含まないNAO材の摩擦材に金属硫化物を添加した場合、比較的低い温度領域では金属硫化物の潤滑作用により相手材の摩耗粉の発生が抑制され、メタルキャッチが抑制される。しかし、熱伝導率の高い銅を抜くことにより摩擦材の放熱性が低下するため、摩擦材が高温高負荷に曝されると摩擦材が蓄熱し、金属硫化物の分解温度に達しやすくなる。金属硫化物が金属成分と硫黄成分に分解すると、分解した金属成分に相手材の摩耗粉が移着して金属塊を形成し、メタルキャッチが発生する。なお、分解温度が比較的高い一部の金属硫化物においては、メタルキャッチは発生しない。
上記摩擦材組成物は、
銅以外の金属単体、合金を含まず、
潤滑剤として、金属と硫黄に分解する温度が600℃以上である金属硫化物を含有する摩擦材。
添加量がこの範囲であると、摩擦材の耐摩耗性がより良好となり、また、摩擦係数が低下することがなく充分な制動力を得ることができる。
また、硫化タングステンも425℃の温度域で酸化するため、二硫化モリブデンと同様の問題がある。
硫化錫を使用すると、相手材、摩擦材の異常摩耗の原因となるメタルキャッチが発生しやすくなる。
表1及び表2に示す組成の摩擦材組成物をレディゲミキサーにて5分間混合し、成型金型内で10MPaにて1分加圧して予備成型をした。この予備成型物を、予め洗浄、表面処理、接着剤を塗布した鋼鉄製のバックプレート上に重ね、熱成型型内で成型温度150℃、成型圧力40MPaの条件下で10分間成型した後、200℃で5時間熱処理(後硬化)を行い、研磨して乗用車用ディスクブレーキパッドを作製した(実施例1〜11、比較例1〜2)。
摩耗試験において、各温度の摩耗量測定時に、メタルキャッチを目視にて観察し、下記基準にて評価した。
○:メタルキャッチが無い。
×:メタルキャッチがある。
JASO C427 「摩耗試験」に準拠し、制動初速度50km/h、制動減速度0.3G、制動回数適宜、制動前ブレーキ温度100℃、200℃、300℃、400℃の条件で、ディスクロータの摩耗量(μm)を測定し、制動回数1000回あたりの摩耗量に換算後、下記基準にて評価した。
◎:ディスクロータの摩耗量(μm)<15
○:15≦ディスクロータの摩耗量(μm)<20
△:20≦ディスクロータの摩耗量(μm)<25
×:25≦ディスクロータの摩耗量(μm)
JASO C427 「摩耗試験」に準拠し、制動初速度50km/h、制動減速度0.3G、制動回数適宜、制動前ブレーキ温度100℃、200℃、300℃、400℃の条件で、摩擦材の摩耗量(mm)を測定し、制動回数1000回あたりの摩耗量に換算後、下記基準にて評価した。
◎:ディスクパッドの摩耗量(mm)<0.15
○:0.15≦ディスクパッドの摩耗量(mm)<0.20
△:0.20≦ディスクパッドの摩耗量(mm)<0.25
×:ディスクパッドの摩耗量(mm)≧0.25
JASO C406(一般性能)に規定される第2効力試験の、初速度50km/hから液圧4MPaにて制動した試験を5回行い、そのときの平均値を求めた。
◎: 0.42以上 0.45未満
○: 0.39以上 0.42未満
△: 0.36以上 0.39未満
×: 0.36未満

Claims (3)
- 銅成分を含まないNAO材の摩擦材組成物を成型した摩擦材において、上記摩擦材組成物は、銅以外の金属単体、合金を含まず、潤滑剤として、硫化亜鉛を含有することを特徴とする摩擦材。
- 上記硫化亜鉛を、0.5〜2.0重量%含有することを特徴とする請求項1記載の摩擦材。
- 上記潤滑剤として、更に黒鉛を摩擦材組成物全量に対し2.0〜5.0重量%含有することを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の摩擦材。
