本願は、35USC§119に基づき、2009年5月22日に出願された同時係属中の米国仮特許出願第61/180,759号、発明の名称「改良されたイヤーチップ」の優先権を主張した出願であり、該出願は、その全体が複写されたかの如く、引用を以て本願に全て組み込まれるものとする。

開示された実施例は、広義において聴力保護及び/又は音伝達装置に関するものであり、より具体的には、イヤープラグ及び/又はイヤーチップに関する。
イヤープラグ及びイヤーチップにおいて、適切かつ快適に装着するには効果的な挿入を行なうことが重要である。更に、イヤープラグ及びイヤーチップはいずれも、使用者の外耳道が外部騒音から有効に遮断されるようにするために、使用者の外耳道の中に適切に挿入される必要がある。つまり、イヤープラグの主要な目的は、この種の聴覚隔離(auditory isolation)を提供し、潜在的有害音が使用者の外耳道へ入るのを遮ることにある。また、音伝達装置(例えば、限定しない例として、携帯音楽機器等)に用いるイヤーチップは、音伝達装置から出る所望の音(例えば、音楽等)を使用者が明瞭に聞き取れなくなるような外部騒音から、使用者の外耳道を隔てることができれば最も有効である。出願人は、最適化された音シールをもたらすことが、イヤープラグ及び/又はイヤーチップの全体的効果において重要となることを見出した。出願人は更に、音シールには、イヤープラグ及び/又はイヤーチップを外耳道内の所定位置に適切に挿入するという使用者の能力によって影響されることも見出した。
出願人が開発した改良イヤープラグ/イヤーチップは、一又は複数の実施例において、挿入の改善、微細かつ一様なセル構造及び/又はより滑らかな表面皮膜、回復圧力の低さ、音減衰の向上、及び/又は静電気蓄積の低減の中の一又は複数の特性を提供するものである。一般的に、“イヤーチップ(EarTip)”(限定しない例として、例えば、イヤープラグやイヤーチップである)の実施例では、複数のオープンセルを有し、遅回復性低弾性のフォームプラスチック材を含み、摩擦係数の低い添加剤が発泡性材料全体に分配されている。一実施例において、遅回復性低弾性のフォームプラスチック材料は、遅回復性低弾性のポリウレタンフォーム(例えば、限定しない例として、遅回復性ラテックス改質されたポリウレタンフォーム等)を含んでいる。また実施例によっては、摩擦係数の低い添加剤はPTFEを含むことができる。一実施例において、イヤーチップは、外耳道の中に収まるよう構成された外形を有する主本体部を含んでいる。前記主本体は、加圧成形された遅回復性低弾性のフォームプラスチック材料(例えば、限定しない例として、遅回復性のラテックス改質ポリウレタンフォーム等)で形成されており、該フォームプラスチック材料は、気体が充満した(gas-filled)複数のオープンセルを含み、摩擦係数の低い添加剤(限定しない例として、PTFE等)が発泡性材料全体にほぼ均一に分配されている。発泡性材料は、所望によりオープンモールドの中で成形されることもできるが、閉じたモールドの中で約0.5psi以上の圧力下で成形されることもできる。一態様において、ポリウレタンフォーム材料は、プレポリマー流れを、固体約60%のラテックス水溶液流れと混合することにより形成されることができ、PTFEは約2〜約7重量%のラテックス水溶液流れを含むことができる。一態様において、PTFEは約4重量%のラテックス水溶液流れを含んでいる。他の態様において、イヤーチップはイヤープラグである。

Claims (10)
- 外耳道の中に収容されるよう構成された主本体部を含むイヤーチップであって、
該主本体は、加圧成形された遅回復性低弾性フォームプラスチック材料で形成され、気体が充満した複数のオープンセルを含み、低摩擦係数の添加剤がフォーム材料全体に亘って分配されており、
前記フォームは遅回復性のラテックス改質ポリウレタンフォームであり、
前記低摩擦係数の添加剤はPTFEを含んでいる、
イヤーチップ。 - 添加剤はフォーム全体に略一様に分配されている、請求項1のイヤーチップ。
- 主本体はイヤープラグを形成する、請求項1のイヤーチップ。
- 主本体は、該主本体を貫通し、音響管を収容することが可能なアパーチャを含んでいる、請求項1のイヤーチップ。
- 主本体部は、静摩擦係数が1.70より大きく、動摩擦係数が1.47より小さい、請求項1のイヤーチップ。
- フォームは、
プレポリマー流れとラテックス水溶液流れを生成し、
2〜7重量%のPTFEをラテックス水溶液流れに添加し、
プレポリマー流れとラテックス水溶液流れを混合することによって形成され、
ラテックス水溶液流れは60%が固体であり、プレポリマー流れとラテックス水溶液流れの混合は、閉じたモールドの中で3447.38パスカル以上の圧力下で行われる、請求項1のイヤーチップ。 - 前記セルの平均直径は、添加剤無しの標準的な遅回復性低弾性フォームプラスチックのものより小さく、
主本体の断面におけるセルの平均直径の変動は、添加剤無しの標準的な遅回復性低弾性フォームプラスチックのものよりも大きくない、請求項1のイヤーチップ。 - 主本体は表面と中心があり、表面に近いセルの平均断面積は、中心に近いセルの平均断面積の少なくとも2分の1である、請求項1のイヤーチップ。
- 主本体部の平均静摩擦係数は、標準的な遅回復性フォームのものよりも大きく、
主本体部の平均動摩擦係数は、標準的な遅回復性フォームのものよりも小さい、請求項1のイヤーチップ。 - 主本体部の平均静摩擦係数は1.82より大きく、平均動摩擦係数は1.32より小さい、請求項1のイヤーチップ。
